Repeater for data logger DATA EASY+ 7200
Series
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Cod. 720082
Function
Repeater
cod. 720082
(100..240Vac 50-60Hz power supply)
The repeaters use a technology that allows you to expand the
Wireless M-Bus networks. The repeaters will automatically
establish the connection that allows the best signal quality and,
upon receipt of the Wireless M-Bus data, they route it to the data
logger DATA EASY
+
. In case one of the repeaters is off or faulty,
the remaining repeaters will try automatically to re-create a
network with full coverage that allows communication from every
device. In this condition the 720082 behaves as a multi-hop
repeater.

USB CONNECTION
CONNECTION AT DATA EASY +
The repeaters are provided with a MESH ID and radio channel.
Make sure that all the repeaters and/or Data Easy
+
have the
same MESH network ID and radio channel through Data Easy
Toolkit software.
Before connecting anything, switch the power off, complete the
wiring, close the lid and power the device on.
Positioning and operating distances
1) Fix the repeater on
fastening wall at minimum
distance of 20 cm from the
ceiling and from the
adjacent wall.
2) The maximum operating
distance between Wireless
M-Bus and devices
installed on the same floor
is approximately 25 meters,
evaluated in the absence of
important obstacles such as: walls, columns or reinforced
concrete beams, metal or other metal structures.
3) The maximum operating distance between Wireless M-Bus
and devices installed on different floors is approximately 15
meters.

3
Special cases of use
The following image shows an installation in which either due to
network layout reasons or for a number of devices exceeding 500 (Max
500 for each Data Easy +), it is necessary to create four different
networks of repeaters.
The following applies also when the number of networks is 2, 3 or
higher than 4.
Important!
It is recommended not to change the MESH network channel
(default =13 both on Data Easy
+
and on repeaters), because the change
may involve the transmission power of the devices.
Network configuration
1. Power on Data Easy+, connect to web interface and start the
search of devices following the "User guide Data Easy+"
manual.
2. Activate the OMS/Wireless M-Bus trasmission in the devices
trough the parametrization or reading following the "User
guide Data Easy+ " manual.
3. Power on the first repeater to be installed and move it away
to a minimum distance of 5 meters from Data Easy+.
4. Fixed blue repeater LED shows the connection to the MESH
network.
5. Once connected, it shows the MESH radio signal quality to
the gateway, by turning on the green front LED, 1 -
insufficient reception, 2 - sufficient, 3- good, 4 - excellent.
6. Place repeater in a place where the reception signal is >=2
and the reception of all the Wireless M-Bus devices you
expect to receive with this repeater is satisfactory.
7. Check through Data Easy+ web that Wirelss M-Bus devices,
that you want to receive, reach the repeater.
8. Fasten the repeater and proceed with powering a second
repeater keeping it at least 5 metres away from both the
repeater and Data Easy+ .
9. Once connected, it shows the MESH radio signal quality to
the gateway, by turning on the front LED, so proceed as for
the first repeater.
The default scanning phase is 13 hours. Is possible to modify
its duration through Data Easy+ web server.
Is possible to have various independent repeaters networks in
the same building, in that case, you need to have different ID
or channel for each repeater group and the relative Data
Easy+. You can modify these parameters through Data Easy
Toolkit software installed on a PC and connect via mini USB
cable to repeater, see the "User guide Data Easy+ " manual for
details.
Settings of MESH network ID
In order to avoid interferences between the various systems,
assign to each Data Easy+ a different MESH network ID. The
setting is done on Data Easy+ ” through its web interface with the
following way:
“Settings / Wireless Devices / Device search / Setup Mesh
Network”.
The same MESH network ID setting must be carried out also on all
repeaters that are part of the network of the Data Easy+ which they
have to communicate with.
For this procedure it is necessary to connect a PC to the repeater
to be configured (via mini USB cable), use the Data Easy Toolkit
(installation programs available on the Caleffi USB stick supplied)
and follow the instructions in the "User guide Data Easy+ " manual.
Note: lt is recommended not to change the MESH Network
Channel (default = 13 both on Data Easy
+
and on repeaters),
because the change may involve the transmission power of the
devices.
Repeaters firmware upgrade
You should always check for an updated release of the firmware of
the repeaters. The one installed during the production phase might
be obsolete.
Far this procedure it is necessary to connect a PC to the repeater
to be configured (via cable USB). Use the Data Easy Toolkit
software (installation programs available on the Caleffi USB stick
supplied) and follow the instructions in the manual.

Troubleshooting
1) The device does not start:
- in case of network power supply, check that the power
is on;
- in case you are using a USB port, check the USB cable
quality and that the PC is enabled to handle 500 mA of
electrical power.
2) The blue led light does not stop flashing:
- check that the device Data Easy+ is on and that the
repeater is connected and in good position (avoid
placing it in switchboards or shielded environments);
- check that repeater is at least 5 meters distant from
Data Easy+ and from other repeater;
- check that the ID and the MESH network channel are
correct using Data Easy Toolkit software and are the
same ones used by Data Easy+.
3) Not all the devices are found:
- check that the devices that were not found are not too
distant from repeaters or that the signal is not shielded
by thick concrete or metal walls;
- check that the OMS/Wireless M-Bus transmission is
active in the devices. Caleffi devices (MONITOR 2.0 -
2.0 E - PULSE) can be activated with the
parameterization or read function using the SW7200
software and the WSL868 USB / Radio key. Consult
the appropriate manual;
- check that the MESH network is working using the Data
Easy+ web interface.
Safety
The Data Easy+ data logger and the repeater must be installed by a qualified installer in accordance with national
regulations and / or local requirements.
