St-160/St-250 Owner Manual

Please carefully read the manual and strictly observe all instructions. Special attention should be paid to any
information prefaced by the words “WARNING”, “CAUTION” and “NOTE”.
Information under the heading “WARNING” is concerned with personal safety. Ignoring instructions under this
heading may result in an accident.
Information under the heading “CAUTION” refers to the methods that must be followed, or the measures that
should be taken, in order to prevent damage.
Information under the heading “NOTE” includes additional details and descriptions in order to clarify and
elaborate on maintenance requirements and other operational information.
The first 3000 km is a very important period in the service life of a motorcycle. The correct running in of a
motorcycle can guarantee both the longest service life and the best performance of the motorcycle. Running in
can polish machined surfaces and form smooth engagement.
Careful and patient running in can make the motorcycle stable when driving and maximize its performance.
During this period is important not to undertake any operation that may cause the engine components to
overheat.
For the specific running-in method, please refer to the chapter in this manual entitled “Running in of a new
vehicle”.
This manual should always be kept with the motorcycle. In the event that the vehicle is transferred to a new
owner, the manual should also be passed to the new owner.

DRIVING A MOTORCYCLE SAFELY
When driving your motorcycle you must pay attention to safety at all times by observing road rules and following
the six points.
1. Wear a safety helmet
This is a critical requirement for motorcycle driving. A high-quality safety helmet is essential for personal
protection as a traffic accident could cause a head injury. Therefore, be sure to wear a safety helmet and a pair
of protective glasses when driving your motorcycle.
2. Use safe driving techniques
Driving techniques and mechanical knowledge are the basis of safe driving. Familiarize yourself with your
motorcycle and practice your riding skills in a safe, controlled environment away from other vehicles. The
more you practice, the more skillful you will become.
3. Understand the various factors that determine safe driving speed
You must always ride your motorcycle within the speed limit. A safe driving speed also depends on the
road surface, the driver’s skills, and weather conditions. Adjusting your speed accordingly could prevent an
accident.
4. Wear well-fitting clothes
Loose-fitting clothing may be both uncomfortable and unsafe when driving. Wear high-quality, close-fitting,
protective clothing including a safety helmet, gloves and boots in order to protect your safety.

5. Exercise caution in wet weather conditions
The braking distance in wet weather conditions is twice the normal stopping distance in dry weather. Wet
roads can be slippery and dangerous. In order to prevent slipping, avoid driving over manhole covers, paint
marks or oil stained surfaces. Avoid abrupt steering movements during acceleration. Exercise caution when
driving over railways and bridges and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.
6. Inspect your Motorcycle before driving it
Please carefully read all instructions in the “Inspection before Driving” chapter of this manual to ensure the
safety of you and your passenger.
