4. Sufficientair isneeded forproper combustionand exhaustingof gases throughthe flue
(chimney)of fuelburning equipmentto preventbackdrafting. Followthe heatingequip-
mentmanufacturer’s guidelines and safety standards such as those published by the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating,
RefrigerationandAirConditioning Engineers(ASHRAE),and thelocalcode authorities.
5. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hiddenutilities.
6. Ductedfans must always be vented to theoutdoors.
7. Donot use thisunit with anyseparate solid-state speedcontrol device.
8. Toreduce the risk of fire,use only metal ductwork.
9. Thisunit mustbe grounded.
TOREDUCE THERISK OF ARANGE TOPGREASE FIRE:
A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and
greasyspillovers thatmay ignite. Heatoils slowlyon low ormedium settings.
B. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when flambeing food(i.e. Crepes
Suzette,Cherries Jubilee, PeppercornBeef Flambe’).
C. Cleanventilatingfansfrequently.Grease shouldnotbe allowedtoaccumulate onfan or
filter.
D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface
element.
