WARRANTY POLICY

BredaBeds warranties all mechanical hardware for a period of ten (10) years, all wood parts on our products for a period of one

(1) year to be free of material or workmanship defects and electronics (such as lights) for a period of ninety (90) days. Warranty

periods begin from date of purchase. We will repair or replace at our discretion any defective parts within this period. This

warranty is made assuming proper installation using the provided instructions. This warranty does not cover damage due to

improper use, abuse, neglect, misunderstanding of operation or improper assembly. This warranty does not cover issues with

springs or pistons. This warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. In the unlikely event you have a

warranty issue, please contact us by phone, email or using the live chat feature when available.

We will accept returns on any item we sell within a 30 day period from time of receipt, less a 20% restocking fee. Return shipping

and shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer as well as repackaging the product in a safe and acceptable manner.

Once the returned product is received by us and inspected for damage, a credit will be issued for the amount of purchase less

20% and less the cost of any damage, if any. Credit will be applied back to the customer in the same form of payment made

6Unpacking Your BredaBed & Frequently Asked Questions

I’m missing parts or hardware for my bed.

If you suspect anything is missing, take inventory of the parts you do have using

the part/hardware lists and note any other parts/hardware you may be missing.

Often times, parts or hardware can get misplaced and will turn up later, so double

check your work area and any other places it may be. If you still cannot  nd it,

your order number ready and a list of all missing parts/hardware.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I have damaged parts on my bed, what do I do?

Do not begin assembly! As soon as you  nd damage, send us an email at

[email protected] with pictures of the damaged areas, part name(s)

(found on the part label), provide your order number and any other additional

information. We prioritize remake parts to be sent within a few business days; be

sure to notify us immediately. We provide a Fil-Stick in Hardware Package #10 that

matches the color of your bed to  x minor chips on the edges of the panels.

I’m finished with assembly, but I have extra parts leftover.

This is normal, we provide extra hardware with each bed model as a convenience.

Once assembled, you can discard this additional hardware.

Why don’t the illustrations match my parts?

The illustrations in the booklet match a Full size. If your bed is a di erent size, the

illustrations may be slightly di erent, however installation is identical. In addition

to this, sometimes elements in the illustrations are not shown for clarity.

UNPACKING YOUR BREDABED

When you  rst receive your BredaBed, it will be loaded on a pallet with banding. This

banding can be cut carefully with a utility knife and the individual pieces can be carried to

where the bed will be assembled. When handling panels, take special precaution to avoid

scratching and chipping on the corners and side edges. If the bed won’t be assembled for

an extended period of time, store the panels  at on the ground on top of a soft surface,

such as a rug or carpet. Usually, when parts or hardware are reported as missing, they

are often just misplaced and turn up later, so be sure to keep all hardware and boxes

together. Inspect the panels for damage and take inventory using the “Parts List” on the

following pages to verify you have everything. When you’re ready to begin assembly,

have all parts, hardware and tools in your work area. Do not unpack hardware until

instructed to do so. Additionally, keep children and pets away from work area

during assembly for their safety.

What type of mattress can I use?

Our beds will work with any mattress up to 13” thick and under 110 lbs, however we

recommend keeping the thickness under 11” so the headboard can sit at a slight angle.

Verify sizes and weights when purchasing a mattress. Inner-spring and memory foam

mattresses are compatible, but latex mattresses are not recommended. Your bed comes

with an optional strap to help keep the mattress in place for thicker or  oppy mattresses.

Troubleshooting

TROUBLESHOOTING

The bed doors hit the Toe Kick when opened.

• The steel frame must be 1/2” back from the Mechanism End. See Chapter 4, Step 3.

• Verify the Toe Kick is not upside down. See Chapter 2, Step 2.

• If the Bed Cabinet is sitting on carpet, the bed must be shimmed higher.

• Frame must be 1/2” back from the Mechanism End. See Chapter 4, Step 3.

• Verify the bolts in Hole #2 (10 1/2” from frame end) and Hole #3 (19 1/4” from

frame end) are inserted and securely tightened. See Chapter 5, Step 4.

The bed doors do not hit the top shelf and fall inside of the Bed Cabinet.

The way the legs are shaped prevent the legs from slipping out from under the

bed without rst raising up on the Bed Face Panel. If your legs are slipping out, it’s

usually one of the following issues:

• When opening the bed, be sure both legs are extended all the way down.

• Check that the leg stop cylinder is in the bottom hole (see Chapter 4, Step 2) and

that the leg connector rod has been installed (see Chapter 4, Step 8).

• If the legs hit against the bed doors instead of the cylinder, verify the frame is

1/2” back from the Mechanism End (see Chapter 4, Step 3).

The legs slip out from under the bed or have pulled out from the round leg disks.

The mattress and bedding should be in place to determine the proper spring

tension. See Chapter 6, Step 4 for spring adjustment. If the bed won’t close all the

way, verify the headboard is adjusted for your mattress thickness (during Chapter

1) and pillows are not near the headboard or have been completely removed.

The bed doesn’t stay closed/open.

The Bed Cabinet bottom needs to be moved left or right. See Chapter 6, Step 1.

The Bed Face Panel is not even side-to-side or the legs hit left/right side.

The instructions in this booklet are for attaching a bed to wood wall studs. If your

wall backing varies from this visit: https://breda.us/walls for guidance.

I don’t have wood studs in my wall to attach the Bed Cabinet to.

If the notch wasn’t customized during ordering, you can notch the wood panels

with a saw. Alternatively, you can remove or notch the baseboard.

The Bed Cabinet hits my baseboard.

Screws on each hinge plate control adjustment (see: https://breda.us/hinges):

• The front screw controls the side-to-side adjustment.

• The back screw controls the depth.

• The top and bottom screws are used to adjust the door higher or lower.

Hinges on hutch doors need to be adjusted.

PREPARING THE WORK AREA

Use the dimensions below to clear a wall area where the bed will be attached. The

middle of the room should also be clear and you should have all parts, hardware

and tools in your work area.

UNDERSTANDING CAM FITTINGS

The unit is assembled using what’s known

as cam ttings. This system allows for

easy and exact alignment of parts and

are what secures the bed pieces together.

There are two parts to this system: the

cam ttings (Fig. A) found in hardware

package #6 and cam screws (Fig. B) found

in hardware package #1. When inserting

cam ttings, it’s important to properly align the at part of the tting with

the edge of the board (Fig. C). Cam ttings are tightened by inserting a #1

Phillips screwdriver at a slight angle through the top hole and twisting until

snug (Fig. D). Once tightened, cam ttings have an equal holding strength

as screws. Never use an electric drill to

tighten cam ttings, always hand-tighten.

Chapter 1: Hardware insertion.

No cam screws will be inserted on the middle 2 holes on the “Mid Shelf” in this step.

The quantity of holes along the side of “Bed Cabinet Top” and “Bed Cabinet Mid Shelf” will vary

depending on bed size. Insert cam screws in each hole on the side of this panel.

Hardware Package #1 in

holes marked with a red

circle using a cordless drill.

BredaBeds Murphy Beds are designed for a

mattress thickness of 11” or under, however

Headboard area AB/BAis adjustable for mattress

thicknesses greater than 11” if needed. In this

area, use only 1 cam screw per side:

• Holes ‘A’ (closest to panel midpoint) are for

mattresses up to 11” thick.

• Holes ‘B’ (hole closest to panel edge) are for

11” to 13” thick mattresses.

Even though we provide this adjustment, we

highly recommend using a mattress that is 11” or

under so that the headboard will sit at an angle

to minimize the gap between the wall and the

mattress. Thus we recommend using holes ‘A’.

When inserting cam ttings, place the panel on a at, solid surface so that the force of the mallet

is distributed evenly to the underlying surface.

Package #6 in holes marked with a

green circle using a rubber mallet (see

note at the bottom of this page). Cam

ttings should be inserted with the at

part of the cam tting ush with the

side of the panel.

The quantity of holes along the “Top

Nailer” and “Mid Nailer” will vary

depending on bed size. Insert cam screws/

ttings in each hole along these panels.

Chapter 2: Bed Cabinet assembly.

Kick” closest to the wall where bed will be

attached. Slide in direction of arrows and

tighten all cam ttings. The Toe Kick cams

face up and tighten from the top side.

The unnished side of the Toe Kick will

be exactly ush with the unnished edge

of the cabinet side. If there is a 1/4” dierence, turn the Toe Kick around 180 degrees

(use the other two cams on the opposite side).

Chapter 2: Bed Cabinet assembly.

REQUIRED TOOLS: #1 Phillips Screwdriver

CAM FITTINGS/SCREWS ARE OFFSET TO PREVENT THE TOP NAILER FROM BEING

INSTALLED BACKWARD. FROM THE VIEW ABOVE THE CAMS ARE FACING THE

CAMERA. ONCE ASSEMBLED, THESE WILL FACE THE WALL THE BED WILL ATTACH

TO AND NOT BE VISIBLE. DO NOT RE-DRILL HOLES IF THE CAMS DO NOT ALIGN.

Lower “Bed Cabinet Top Nailer” onto “Bed Cabinet Top” as

shown in Fig. 2A and tighten cam tting using a #1 Phillips

screwdriver. Note: Make sure cam ttings are facing toward and

aligned to this back edge of the “Bed Cabinet Top” as illustrated

below. Reverse the top nailer (rotate end-to-end) if the edges

don’t align (the cams are intentionally oset to one side). Repeat

this process with the “Bed Cabinet Mid Nailer” onto “Bed Cabinet Mid Shelf”.

STEP 1

Cam ttings should be turned approx. 1/4 turn until snug.

Over-tightening can cause them to break.

OVERVIEW: You’ll now assemble the Bed Cabinet on the oor directly in front of the wall where the

bed will attach, then tilt the unit up. To do this, you’ll need at least 3 extra inches of height clearance.

If the height of your room is shorter than this, you’ll have to assemble the Bed Cabinet vertically.

14 Chapter 2: Bed Cabinet assembly.

From the perspective shown, cam ttings on the Toe Kick and Headboard

should be facing up, and tighten from the top side. If assembling vertically,

these cam ttings should face the wall the Bed Cabinet will attach to. Once

assembled, cam ttings on these parts should not be visible.

Slide “Bed Cabinet Left Side” into place as shown in Fig. 2C in

direction of arrow and tighten all cam ttings.

Attach “Headboard” as shown in Fig. 2D and tighten cam

ttings. The Headboard will normally sit at a slight angle.

STEP 3

Stand the Bed Cabinet upright

and against the wall at the

desired location. The Bed

Cabinet should be at against

the wall. Keep at least a 1/2”

clearance on the sides to allow

for later adjustment.

than the base notch

provided, please see the

During & after tipping up, do not apply upward pressure to any horizontal panels.

Chapter 2: Bed Cabinet assembly.

With the bed at against the wall, install the two mechanisms

from the large square box labeled “Spring Closure Assembly”.

Attach each mechanism to the face of the side panels as

shown in the illustrations below using qty 6 30mm bolts and

qty 6 nylock nuts found in Hardware Card #2. The bolts will go

in from the opposite side of the panel shown. The panels have

a recessed area that the bolts will t into.

Clean any excess grease from the pivot points using a paper towel.

Referring to the illustrations

on this page, attach each

mechanism foot from

Hardware Card #2, to the

mechanisms. They will attach

toward the bottom at the

piece of steel bent at 90°.

At this time, keep each foot loose and make

sure the bottom of the feet do not stick past the

bottom of the panel. The feet will be used in the

next Chapter to adjust the bed for uneven oors.

Once attached, cover the 12 bolt heads with stickers from Hardware Package

#10 on the opposite side than what’s shown in the illustration above.

16 Chapter 2: Bed Cabinet assembly.

Our mechanism

utilizes steel

L-Brackets to hold

the bottom of the

bed & mechanism

to the wall &

baseboard.

Fully tighten and attach the

Baseboard Brackets to each of the

mechanisms. The left is marked “LH”

and the right is marked “RH”. Make

sure the bottom of the bed and

brackets are both pushed at against

the wall and baseboard. The slots on

the back of the bracket are for 16” deep Murphy Beds and the slots of the front are

for 21” (wardrobe) deep Murphy Beds. Attach with (qty 2) 20mm Hex head bolts

and (qty 2) Lock Washers found in Hardware Card #2 using the bottom threaded

hole and one of the top holes along the slot.

At this time, the brackets will only attach to the sides/mechanism, NOT the wall.

They will attach to the wall later in the instructions after adjustment (Chapter 6).

For your bed, you will use the 16” slots.

Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, verify all cams are locked to the

connecting cam screw.

Are all cam fittings locked?

• Cam ttings on the Bed Cabinet Nailers, Toe Kick and Headboard

should face the wall and NOT be visible from the front.

• Cam ttings on the Bed Cabinet Top and Mid Shelf should face down

and WILL be visible from below.

Chapter 3: Attaching the Bed

Cabinet to the wall.

REQUIRED TOOLS REQUIRED HARDWARE

• Hardware Card #2 (mech. box)

• Hardware Package #10 (white box)

• Cordless Drill and/or Impact Driver

• #2 & #3 Phillips Bit

• 3/16” Drill Bit

• Countersink (or 3/8” Drill Bit)

• Stud Finder

• Level

Begin by leveling the Bed Cabinet. Place a level on the top of the

Bed Cabinet in the center. If the horizontal bubble on the level

is touching the left mark, adjust the mechanism foot or place

a shim under the right side of the Bed Cabinet. If the bubble is

touching the right mark, adjust the mechanism foot or place a

shim under the left side of the Bed Cabinet. The shim is tapered,

so the further in you slide the shim, the more it will raise that side of the bed. It may

be necessary to stack the shims for more height if the  oor varies greatly. Once the

bubble is exactly centered between the marks, the bed is level.

STEP 1

OVERVIEW: Now that the Bed Cabinet is assembled, we’ll be attaching it to the wall. This is

a crucial chapter that must be followed carefully. If the Bed Cabinet is improperly attached

to the wall, the bed could collapse at a later time and could result in serious injury.

IMPORTANT: If your bed is sitting on carpet, insert shims under each side panel to

raise the whole bed above the padding. Later during adjustment, the bottom of the

bed may need to be shifted which won’t be possible unless the whole unit is raised up

at this point. We recommend inserting the shims about half way, although thick carpet

should be shimmed a bit higher and thin carpet should be shimmed a bit lower.

The instructions in this booklet are for attaching a bed

to wood wall studs. If your wall backing varies from

this, visit: https://breda.us/walls for guidance.

This is especially important for steel studssteel studs, concreteconcrete and brickbrick walls!

At this time, don’t worry about shims sticking out on the sides of the Bed Cabinet.

Once assembly has been completed, the excess wood on the shims can be

carefully cuto with a utility knife.
