MSR213V & MSR213U Download AP User's Guide
The Overview:
The MSR213V & MSR213U Download Application provides features that make it easier to update
firmware for MSR213V & MSR213U Card Readers via USB2.0/1.1 interfaces. This program supports
multiple devices, so you can easily update firmware to up to 8 MSR213V/MSR213U readers at the
same time.
Item Description
1 This will display the number of connected MSR213V/MSR213U readers.
Note: This download application cannot recognize any comm port above COM16!
2 Start download process.
3 Get device’s Firmware version. (Note: For MSR213U only)
4 Select F/W file to download, the filename/checksum for the selected file then appears.
5 Close the opened file.
6 Close and exit this download program.
7 Each child window handles a download process.

Installing the program:
1. Double-click on 21VDM61D.exe to begin the installation.
2. Click Next button.
3. Enter your user information and click Next to continue.
4. Windows will install the program at “C:\Program Files\MSR213V & MSR213U Download AP”.
(You may change the program directory that you want to install)
Click Next to continue.

5. Click on Finish to end the installation of “MSR213V & MSR213U Download AP”.

The Basic Operations:
Follow the instructions below to download firmware to your device(s). Please note that wrong
operation may cause unexpected results.
Caution
Do not execute any other application.
Never plug or unplug device(s) while downloading.
1. Connect MSR213V/MSR213U reader(s) to your PC host.
2. Launch the “MSR213V & MSR213U Download AP”.
3. Click on Check Device, and verify the number of connected MSR213V/MSR213U readers.
4. Click Load File to select the desired version of Firmware to download. (e.g. 21V0161O.bin)
5. The download button will become enable, press Download button to proceed.

6. The “Download OK” message will be displayed if the F/W update is successful!

7. Check reader’s LED status, Green LED means OK. If the LED status is not correct, go to next
section for “Troubleshooting”!
8. Disconnect the reader(s).
9. Connect another reader(s) that you want to update firmware.
10. Return to step 3 above.
11. Once the whole operation is finished, click Exit to close the application first, and then remove
your device(s) from the system.

Troubleshooting:
Verify if the device is recognized by your system, click on [Start] →[Control Panel] →[System]
→[Hardware] →[Device Manager].
For MSR213U:
For MSR213V:
1) If the LED is Amber flashing …
The firmware download process was not successful; perform download again to resolve this problem.
2) If the LED is Off …

In this case, you have to do firmware download in a specific way. This can be done via hardware,
please refer to programmer's manual “Solution for Firmware Corrupting” section.
