1 Installation
1.1 Overview
To meet the design function, DTU must be installed correctly. Usually, the installation should be under
the guidance of qualified engineer who is approved by Xiamen Caimore communication technology
co.,Ltd.
Notice:
Please install the DTU without power!
1.2 Unpacking
To ensure the safe transportation, DTU should be packed reasonably. Please keep the package material
when you open the box so as to use them again when before transporting in the future.
The components of DTU:
One unit CAIMORE DTU
One power adapter
One companion cd-rom
One dual-frequency antenna Vehicle mounted antenna(SMA interface)
One 20Pin RS484 line or one DB9 RS232 cross line, selected by different equipment
Optional accessories:
High power gain dual-frequency antenna (SMA interface)
Products guide rail
RS232 Direct connection line
Notice:
Please confirm that the accessories coincides with packing list when you open the product box.
1.3 Installation and Cable Connection
1.3.1 Installation of Antenna and SIM Card
The antenna adopts SMA female base, locked it on the left side of DTU casing.
Please insert the SIM card in the same side of antenna, and eject it by pushing the yellow button.
Please keep the contact surface of metal up when inserting the SIM card sheath into the SIM card slot, and
ensure it is very tight to prevent dropping of SIM card. If you want to take SIM card out, please push the
yellow button by sharp needle which is on the left side of SIM card.

1.4 Power Supply
The DTU model can be used in complex environment. Usually, the range of power changes large. To
adapt to complex application environment excellently and improve the stability of system, the power
supply adopts advanced power technology, and power provided directly by external power supply
transformer.
Notice:
When DTU changes information with base station, the instantaneous current changes quickly and peak
current is very large. So it requires higher quality of external power supply transformer.
1.5 Detect The Network
Please connect the cable and ensure that it is correct, then connect antenna, put into a valid SIM card
and power the DTU, then the PWR indicator will light. If DTU connect to network, the online indicator
will flash. And it will normally light after connect to server. It indicates that DTU works normally. When
there is data transmission in user data interface, the ACT lamp flashes.
Notice:
Please confirm that antenna and serial port line connect DTU and SIM card has been inserted before
powering up.
2 Configuration Mode
There are three configuration mode for DTU: local serial port configuration, remote network
configuration and remote SMS configuration(only 3180 series support it).
2.1 Local Serial Port Configuration
There are two configuration of local serial port configuration, tool configuration and manual
configuration. The instruction focus on tool configuration.
2.1.1 Tool Configuration
1、Connect DTU and computer by serial port line, and pay attention to the serial port number of
computer.
The principle of connection between DTU and computer which is used to configure DTU
parameters as follow:
