Installation and Mounting:
Installation of the C3900 Slim Speaker in the 2015+ Dodge Charger
is much easier if the entire front facia of the Charger is removed
before the installation begins but it is not necessary. The speaker
may be installed without removing the facia as follows.
Step 1. Raise the vehicle on a rack and remove the black plastic
splash guard that is underneath the front facia of the Charger to
gain access to the space between the back of the grill and the air
conditioner coil. Set the plastic splash guard aside. See the picture
of the splash guard in Figure 1.
Step 2. Locate the front bumper/facia cross member. See the picture
of the cross member in Figure 2.
Step 3. Refer to the exploded view & parts list for bracket
identication. Position the top speaker mounting bracket Part
Number T17202 onto the Charger’s bumper cross member in the
center of the grill or as desired and as shown in Figure 3. Position
the bottom speaker mounting bracket part number T17201 up
against the underside of the Charger’s bumper Cross member and
as shown in Figure 3 making sure the slots in the bottom bracket
engage the studs in the top bracket.
Step 4. Using the bracket as a template, mark the location of the
center of the square hole in the bottom bracket on the underside
of the bumper cross member (See Figure 3 again). Remove both
brackets and use a center punch to dimple the cross member at
the center of the mark to keep the drill from walking off of location.
Depending on the desired location you may be marking and drilling
through a plastic portion of the grill before drilling through the metal
bumper cross member. Drill an 11/32” hole through both levels of the
bumper cross member as shown in Figure 3. Caution: Make sure to
drill the hole as straight as possible as shown and noted in Figure 3.
Step 5. Position the top and bottom brackets up against the cross
member as shown in Figure 4. Make sure the slots in the bottom
bracket engage around the studs in the top bracket. Feed the
supplied 5/16”-18 X 2 1 /2” long carriage bolt through the square hole
in the bottom bracket, through the drilled holes in the cross member
and nally through the slot in the top bracket. Slip the supplied 5/16”
split lock washer and 5/16”–18 hex nut onto the carriage bolt. Hand
tighten the nut as much as possible making sure the square portion
of the carriage bolt is fully seated in the square hole in the bottom
bracket. Tighten the nut with a wrench to fasten the brackets and
clamp them to the cross member.
Step 6. Fasten the speaker/s to the 220-1100-00 speaker mounting
plate using (2) of the supplied 1 /4” split lock washers and (2) of the
1/4”-20 X 1 1 /4” long Philips pan head machine screws to mount
each speaker. See Figure 5 for the single speaker version and see
Figure 6 for the dual speaker version. Note: Make sure the speakers
are mounted in the correct orientation with the word “BOTTOM” at
the bottom of the assembly (See the Figures 5 and 6 for correct
speaker orientation). Caution: Severe damage could occur to the
speaker if it is not mounted in the proper orientation.
Step 7. Position the slotted ange of the speaker mount bracket over
the threaded studs on the top bracket and thread (2) of the supplied
1 /4”-20 hex keps nuts onto the studs to fasten the speaker bracket
to the vehicle. See Figure-7. Tighten the hex nuts with a wrench.
Step 8. Route the wires as desired and replace the plastic lower
facia cover.
Note: You may need to loosen the lower outer corners of the
vehicles front facia or the lower grill to allow the grill to be pushed
out of the way enough to facilitate drilling the hole straight
through the cross member.
