Before Starting to Shoot, Be Sure to Read the Following
To avoid shooting problems and accidents, first read the "Safety Instructions"
( lll 21 -QJ 23) and "Handling Precautions" ( QJ 24-QJ26) .Also,
read this manual carefully to ensure that you use the camera correctly.
Refer to This Manual while Using the Camera to Further
Familiarize Yourselfwith the Camera
While reading this manual, take a few test shots and see howthey come
out. You can then better understand the camera. Be sure to store this
manual safely, too, so that you can refer to itagain when necessary.
Testing the Camera Before Use and Liability
After shooting, play images back and check whetherthey have been
properly recorded. If the camera or memorycard is faulty and the images
cannot be recorded or downloaded to a computer, Canon cannot be held
liable for any loss or inconvenience caused.
Copyrights
Copyright laws in some countries prohibit the unauthorized use of images
recorded with the camera (ormusic/images with musictransferred to the
memorycard) for purposes otherthan personal enjoyment. Also be aware
that certain public performances, exhibitions, etc. may prohibit photography
even for private enjoyment.

Insert the battery {lll38).
• Upon purchase, charge the battery
to start using (QJ36).
Insert the card (lll38).
• With the card's label facing toward
the back of the camera, insert it into
the carg slot.
Attach the lens (W 44).
• Align the red mount index on the
lens with the red mount index on
the camera to attach the lens.
• Make sure the lens's focus mode
switch is set to <AF> (QJ44).
Set the power switch to <ON>
(W42).
Flip out the screen (W 41 ).
• When the date/time/zone setting
screen isdisplayed, see CD 167.

Quick Start Guide
Set the Mode dial to <CU>
(C064).
• All the necessary camera settings
will be set automatically.
Focus on the subject (W50).
• <: :> (an AF point) appears over
any face detected.
• Press the shutter button halfway,
and the camera will focus on the
subject.
Take the picture (W 50).
• Press the shutter button completely
to take the picture.
Review the picture.
• The imagejust captured will be
displayed for approx. 2 sec. on the
screen.
• To display the image again, press
the <[E> button {W150).
• To view the images captured so far, see "Image Playback" (QJ 150).
• To delete images, see "Erasing Images" ((l) 156).

About This Manual
• Before following any instructions, make sure the power switch is set to
<ON> and the Multi-function lock feature is off (Ql42, QJ54).
• It is assumed that all the menu settings and Custom Functions are set to
their defaults.
• The illustrations in this manual show the camera attached with the RF24-
105mm F4 L IS USM lens as an example.
• The sample photos displayed on the camera and used in this manual are
for instructional purposes only.
• In references to using EF or EF-S lenses, it is assumed that a mount
adapter is used.

Compatible Cards
The following cards can be used with the camera regardless of capacity.
Ifthe card is new or was previously formatted (initialized) by another
camera or computer, format the card with this camera (lJJ 161 ).
• SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards
UHS-11 and UHS-1 cards supported.
When recording movies, use a high-capacity card with ample performance
(fast enough writing and reading speeds) for the movie recording size.
