It’s crucial to cook food to a safe internal temperature to destroy bacteria that is
present. The safety of hamburgers and other foods made with ground meat has
beenreceivingalotofattentionlately,andwithgoodreason.Whenmeatisground,
thebacteriapresentonthesurfaceismixedthroughoutthegroundmixture.Ifthis
groundmeatisnotcookedtoatleast160oFto165oF(71oCto74oC),bacteriawillnot
bedestroyedandthere’sagoodchanceyouwillgetsick.
Solidpieces ofmeat like steaks and chopsdon’t havedangerous bacterialike E.
colion the inside,so they can be servedmore rare. Still,any beef cutshould be
cookedtoaninternaltemperatureofatleast145oF(63oC)(mediumrare).Thesafe
temperatureforpoultryis180oF(82oC)andsolidcutsofporkshouldbecookedto
160oF(71oC).Eggsshouldbethoroughlycookedtoo.Ifyouaremakingameringue
or other recipe that uses uncooked eggs, buy specially pasteurized eggs or use
preparedmeringuepowder.
SEPARATE
FoodsthatwillbeeatenuncookedandfoodsthatwillbecookedbeforeeatingMUST
ALWAYSbeseparated.Cross-contaminationoccurswhenrawmeatsoreggscome
in contact with foods that will be eaten uncooked. This is a major source of food

withsoapandwater,orusingapre-moistenedantibacterialtoweletteisabsolutely
necessaryafteryouhavetouchedrawmeat or raweggs.Notwashinghandsand

Washyourhandsandworksurfacesfrequentlywhenyouarecooking.Washingwith
soapandwarmwaterforatleast15seconds,thendrywithapapertowel.
CHILL

Thisappliancemustbegroundedwhileinusetoprotect
the operator from electrical shock. The appliance
is equipped with a 3-conductor cord and a 3-prong
grounding type plug to t the proper grounding-type
receptacle. The appliance has a plug that looks like

Use only 3-wire extension cords which have 3-prong

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1. ALWAYSdisconnecttheappliancefromthepowersourcebeforecleaning.
2. NeverimmersetheMotor Assembly ofthisapplianceinwaterorotherliquid.
3. TheBlade,Food Presser,and Food Tray canallbehandwashedinhotsoapy
water.Becausethesepartscomeincontactwithfood,theyshouldbesanitizedby
beingdipped in asolution of 2ounces (0.06 L) of unscentednon-chlorine bleach
mixedwith 5 gallons(19 L)of water.Allow sanitizedparts toair dry. Donot use
harshabrasivestocleananypartoftheFood Slicer.Use extreme caution when
handling or cleaning the Blade, as it is extremely sharp! Do not leave Blade
underwater; trying to handle sharp objects in water can be hazardous. It is
highly recommended to wear cut-resistant Kevlar Gloves when removing,
cleaning and re-installing the Blade.
4. SettheThickness Adjustment Knobto“0”.
5. RemoveFood Presser androtatetheSliding Food Carriageoutofthewayin
ordertoallowforeasyaccesstotheBlade.
6. To remove the Blade hold the Blade with one
handand use acoin tounlock theBlade Locking
ScrewbyturningitclockwiseFigure 6.Carefullypull
the Blade off and hold it by using the hole in the
centeroftheBlade.
7. CleantheoutersurfaceoftheFood Slicer Body
& Base withadampcloth.Milddetergentorwater
canbeusedtodampenthecloth.Wipeawayfrom
theBlade, NEVER wipetoward the Blade. Never
immerse Motor Assembly in water or any other
liquid.Donotusesteelwool,abrasivecleaners,or
sharputensilstoclean.
8. Toallowforeasier cleaning, theThickness Adjustment Knob canbeturned
past “0” to allow the Gauge Plate to slide back. NOTE: Use this feature only
with Blade removed. (After cleaning and before reassembly, reset the Thickness
Adjustment Knobto “0”.)
9. Aftercleaninganddrying,installtheBladeandBlade ScrewtotheMotor Assembly
inreverseorderofstep6.MakesuretheBlade Locking Screwisproperlyengaged
andtightened.RotatetheSliding Food Carriagebacktoitsproperpositionandre-
installtheFood Presser.
