2.2 Product Description
The Cable Matters® 4x2 Matrix Switch is the perfect solution for connect-
ing multiple A/V devices to displays with limited HDMI ports. Connect up to
four devices to two separate displays. Control each device independently
with the handheld remote.

3. CONNECTION AND OPERATION
3.1 Installation Checklist
Please review these steps before installing the HDMI Matrix Switch
Power-off the source and display equipment before connecting
Matrix must be located within 3.6 feet of an electrical outlet
Recommended max total cable distance (in/out) is 30 feet
4K displays require 4K rated HDMI cables in the shortest length needed
Use high quality solid copper HDMI cables for the best performance
Certain cable set-top boxes may block replication of the signal
Test the Matrix and cabling before installing in a permanent location
3.2 Front Panel Connections
1. OFF/ON: Power saving switch can turn off unit when not in use
2. POWER LED: Blue LED lights when Matrix is turned on
3. IR Reader: Remote must have line of sight to this reader
4. HDMI OUT B: Green LED lights to show selected source on Display B
5. HDMI OUT A: Green LED lights to show selected source on Display A
6. SWITCH B: Manual button switches source to Display B
7. SWITCH A: Manual button switches source to Display A
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Default audio / video mode is 4K with 2.1 audio
Connect a source to a display with 1080p or lower resolution by
pressing Switch A for 3 seconds
Press Switch B for 3 seconds to select 4K with 5.1 audio mode

3.3 Rear Panel Connections
1) HDMI OUT: HDMI Connection to Display A or Display B
2) HDMI IN: HDMI Connection to inputs 1, 2, 3, 4
3) DC 5V IN: Connect the AC power adapter to this port
3.4 Audio Panel Connections
1) Toslink optical audio output port
2) 3.5mm stereo audio output port
NOTE: Audio output from the 3.5mm stereo aux jack and Toslink ports
mirrors the output to Display B only

3.5 IR Remote Functions
OUT A: Switch between IN1 to IN4 sources to Display A
OUT B: Switch between IN1 to IN4 sources to Display B
NOTES:
Remove the battery tab cover before using
Remote must have line of sight with the IR reader window
1. Connect the AC power adapter to the unit and an electrical outlet
2. Power off all the source equipment and output displays
3. Connect the HDMI cables to the input sources and output displays
4. Power on the video sources and output displays
5. Depress the ON switch on the Matrix to establish the connections
Note: Press the B switch for 3 seconds to select 4K with 5.1 audio
Note: Press the A switch for 3 seconds to connect a 4K source to a
display with 1080 or lower resolution
6. Select the appropriate HDMI INPUT on the menu of each display
7. Select the appropriate AUDIO INPUT on the menu of each display
8. Switch inputs to the displays with the Switch A or Switch B buttons
on the Matrix or with the handheld remote
9. Press Switch A or Switch B for 3 seconds to change EDID settings

VIDEO SETTINGS
1) Open Apple Menu
2) Select System Preferences
3) Click on Displays
4) Click Arrangement tab
5) Choose Duplicate or Extend
6) Select Display tab to adjust
the resolution
SOUND SETTINGS
1) Open Apple Menu
2) Select System Preferences
3) Click on Sound
4) Select Output tab
5) Adjust volume at connected display
NOTE: Refer to the user manual of
your monitor, TV, or projector to
change the resolution and sound
input settings and to verify that audio
is supported.

VIDEO SETTINGS
1) Right-click on desktop and
select Screen Resolution
2) Select Duplicate or Extend
3) Click on Advanced settings
to change the refresh rate
SOUND SETTINGS
1) Select Control Panel > Sound
2) Select Playback tab
3) Adjust volume at the connected
display
NOTE: Refer to the user manual of your
monitor, TV, or projector to change the
resolution and sound input settings and
to verify that audio is supported.

3.9 Troubleshooting Notes
Verify that the Matrix and all connected equipment have power. The red LED
indicator should be lit.
Verify that all cables are connected to the correct input and output ports.
Verify that the correct video input source and output display is selected. Check
the green LED indicators on the front panel of the Matrix.
No signal is displayed if the source is 4K and the display is 1080p or lower. Press
Switch A for 3 seconds on the Matrix to configure this connection.
All connected equipment must support HDCP.
Directly connect the video source to a display to test for compatibility.
Check the audio output settings from the source device or computer.
Test each HDMI cable by connecting it with other equipment.
High resolution 4K displays may require a heavy gauge AWG 22-24 or RedMere
HDMI cable for distances over 10 feet.
Place the Matrix Switch away from fluorescent lighting or equipment that gener-
ates electrical noise.
A ‘Not Supported’ error message may indicated that the connected equipment
does not support HDCP (or more than 2 outputs) for content protected video.
Check that the IR Reader on the front panel is not blocked.
Reboot the video source and output displays after making changes.
