Front Seats
Manual Seats
To adjust the seat, pull the lever up to release the seat
bottom. Slide the seat
to where you want it and then
release the lever. Try
to move the seat with your body,
to make sure the seat is locked into place.
The bucket seats can be adjusted forward or rearward
with the lever located at the front of the seat.
adjust a manual driver’s seat while the vehicle
is moving. The sudden movement could startle
and confuse you, or make you push a pedal
when you don’t want to. Adjust the driver’s
seat only when the vehicle is not moving.

Power Seat Reclining Seatbacks
If your vehicle has a power seat on the driver’s or
passenger’s side, you can adjust it with these controls
located at the front center of the seat cushion.
To raise or lower the seat, move the center knob up or
down.
To move the seat forward or rearward, move
the center knob toward the right or left.
To adjust the seatback, lift the front of the lever, which
is located on the inboard side of the seat cushion.
Move the seatback with your body and release the lever
to lock the seatback where you want it. Lean forward
and pull up on the front of the lever and the seatbackwill
go
to an upright position.
To raise or lower the front of the seat cushion, move the
right lever up or down. To raise or lower the rear of
the seat cushion, move the left lever up or down.

But don’t have a seatback reclined if your vehicle is
moving.
Sit

buckle up, your safety belts can’t do their job
when you’re reclined like this.
The shoulder belt can’t do its job because
it
won’t be against your body. Instead, it will be
in front of you. In a crash you could go into it,
receiving neck or other injuries.
The lap belt can’t do its job either.
In a crash
the belt could go up over your abdomen. The
belt forces would be there, not at your pelvic
bones. This could cause serious internal
injuries.
For proper protection when the vehicle
is in
motion, have the seatback upright. Then sit
well back in the seat andwear your safety belt
properly.

Rear Seats
Rear Seat Operation
Removing the Rear Seat
1. Disconnect the quick release latch plates for the lap
shoulder belts on the bench seat to be removed.
To
do this, press the tip of a key into the release
hole of the safety belt buckle while pulling up on the
safety belt.
There are two pins located on the inboard sides of the
rear seats. If the vehicle has floor mats, the pins
will be located under a flap that has been cut into the
mat.The driver’s side pin will have a black cap with
an
“I-” marked on it and will look like this:

The passenger’sside pin will have a white cap with an
“R” marked on it and will look like this:

Replacingthe Rear Seats

People in the vehicle could be injured. Be sure
to lock theseat into place properly when
installing
it.
A safety be...hat is improperly routed, not
properly attached, or twisted won’t provide the
protection needed
in a crash. The person
wearing the belt could
be seriously injured.
After raising the rear seatback, always check
to be sure that the safety belts are properly
routed and attached, and are not twisted.
1. Positionthe seat into the open slots in both rails.
Push the seat forward in the rail, hooking both
seat bases onto the pins inside of the rails.
2. To install the locking pins at the rear of the seat
base, locate the hole in the rail for the pin. It is
found on the inboard side of the seat. If the vehicle
has floor mats, pull the flap that has been cut
into the mat.
3. Insert the black or white locking pin into the seat
base. Possible slight seat pushing may be needed
to line up the pin with the base. Remember,
each pin has its own side. The pin with the white
handle marked “R” must be installed on the
passenger’s side and the pin with the black handle
marked
“L” on the driver’s side.

4. Push the pin with the white handle marked “R”
down until it is in the retaining clip.
5. Push the pin with the black handle marked ‘I“

Safety Belts
Safety Belts: They Are for Everyone
This part of the manual tells you how to use safety
belts properly.
It also tells you some things you should
not do with safety belts.

Don’tletanyoneride lere heorshecan’t
wear a safety belt properly. If you are
in a
crash and you’re not wearing a safety belt,
your injuries can be much worse. You can hit
things inside the vehicle or be ejected from it.
You can be seriously injured or killed. In the
same crash, you might not be, if you are
buckled up. Always fasten your safety belt,
and check that your passengers’ belts are
fastened properly too.
It is extremely dangerous to ride in a cargo
area, inside or outside of
a vehicle. In a
collision, people riding in theseareas are more
likely to be seriously injured or killed.
Do not
allow people to ride in anyarea of your vehicle
that is not equipped with seats and safety
belts. Be sure everyone in your vehicle is in
a
seat and using a safety belt properly.

In most states and in all Canadian provinces, the law
says
to wear safety belts. Here's why: They work.
You never know if you'll be in a crash. If you do have a
crash, you don't know
if it will be a bad one.
A few crashes are mild, and some crashes can be so
serious that even buckled up, a person wouldn't survive.
But
most crashes are in between. In many of them,
people who buckle up can survive and sometimes walk
away. Without belts they could have been badly hurt
or killed.
After more than
30 years of safety belts in vehicles, the
facts are clear. In most crashes buckling up does
matter
... a lot!
Why Safety Belts Work
When you ride in or on anything, you go as fast as
it goes.
Take the simplest vehicle. Suppose it's just a seat on
wheels.
