Quick Guide
Thank you for choosing bvr-Instruments and the trigger/sequencer.
You will find in this booklet, how to start with your TS1.

Controls 1/3
Starting the TS1 after powering up.
MENU allows to start the TS1 after the splash screen and to
quit the screensaver if activated.
Enable and disable the Edit mode.
Successive EDIT push allows you to enter and exit Edit mode.
Starting and stopping the sequencer.
Successive START/STOP push allow to start & stop the sequencer.
Note: In Song mode START : start the sequencer in Song mode.
Select a mode. Trigger, Drums Sequence 1,2,3,4, Song, Settings.
MODE selector (rotate) select one of 9 modes
Note: Access to Scene mode: SHIFT + MODE Settings.
Access to a page menu. (Excluding settings mode).
MENU + SELECT (rotation): Previous/next page.
Exiting a menu quickly. (Without returning to the default page).
Pressing EDIT once: exits a menu.
Access to a parameter in a page menu.
SHIFT + SELECT (rotation): previous/next parameter.
Changing a parameter value.
SELECT (rotation): previous/next Value.
Validation of an action in a page menu.
SELECT (Push). Validate the action.
Selection of a Pattern, Song or Scene.

Reset pattern to beginning and stop all notes (MIDI/Gate).
SHIFT + START/STOP.
Saving data in the selected mode.
SHIFT + EDIT. Save data only for the current mode.
Enter service mode.
SHIFT + EDIT when powering up.
Mute Un-mute track trigger/Drum or sequence 1,2,3,4/Chord.
Successive SHIFT + MENU allow to mute/un-mute with ‘M’ icon
instead of:
• ‘#’ number of trigger/drums track.
• ‘V’ velocity line of a sequence.
• ‘T’ chord type line for a Seq4/Chords sequence.
Soloing of a Sequence 1,2,3, 4/Chord.
SHIFT + SELECT: successive push allows to Solo un-Solo.
With ‘S’ icon instead of:
• ‘V’ line of a sequence.
• ‘T’ chord type line for a Seq4/Chords sequence.
Selection of A/B part for a pattern.
MENU + SELECT successive push allow to alternatively select A/B.
Selection of the Score or Measure of a pattern 1, 2, 3, 4.
SELECT (Push) + SELECT (rotation) selects the partition to display:
cursor placed on the top of partition number.
Note: Max Bars = 1, 2or 4in configuration settings.
Settings-specific commands.
SELECT (rotate) navigates through the page’s menu.
EDIT allows you to edit a page.
MENU / SHIFT select line up/down.
SELECT (rotate): Previous/next value.
SELECT (Press). Enables actions for (re)-Init with ON/OFF.
Exit Edit by pressing EDIT or changing mode.

Transpose a sequence without going to the menu.
MENU + SHIFT successively activate/deactivate transposition
for sequences 1,2,3,4/Chord modes.
Note : ‘TTTT’ Icons show Transposed sequences.
Test the MIDI note that will be used as Trigger or Drum note.
SELECT (Push). Plays the MIDI note edited in the settings pages:
MIDI trigger out and MIDI drum out.
Choose a new Icon. (in Trigger, Drums, Sequence modes).
Switch to Edit Mode (push EDIT).
SELECT (rotate) and MENU/ SHIFT.
-> selection of the icon to modify.
SELECT (Push) on existing icon. -> display icon choice.
Note: SHIFT allows to display alternative icons if provided.
SELECT (rotate) -> choice of icons.
SELECT (Push) -> selection of replacement icon.
To create a new note of or chord it is imperative to choose
initialize ‘I’ icon to create a valid note or chord.
Quick Copy of a Step, Note or Chord.
Switch to Edit Mode, move on the item:
MENU + SELECT (rotate) copies item 1 time to desired position.
Fast moving a Step, Note or Chord.
Switch to Edit Mode, move on the item:
SHIFT+ SELECT (rotate) moves item the desired position.
Selection of the MIDI In management mode.
MENU + EDIT: select one of the following modes:
• Rec Off '_': no note recorded. (SHIFT + keyboard to erase note)
• Rec One ‘1’: Rec a played note at cursor. (SHIFT + kb to erase)
• Rec All 'A': Rec notes during PLAY mode.
• Transpose ‘T’: Transposes sequences with an external keyboard:
+/- 12 semitones, with the note C4 in the middle point.

Modes
Trigger mode:
It allows you to view, play and modify one of the 99 triggers
patterns available for the Triggers and Drums modes.
These patterns are composed of 4 tracks played on:
• Tr1, Tr2, Tr3, Tr4 triggers output.
• MIDI Out with: trigger out channel Ch xx.
Drum mode:
It is identical to the Trigger mode: the tracks are played on:
• MIDI Out with the Drums out Ch xx channel.
• EXT2 output with “EXT2 connect to Dr1-4” (Settings).
Note: Each trigger track is associated with a MIDI note
in the settings, these notes shall obviously correspond with
the MIDI chart implementation of your musical instrument.
Sequence mode 1 and 2:
It allows you to view, play and modify one of the 99 sequence
patterns available for sequences 1, 2, 3 and 4.
These patterns are composed of a matrix of 4 parameters:
Each note has a Velocity, Degree, Length and Octave.
They can be played respectively on the following outputs:
• Cv/Gate1 and on MIDI channel Sequence 1 Out Ch.
• Cv/Gate2 and on MIDI channel Sequence 2 Out Ch.
Sequence Mode 3 and 4:
Sequence modes 3 and 4 are identical to sequences 1 and 2
except the notes will be played only to MIDI out via:
• MIDI Channel Sequence 3 Out Ch.
• MIDI Channel Sequence 4 Out Ch.
Note: The other modes: Seq4/Chords, Scene, Song, Settings
and Service are described in the TS1 reference manual.

• 2 Trigger/Drum: 4 tracks each, 64 steps with 4 parts.
• 4 Note Sequences: 64 Notes with 4 Parts.
Central rotary selector for direct modes access:
• Trigger/Drum, Sequences 1,2,3,4/Chord.

• Total of 198 Trigger Sequences divided into 2 parts A/ B.
• Total of 198 Note Sequences, divided into 2 parts A/ B.
• 99 Scenes for recalling Trigger/Drum and Sequences.
49 Song containing scenes number and repetitions.
CV/Gates interface: 10 CV/Gates connectors: 3.5 jack socket.
• 1 input EXT1 trigger for external Start / Stop.
• 1 output EXT2 for external clock or Drum track output.
• 4 Gate Outputs: Tr1, Tr2, Tr3, Tr4.
• 4 Cv / Gates outputs for SQ1 and SQ2 (1volt per octave).
MIDI In and MIDI out interface: 5-pin Din standard.
• 1 MIDI In for: note recording and external mute/transpose.
• 1 MIDI out for sending notes on 6 independent channels.

Patterns 1/2
Trigger and Drum type patterns.
Trigger or Drum patterns contain step information.
They are composed of a matrix with 4 lines of 16 columns:
Each column represents a step among the 16 of the measure.

Note: the ruler with the positions of each note from 1 to 16 is
represented as a visual reference, it does not appear on the TS1.
Each line represents one of the following 4 tracks:
1st line
Trigger or Drum for track 1.
2nd line
Trigger or Drum for track 2.
3rd line
Trigger or Drum for track 3.
4th line
Trigger or Drum for track 4.
Velocity level: 6 types: 100%, 80%, 60%, 50%, 30%, 0% represented
by descending size icons.
0% does not play any trigger or MIDI note.
Editing a Trigger or Drum pattern.
Insert a new Step:
• Choose a Step among the 5 positive Velocity levels.
Delete an existing Step:
• Choose a Velocity Step of 0%. (space)
Icon selection.
In Edit mode:
Access is via the SELECT (rotation): The cursor moves from parameter
to parameter then to the next or previous line.
Access is via the MENU and SHIFT buttons, which allow to change the
selected line.
In non-Edit mode:
Access is via the MENU and SHIFT buttons, which allow to change the
selected line.
Note: the selected track is identified by a vertical hyphen on the left.
Editing a Trigger/Drum pattern.
Push EDIT to enter Edit mode. ("E" icon)
A selection square is displayed and surrounds the Step to be modified.
• Scroll through Steps with SELECT (Left/Right) or MENU/SHIFT
(Up/Down) to position the editing square on Step to be modified.
• Selection item to modify with SELECT (Push).
• Among the choices offered: choose the new "Velocity icon" with
SELECT (Left/Right)
• Confirm the choice by pushing SELECT.
Press EDIT to exit Edit mode.

Patterns 2/2
Sequence-type Patterns.
Sequence Patterns contain Note information.
They are composed of a matrix or table with 4 lines of 16 columns:
Each column represents a note among the 16 of the measure.

Each line has a parameter:
First line: "V"
Velocity: 4 types: 100% 70% 50, 30% with descending size icons.
Second line: "D"
Degree of grade: (in English notation)
• 7 full notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, B.
• 5 altered or flat notes: d, e, g, a, b.
Note: Full or flat notes are selected by pressing SHIFT to display
full or flat notes alternately. (Reminder: flat = -1/2 tone).
Third line: "L"
Note duration: 4 types of duration: 1, 2,4, 6 or 8 sixteenth notes.
• Note type legato with the icon:
• Trigger type note with the icon:
Fourth line: "O"
Octave of the note: 7 types: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 corresponding to note
position in the musical scale.
Icon Selection.
In Edit mode:
Access is via the SELECT (rotation): The cursor moves from parameter
to parameter then to the next or previous line.
Access is via the MENU and SHIFT buttons, which allow to change the
selected line.
In non-Edit mode:
Access is via the MENU and SHIFT buttons, which allow to change the
selected line.
Note: the selected line is identified by a vertical hyphen on the left.
Editing a sequence pattern.
Browse through parameters by turning SELECT:
• Bring up the selection choices with SELECT (Push).
• Among the choices offered, choose the new “Icon” with SELECT
(left/right) then press SELECT to confirm the choice.
Note: The following actions shall be performed with cursor on ‘V’ line.
Insert a Note:
To insert a new note in the sequencer you must either:
• Use the 'I' Icon to Initialize a note: D3, Len 1.
• With an external keyboard connected via MIDI. (See MIDI menu).
Delete a Note:
To delete a note in the sequencer, use:
• The 'E' icon for Erase.
• An external keyboard connected via MIDI and press SHIFT
while pressing the note. (See MIDI menu).
Mute a note:
• Use 'M' icon to mute a note without erasing it.
• Use one of the 4 velocity to hear it again.
