Beforefirst use ofgrill:
Removeall packagingandsalelabelsfromthegrill,Donotusesharp
toolstoremovestickers.
Washcookinggratewithwarmsoapywater,rinseanddrythroughly,
Beforeeach useof grill:
Usegrillonlyon afirmandlevelsurfaceto preventtippingover.
Topreventhouseholdcircuitbreakersfromtripping,keepelectric
controllerdryanddo notuseotherelectricalproductsonthesame
circuit.
Checkgreasecupto makesureitis emptyandismountedunderthe
drainhole.
Forstick-freecooking,applyathoroughcoatingofvegetableoilor
vegetableoil basedspraytothecookinggrate,
Turn grill on:
EnsureelectricalcontrolleristurnedfullycounterclockwisetoOFF
position.
Plugpowersupplycordintoa properlygrounded,GFIprotected
outlet.Ifextensioncordmustbeusedreferto"ExtensionCordUse
andSafety"onpage3.
Withcontrollerfullyseatedingrill,turnknobclockwise,Indicatorlight
shouldcomeon,
Preheatingthegrill:
Keeplidclosed.
Preheatforsearing,15-20minuteswithcontrollersetto MAX.(See
illustrationbelow)
Forfoodsrequiringa lowercookinggratetemperatureusea setting
lowerthanmaximum.Seecookingchart.
Whenthecontrollerlightturnsoff,themaximumtemperaturehas
beenreachedfor theknobsetting.During usethis light will cycle
on and off.

Grilling:
Forbestresults,cookwith lidonthegrilltoholdin heatand provide
completecooking.
Temperaturegaugeon thelid indicatesapproximatecooking
temperatureinsidethegrill.
Duringinitialcookingphaseit iscommonforthegaugetoshowthe
temperaturefallingbeloworiginalpreheatvalue.Astimecontinues
temperaturewillrisesomewhat,indicatingfoodisbeingproperly
heatedandcooked.
Controllersettingforvariousfoodsaredependantuponconditions
andpersonalcookingpreferences,
CAUTION
Donotusesharpor pointedtoolstocleangrill,Thesetypecleaning

Donotuseabrasiveovencleaners,steelwoolor metalbrushesto
cleanporcelaingratesor grillbody.Theywill damagethefinish.
Replacedamagedinsulationbow(s)onlywithChar-Broilcertified
replacementparts,Donotattempttorepairdamagedparts,
IncaseoffireturncontrollertoOFF,unpluggrillfromoutletandallow
fireto burnout.Donotusewaterto putoutafire inthisor another
electricalappliance.
Toavoidelectricalshockdisconnectelectriccordandremoveelectric
controllerbeforeremovingheatingelementandcleaninggrill,Never
immerseelectriccontrollerorheatingelementin anyliquid.
Toavoidthepossibilityofburnsbesuregrill iscoolbeforeremoving
and/orcleaningelectriccontrollerand heatingelement.
Controlling greasefires:
Althoughsomeflare-upisdesirableas burningjuicesgivemeatthatchar
-broiledflavor;toomuchflare-upcanresultina firehazardandovercook
meat.Toaid incontrollinggreasefiresusethefollowingprecautions:
Keepgrillfreefromgrease;chanceoffire isgreatlyincreasedby
greasebuildup.
Use10ceramicbriquetsmaximum.Replaceorremovegreasy
briquetstoavoidgreasefires.
Removingbriquetsandgrate,or reducingnumberofbriquetsto5 will
decreasechancesofflare_up.
Trimexcessfat off meatanduselessfattycutsof meattoreduce
chanceofgreasefires.
Ifflare-upoccursduringcookingreducecontrollersettingandclose
lid.
Ifflare-upcontinuesturncontrollerto OFFandunplugthepower
cord,
Turngrill off:
Turncontrollerknobfullycounterclockwiseto OFFposition,
Unplugcordfromoutlet.
Removecontrollerfromgrillandstoreindoors,
Cleaningelectrical controller and heatingelementbracket:
Cleancontrollercasebywipingwitha dampclothusinga mild
detergentor hotsoapywater.
It isnotnecessarytocleantheheatingelement.However,the
elementbracketmaybecleanedwithadampclothusinga mild
detergentor hotsoapywater.
Dryelectricalcontrollerand heatingelementbeforeuse,

Cleaningyourgrill:
Excessbuildupofburnedgreaseandfoodparticleswillreducethegrill's
cookingperformance.Toobtainoptimumperformance.
Cleanthelowerinsulationbowlatleastonceaseason,moreoften
withheavyuse.

Cleanporcelainlidandbodywithanon-abrasivecleaner,UseCream
ofTarterforstubbornstains,
Replaceceramicbriquetsasfrequentlyasnecessarytoavoidgrease
buildupandflare_ups.
Replacementofflavoredceramicbriquetswillrestorehickorysmoke
