WARNING! When using electric tools, basic safety precautions, including the following, should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury.
Read all these instructions before operating this product and save these instructions.
1.1 Before Using
- Study this manual thoroughly
- Familiarise yourself with the operation of the hedge trimmer and learn to use it properly.
- Never allow others (especially children) who have not read the manual to use the
machine.
- If the unit must be given to other people, give them as this manual.
- Check that the voltage and frequency indicated on the specification label affixed to the
electrical hedge trimmer correspond to the mains electricity supply.
- Never remove the labels or security elements.
- To connect the hedge trimmer to the power, use only appropriate and compliant power
equipment in perfect condition. Use a flexible extension, brightly coloured for outdoor use with
a maximum length of fifty meters with conductors of at least 12mm.
- Keep the cord away from the radius of action of the machine and make sure it is not
subjected to tension. Move the cable from water, heat and sharp edges.
- Do not use the hedge trimmer if the trigger on / off does not work properly. If necessary,
contact your dealer for any repair.
- Never expose the electric hedge trimmer to rain or moisture. Never allow water or other
liquids enter the machine.
- Check the condition of the cutter blade, make sure it fastened and safe before each use.
Replace excessively worn or missing parts.
- Do not cut near other electrical machines.
- Do not operate hedge trimmer in an environment with flammable items such as liquids,
gases or dust. The sparks generated by the operation of the machine can cause an explosion.
- Do not start cutting until the work area is cleared and cleaned. Keep the work area clean
and tidy to reduce the risk of accident.
- During the first use, it is recommended that the user be accompanied by an experienced

person.
1.2 When Using
• Use the trimmer only in daylight or good artificial light.
• The use of power equipment can be regulated. Remember to comply with legal
regulations which may differ from one location to another.
• Do not use the machine if you are tired or ill. Also avoid use if you have consumed alcohol
or taken drugs.
• When using, keep hair away from the machine. Never wear loose clothing or accessories
such as ties, cords, scarves or jewellery that could get caught in the machine or in the cutting
system.
• Wear close-fitting clothing, convenient and protect you from cuts. Always wear long
trousers, sturdy and non-slip shoes, and protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, a
helmet with a visor and acoustic shield, etc
• Do not allow anyone to remain in the range of the electric hedge trimmer during use.
Keep people, children and animals away from work area. If it is a group work, keep sufficient
distance between people.
• Make sure that the handles are clean and dry. When the machine is running, always firmly
grip the front handle with your left hand and the rear handle with your right hand.
• Always work in a stable balanced and firm position. Do not work on slippery or unstable
ground.
• Firmly hold the hedge trimmer with both hands. Put yourself in a position that allows you
to withstand the forces applied by a backlash. Do not drop the machine.
• Always begin cutting with the blades moving.
• Take care during cutting: avoid trimmings and clippings causing injury.
• Never carry the electric hedge trimmer above shoulder height when cutting.
• Never operate a damaged machine. Ensure repairs are completed by qualified
technicians.
• Do not overload the machine. Always use the proper equipment for the job.
WARNING: To reduce the time of exposure to vibration and noise, it is preferable to use the
machine with frequent breaks, and limiting the duration of continuous work.
WARNING: The vibration level during actual use of the tool can differ from the declared
depending on how the tool is used total value, and the need to identify safety measures to
protect the operator are based on an estimate of the exposure in the actual conditions of use,
taking into account all parts of the user such as the times when the tool is turned off and when
it is running idle cycle.
1.3 After Using
- Always unplug the unit before undertaking any adjustments or maintenance - Do not carry
the hedge trimmer when it is not unplugged and completely stopped.
- Always follow the instructions provided for maintenance. After each use, check the
operation of safety devices, setting, tension and condition of parts. Maintain the unit. Replace

worn or damaged parts.
- Repair by qualified personnel only. For safety reasons, use only original parts
- Keep the electric hedge trimmer clean and keep it always disconnected in a dry place,
away from direct sunlight and out of reach of Children.
- Keep this manual carefully and consult it whenever you use the machine.
2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Unauthorised modifications can make your machine dangerous and lead to severe injury
during use. Cobra disclaims any liability in case of misuse or failure to comply with the
instructions and / or regulations in force.
2.1 Preparation of the hedge trimmer
CAUTION: Do not plug the machine to the power source until you fully assemble and set the
machine.
CAUTION: Wear gloves when handling the trimmer to avoid accidents with the cutter blades,
whose teeth are extremely sharp.
- Unpack the unit carefully check the condition of all parts. If in doubt, contact your dealer.
- Ensure all guards and handles are securely fitted before using.
2.2 Using the hedge trimmer
Before using, always check the presence and correct operation of safety devices. Also check
the status of the cutting system and its attachment. If necessary, replace or repair defective
components. Use only original parts or approved by Cobra.
WARNING: Never work with a damaged cutting blade or excessively worn because you might
hurt yourself.
2.2.1 Starting the hedge trimmer
- Fully unroll the power cord and use the cable hook to hang and connect it to the machine
as shown in Figure 1 below.
- Connect the extension cord to the power socket, taking care to not press any button
to prevent accidental starting.
- Remove the protective sleeve from the cutting blades. Always re-fit when not in use.
- Maintain proper footing and balance and do not overreach. Wear safety goggles, non-skid
footwear and rubber gloves when trimming. Always hold the trimmer, as shown in the
illustrations, with one hand on the body handle and one hand on the front handle. Never hold
the tool by the blade guard.
- Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both hands and simultaneously squeeze the trigger on
the rear handle with your right hand and the left hand pressing the front handle safety switch
forward as shown in Figure 2 below.

2.2.2 Stop the hedge trimmer
- Release the front handle safety switch and / or rear handle trigger to stop the machine
- The machine stops completely after a few seconds.
- Unplug the power socket for safety
2.2.3 Use of the rotary handle
- To facilitate the use of hedge trimmers in vertical sections, the front handle is adjustable
to 45 ° and 90 ° to the right and left.
- Note: Unplug the machine before rotating the throttle grip.
- Pull lock lever upwards to unlock the handle and rotate to the right or to the left to the
required position.

2.2.4 Using the hedge trimmer
- Do not use in the rain
- Preferably start with the parts closest to the power supply, moving away slowly.
- When cutting, make sure that the extension cord is always drawn behind you the side
already done.
- To prevent the power cord from being pulled from the hedge trimmer housing, use cord
loop which is a recessed into the back of the handle as shown below

- Start the trimmer before making contact with the hedge to prevent the blade blocking.
- Alternately use the two sides of the blade.
- For efficiency, tilt the blade about 10 ° without poking the tip of the trimmer. See fig.5
- For horizontal areas, go from the inside to the edge of the fence to cut down the branches
on the ground.

-Cutting horizontal hedges. To obtain level hedges, a piece of string can be stretched along
the length of the hedge as a guide.

- Cutting sides of hedges. Hold the trimmer as shown and begin at the bottom and
sweep up. (Fig. 7)

- If the height of the hedge is excessive, making several passes. Between each size, cut
large branches with pruning shears or a lopper.
- Work carefully near fences to avoid blocking the blade. Metal wire fences will damage the
blades.
- In case of blade blocking, stop and disconnect the machine before the cleaning.
2.3 Cleaning, maintenance, transportation and storage
CAUTION: All cleaning, transportation and maintenance must be done when machine is
stopped and unplugged.
2.3.1 Cleaning the electric hedge trimmer
- Clean the hedge trimmer after each use.
- Maintain the surface of the unit with a soft damp cloth. Never clean plastic with a chemical
that may damage it.
- Keep air intake clean and air vents free of debris to avoid overheating the motor.
CAUTION: Never immerse the of the trimmer electric wire in water or other liquids for cleaning.
Never clean the unit with strong high pressure or water .
- The blade should be regularly cleaned to remove residual resin. Preferably use a mild
solvent for this purpose. Leave for a few minutes and wipe the blade with a cloth.
- To optimise the operation of hedge trimmer and avoid corrosion, oil the blade and the
guide rail after each use with an environmentally friendly lubricant.
CAUTION: Wear gloves when handling the trimmer to avoid any accidents related to the blade,
the teeth are extremely sharp.
2.3.2 Maintenance of hedge trimmer
Sharpening blades:
For best results, do sharpen the cutting edges of the blade at least once a year at a specialist
workshop. For your local Cobra dealer www.cobragarden.co.uk If necessary, replace the dull
or damaged blade in a specialist workshop.
Blade lubrication:
Firstly disconnect the power to the trimmer. Wear heavy duty gloves. Lubricate the trimmer
blades before and after use. Use a light machine oil, applying along the edge of blade bar.

2.3.3 Transport and storage of the hedge trimmer
- Always unplug the machine when storing or carrying.
- Store your trimmer in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
- For long-term storage, lightly oil the cutter blade.
- Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain agents which greatly accelerate the
corrosion of metals. Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals.
- With the unit unplugged, use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let
any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
- Do not carry the trimmer when it is not completely off and unplugged.

4. PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

5. PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT
To protect the environment, we recommend the following:
• Take care of your hedge trimmer regularly and replace damaged parts.
• When your device is at the end of its life, ensure that it is disposed of appropriately.
Waste Disposal
According to the European Directive on the disposal of waste electrical and
electronic equipment, power tools that are no longer usable must be collected
and follow a path of appropriate recycling. Do not dispose of electric tools together with
the household waste.
6. GUARANTEE
This Cobra product carries a guarantee of 12 months. If your product develops a fault within
this period, you should, in the first instance contact the retailer where the item was purchased.
This guarantee specifically excludes losses caused due to:
- Fair wear and tear
- Misuse or abuse
- Use in contravention of the instructions.
- Use when the product has been subject to unauthorised modifications or alterations or
Commercial use.
- Lack of routine maintenance
- Failure of consumable items
- Accidental damage
- Cosmetic damage
- Failure to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines
- A change in circumstances, leading to the customer no longer needing the goods

any enquiries relating to the guarantee please refer to your retailer.
If the issue cannot be resolved over the telephone or by email, you may be referred to your
local approved service dealer.
