Using the Telescope:
Onceyouhaveproperlyassembledandalignedyourtelescope
youarenallyreadytostartusingit.
•Tolocateanobjectusingthetelescope,rstloosenthe
altitudelock(17)allowingthetelescopetorotatealong
bothaxes.Lookthroughthenderscope(4)tosightthe
objectyouarelookingforandcenteritinthenderscope
cross-hairs.Thenre-tightenthealtitudelock.
•Itisbesttousethelowestpowereyepiece(theKellner25
mmeyepiece)atrst.Thisallowsforawidereldofview
makingiteasiertolocateobjects.Oncetheobjectis
centeredintheeldofviewyoucanswitchtheeyepieceto
highermagnications.
•Oncetheobjectiscenteredintheeldofview,turnthe
focusknob(9)untiltheimageisclearandsharp.
•Youwillnoticethattheobjectyouareviewingwillslowly
moveacrosstheeldofview(causedbytherotationofthe
Earth).Youwillneedtoturnthehorizontalandaltitude
adjustmentknobsregularlytokeeptheobjectcentered
whileviewing.
•Theorientationoftheimageyouseethroughboththe
nderscopeandeyepieceofthistelescopeisnormal.
Thisallowsyoutousethistelescopeeffectivelywhen
viewingterrestrialaswellasastronomicalobjects.
Therearemanyconditionsthatmayaffectyourabilitytofocusor
observecelestialobjectsclearly.
•Brightlylitareas(lightpollution)willmakeitdifcultto
seefaintobjectsinthesky.Itwillalsomakeitdifcultfor
youreyestoadjusttothedark.Youshouldtryandnda
darkareaandallowyoureyestoadjusttothedarkbefore
makingobservations.Usingaredlteredashlighttoview
charts and your telescope components is recommended to
preserveyournightsight.Thebestviewingconditionsare
whentheskyisinkyblack.
•Hazyskies,pollution,cloudsandmoisturecanallaffectthe
clarityofyourviewingimage.
•Avoidtouchingtheeyepieceoropticaltubewhilelooking
throughthetelescope.Thevibrationscausedbythis
contactwillcausetheobjectyouarelookingattomove.
