PICTURE PERFECT
18 advanced picture-taking modes give you the freedom to explore
your creativity and create images with specific effects in mind.
 Auto – Sets all the parameters, so
you can simply point and shoot.
 Portrait – Ensures your subject is sharply focused
and the background beautifully blurred.
 Landscape – Uses a smaller aperture
to capture sweeping landscape scenes.
 Night Scene – Makes a challenging
situation easy by properly illuminating
both subject and background.
 Fast Shutter – Selects rapid shutter
speeds to freeze fast-moving subjects.
 Slow Shutter – Selects slow shutter speeds
to add motion blur to images.
 Stitch Assist – Helps you shoot images that can be merged
(‘stitched’) into a larger image using supplied PhotoStitch
software. Images can be easily aligned (horizontally, vertically or
tiled) to create a long panorama or even poster-sized print with
superb detail.
 Movie – Records and plays back
3 minute movies, with sound.
 Program – Selects aperture and shutter
speed, then you can set all other parameters.
 Shutter Speed Priority – Lets you be more
creative with your shots – choose fast shutter
speeds for action shots or slow shutter speeds
for motion blur. The camera automatically
adjusts aperture.
 Aperture Priority – Lets you set the
aperture to control depth of field. The camera
automatically adjusts shutter speed.
 Manual – Allows aperture, ISO and shutter speed to be
selected manually for complete control over exposure. Ideal
for special effects.
SPECIAL SCENE MODES
A new range of specially designed pre-sets:
Foliage – Capture brilliant shots of autumn
foliage or greenery.
Snow – Shoot clear snow scenes without
darkened subjects and bluish tint.
Beach – Take clear shots of people at a sunny
beach without darkened faces.
Fireworks – For great shots of
skyrocketing fireworks.
Under Water – Optimises white balance for
under water photography, minimising blue tint
for more natural colours.
Indoor – For sharp, accurately exposed
interior shots.

CANON DIRECT PRINT
You don’t need a computer to print with the PowerShot A85. You
can print on the spot with Canon’s Direct Print function. Simply
connect the camera to a Canon Bubble Jet Direct or CP Photo
printer, select your image and press ‘print’.
The PowerShot A85 also connects directly to any PictBridge
compatible photo printer.
