This document explains how to properly replace the ink pad
and filter for the Codonics Safe Label System
®
(SLS) Point of
Care Station (PCS).

1. Unload labels and remo e them from the unit.
2. Properly power down the unit and unplug the power
cord.
3. Remo e the rear door and set it aside.
4. Lay the unit on its left side and place a rag on the work
surface under the fan co er.
5. Use a T10 screwdri er to remo e the two screws securing
the fan co er. Sa e the screws for step 14.
6. Carefully remo e the fan co er and lay it on top of the
rag.
7. Use a rag soaked with 99% alcohol to clean the fan co er.
Caution: The ink pad and filter in the SLS will be
saturated with ink and messy to handle. Wear glo es
during this process.



8. The ink pad will be saturated with ink making it messy
to handle. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remo e the
pad and discard it.
9. The ink filter will be saturated with ink making it messy
to handle. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remo e the
filter and discard it.
10. Use a rag soaked with 99% alcohol to clean excess ink
from the unit chassis.
11. Fold the new ink filter in half as shown, and then fold the
sides down to form an “M” shape.
12. Press the new ink filter into the ribs as shown.
13. Place the new ink pad into place o er the filter.



14. Place the fan co er into position and secure with the two
screws from step 5 using a T10 screwdri er.
15. The process is complete. Turn the unit upright, replace
the rear door, plug it in and reload labels.
