Camera Cheat Sheet – Canon 800D

CAMERA FUNCTIONS
Mode Dial
On the mode dial
Manual Mode (M)
should always be selected.
Shutter Speed
Adjustments are made by rotating the
‘Command
Dial’.
Scroll right for faster and left for slower.
Default setting 1/125.
Aperture
Adjustments are made by pressing & holding
down the
‘AV +/- button’
and rotating the
‘Command Dial’
(left for larger f/number and
right for smaller)
Default setting between f7.1 - f9.
ISO Sensitivity
Press the
“ISO”
button, then use the multi-selector to
highlight the ISO on the LCD display or use your finger to
slide to the option on the touch screen LCD and press
SET
.

CAMERA FUNCTIONS – QUICK CONTROL TOUCH SCREEN
Quick Control – LCD Touch Screen
Alternative to using the methods above you can use
theLCD Touch Screen & Quick Control Feature.
Press the
“Q”
Button then use the
Multi- Selector
arrows
to navigate to what you would like to
control or
touch
the section on the screen. Eg
Aperture,Shutter Speed, ISO.
Click
Set
to enter the adjutment and either use the
touch screen
or the
Command Dial
to select your option.
Click
Set
to confirm.
Touch Screen - Standard Display
If the
Black Quick Control
screen on the right above is
not the screen you can see.
Press
Menu
and navigate to tab 4 [ ] DISPLAY
LEVEL and change the shooting menu and Menu
display to
Standard
instead of
Guided
.
FOCUSING – THE FOCUS AREA
Due to the conditions we photograph in whilst on location in the shopping centres the best focus area mode is
Automatic selection AF.
This mode is where the camera automatically detects subjects and selects the focus
point(s).
Follow the steps below to select the correct (Auto Focus) AF-area mode.
1.
Press the
AF area selection
button
2.
Touch icon on the display screen to select
Auto Selection AF
.
PRESET MANUAL WHITE BALANCE PROCEDURE
1. Press the
Menu
button (top left above LCD
screen)
2. Using the multi selector to navigate to the
Shooting Settings
- Tab
3
Select
White Balance
3. Select the option
Custom
4. Insert a SD Card into the Camera -
Unplug the
tethered camera cable
5. Take a photo of your white balance sheet. We are
measuring the white balance for our on-location
lighting set up and everyday can be different
Hold the white sheet where the customers will be
standing/seated. Zoom in using the lens to make
the white sheet fill the camera frame.
6. Now go back to
Shooting Settings
-
Tab 3
and
click on
Custom White Balance
7. Select the photo you just took of your white
balance sheet
8.
“Use WB Data From this image”
– Click
Set
and
OK
to use the selected photo as your custom
white balance
9. Remove SD Card
Insert the camera cable back into the camera
10. Take a test photo – check results
