properelectrostaticdischarge(ESD)precautions. Considerusingground
straps, gloves, ESDmats, orotherprotectivemeasurestoavoiddamaging
theprocessorandotherelectricalcomponentsinthesystem.

#1 DisengageLoadLeverbydepressingdownandoutonthehookto
clearretentiontab.RotateLoadLevertofullyopenpositionat
approximately135°
#2 RotateLoadPlatetofullyopenpositionatapproximately100°.
RemoveSocketProtectiveCover.Withlefthandindexfingerand thumb
tosupporttheloadplateedge,engageprotectivecoverfingertabwith
righthandthumbandpeelthecoverfromLGA775 Socketwhilepressing
oncenterofprotectivecovertoassistinremoval.
#3 Locatethetwoorientationkeynotches.
#4 Grasptheprocessorwiththumband indexfinger.(Grasptheedges
withouttheorientationnotches.)Thesockethascutoutsforyourfingers
tofitinto. Carefullyplace thepackageintothesocketbodyusingapurely
verticalmotion. (Tiltingtheprocessorintoplace orshiftingit intoplace
onthesocketcandamagethesensitivesocketcontacts.)

Takegreatcarewhenhandlingand
implementing thememory,becauseit
isnotcheapanymore.Memory
DIMMs will onlygo inoneway,so
don'ttryandforce it.Lineupthe
DIMM andpushdowngently.Then,
whenit'sinplace,lockitinwith
whiteconnectors, as shownontherightimage.
Warning
Thismainboardcontains4memoryslotswhichuse184-pinDDR
SDRAMwithatotalmemorycapacityofupto4GB.Youmustinstall
unbuffered/non-ECC DDR-SDRAMDIMMs witheither256 MB,512
MB,or1GBofmemory.ThesemodulesmustbeeitherDDR400
(PC3200)orDDR333 (PC2700)SDRAM.
Tips
ThismainboardprovidesDual-ChannelfunctionalityforitsDIMM slots.
Enabling Dual-Channelcansignificantlyincreaseyourdataaccess rates.
DIMM1andDIMM2shareonechannel,whileDIMM3andDIMM4
sharethesecondchannel.Enabling Dual-Channelsimplymeanstomake
surethatthetotalmemoryforthetwochannelsisbalanced.Forexample:
Ifyouinstallone256 MBmoduleinDIMM1andoneinDIMM2
(256MBx2=512MB),youmustinstallatotalof512 MBbetween
DIMM3andDIMM4.Inbalancingthememoryonthetwochannels, you
have, ineffect, enabledDual-Channel.

FloppyDiskConnector:FDC
Thismainboardprovidesastandardfloppydisk
connector(FDC)thatsupports360K,720K,1.2M,
1.44Mand2.88Mfloppydiskettedrives. This
connectorsupportsthefloppydriveribboncablesprovidedinthe
packaging.
IDE1(PrimaryIDEConnector)
Youcan connect2IDEdevices totheIDE1connector
usingasingleribbon cablewith3connectors(2forthe
drives andonetoconnecttotheboard).Ifyouareconnecting1drive,you
shouldconfigureitastheMasterdevice.Ifyouareconnectingasecond
drive,youmustconfigureitastheSlavedevice (seeyourharddrivemanual
formaster/slave configuration specifics).Ifyouhavean IDECD-ROM
drive,youjustcan attach ittothisconnector.
SATA1-4(SerialATAconnector)
These SATAconnectors(SATA1 –SATA4)support
SerialATA150.EachSATAconnectorcan onlysupport
oneserialATAdevice. Note:Withmoststoragedevices,
thereisapowercablethatyouneedattachtoapowersource (power
supply).

SW/LED
HDLED(HardDriveLEDConnector)
ThisconnectorcanbeattachedtoanLEDonthefrontpanelofa
computercase. TheLEDwillflickerduringanydiskactivity.
RST SW(ResetConnector)
ThisconnectorcanbeattachedtoamomentarySPSTswitch.Thisswitch
isnormallyleftopen.Whencloseditwillcausethemainboardtoreset
andrunthePOST(PowerOnSelfTest).
PWR-LED(2-pinPowerLED)
Themainboardprovidesatwo-pinpowerLEDconnector.Ifthereisa
2-pinpowerLEDcableonthefrontpanelofyourcomputercase,youcan
attachittothe2-pinpowerLEDconnector.TheLEDwillilluminate
showingthatthecomputeris poweredon.
PWRON(PowerButton)
Thisconnectorcanbeattachedtoafrontpanelpowerswitch.Theswitch
mustpullthePowerButtonpintogroundforatleast50 mstosignalthe
powersupplytoswitchonoroff(thetimerequiredisduetointernal
debounce circuitryonthesystemboard).Atleasttwosecondsmustpass
beforethepowersupplywillrecognize anotheron/off signal.
PWR-LED(3-PinPower LED)
Thismainboardprovidesa3-pinpowerLEDconnector.
Ifthereisa3-pinpowerLEDcableonthefrontpanelof
acomputercase,youcanattachit tothe3-pinpower
LEDconnector.TheLEDwillilluminateshowingthat
thecomputeris poweredon.

SPEAKER(Speaker)
Afrontpanelspeakercanbeattachedtothisconnector.
Thisspeakerisusedforaudiblebeepsduringthebootup
process (PowerOnSelf-Test).Asingle“shortbeep”is
normal, while“irregularbeeps”signalproblems.
RearPanelConfiguration
PS/2Mouse&PS/2KeyboardConnectors:KB/MS
ThismainboardprovidesastandardPS/2mouseconnectorand PS/2
keyboardconnector. Thepinassignments aredescribedbelow:
