Installation & operation of
your Freezer/Refrigerator
It is important that your appliance is installed and
operated in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions to guarantee the performance,
efficiency and operation.
• Positiontheapplianceinasafe&securelocation.
Limit exposure to heat sources or direct sunlight
which can affect the unit’s performance and
efficiency.
• Thenormaloperationoftheappliancerequires
heat to be radiated away from the condensers
located in the front and end of the cabinet.
Adequateairowisrequiredtobeavailable
around the compressor at all times.
• Thecoolingsystemhasbeendesignedto
operate correctly when the appliance is
positioned on angles up to 35 degrees. It is
recommended that the time the unit is exposed
toanglesover30degreesislimitedtoa
maximum of four (4) hours continuous operation.
• Yourappliancecanbeusedaseitherafreezer
or a refrigerator, it cannot be used as both
simultaneously.
Important
• Thisapplianceisnotintendedforuseby
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
ofexperienceandknowledge,unlesstheyhave
beengivensupervisionorinstructionconcerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for
their safety.

Power Requirements
TheFreezer/Refrigeratorisdesignedtooperateon
AC&DCvoltageinputs.
AC Input – Voltage is required to be
220-240V AC at 50Hz
DC Input – Voltage is required to be
12-24V DC +/-10%
ThepowersystemisttedwithanAutomaticVoltage
changeoverprogram;thiswillallowforboththeAC&
DC power cords to be connected to the appliance at
thesametime.TheACpowerinputhaspriorityand
theunitwillselectthisinputoverDCifbotharebeing
provided.
Once the AC power is shut off the appliance will then
switchovertoDCpower.Thecompressorwillnot
start immediately as the controller will program itself
for the change in supply and within 3 minutes the unit
willrestartusingtheDCinput.Thissameprocesswill
be taken if AC power is resupplied to the appliance.
Defrosting the cabinet
If your appliance is being used solely as a
freezer,itispossiblethatabuildupoficeon
theinteriormayoccur.Thisbuildupcanaffectthe
performance&efciencyofthecoolingsystemand
mustberemoved.
Donotusesolidorsharputensilssuchasknivesto
removetheiceasthismayresultindamagetotheunit.
Turntheapplianceoffandremovethecontentfrom
the cabinet, allow the ice to melt, then drain the water
from the cabinet. Use a soft clean cloth
to wipe down all surfaces and allow to dry.
Operation of the controller
ThetemperaturecontrollerttedtoyourFreezer/
Refrigeratorprovidestheabilitytosetthedesired
temperaturelevel.Thedigitalreadoutwillprovide
informationonthecabinet&settemperature.
Theelectroniccontrollerhasbeenprogrammed
tomaintainanaverageofthesettemperature.
Thecompressorwillstartupwhentheinternal
cabinettemperatureincreasesabovetheselected
and will run until the temperature is 2 to 3 degrees
below the set before shutting off.
Setting the temperature
WhenyourFreezer/Refrigeratorisrstconnected
to AC or DC input, the LED light will identify the
selectedvoltage,thereadoutwillashforve(5)
seconds showing the factory setting of -20 degrees,
it will then return to the current cabinet temperature.
TosetthetemperaturepushtheUp/Downbuttons
until the desired cabinet temperature is reached, the
readoutwillashforve(5)secondsthenreturnto
the current cabinet temperature.

DC Power Connection
TheFreezer/Refrigerator is supplied with a 1.5m
power cord fitted with a cigarette lighter fitting.
It is recommended that this lead is not lengthened
asthismayresultinavoltagedropandreduced
performance.
When connecting the appliance to DC power
ensure that the power socket is switched “off”.
Plugthe1.5mpowercordintotheDCsocketon
the appliance and then plug the other end of the
1.5m power cord into the DC supply and switch on.
Foroptimumperformance&efciency,itis
important that the appliance has a reliable 10amp
fuse protected DC supply in good condition. Direct
connection to the battery is recommended and
reducestheriskofvoltagedroppingtotheappliance.
Itisrecommendedthatthecorrectsized
AutomotiveElectricalCableisusedforthedirect
connectionandthatthisincludesa10ampfuse;
do not use resetable circuit breakers. It is important
thatthecorrectcablesizeisusedfortheinstallation
oftheDCsupplyasoverdistancethevoltagecan
decreaseiftheincorrectsizedwireisbeingused.

4.5m or less 2.1mm2 (AWG14)

Using Solar Panels
Thepowerconsumption&efciencyofyourFreezer/
Refrigerator makes it ideal to be used in conjunction
withsolarpanelstoproviderechargingoftheDC
supply.Solarpanelswillprovidechargeintothe
batteryduringthedaylighthoursevenwhilethe
appliance is operating.
As the output from solar panels change depending
onthelevelofsunlight&intensity,yourFreezer/
Refrigerator cannot be connected directly to the
solarpanels.Theappliancemustbeconnected
to a suitable DC battery and then the solar panels
connected to the battery.
WerecommendtheuseofthePrimusrange
ofPortableSolarPanelKitsfrom40to120watts
forusewithyourFridge/Freezer.
Using Portable Generators
It is important that the correct generator is used
withyourFreezer/Refrigerator.Anincorrect
generator or output may result in reduced
performance or damage to your appliance
whichmayvoidyourapplianceswarranty.
If connecting directly to an AC generator ensure
thatonlyadigitalorinvertertypegeneratorisused.
Theseprovideamorereliable&constant240VAC
output and are specifically designed to power to
electronicandotherpowersensitiveappliances.
Companion recommends the use of Kipor Digital
InvertergeneratorstoprovideACpowertoyour
Freezer/Refrigeratorwheninremotelocations.
Most generators are fitted with a DC output -
DONOTconnectdirectlytotheDCoutputofthe
generator as this will result in damage to your
applianceandvoidanywarrantyclaim.
It is recommended that the appliance remains
connectedtotheDCpowersource.Thenusing
the DC output of the generator connect this to
the battery to recharge it. It is important that you
monitor the battery being charged, ensuring that
anoversupplyofchargeisnotbeingprovidedtoit
causing damage.
Battery cut-out
12/24V DC operation only
Thebuiltinbatterycut-outsystemisdesignedto
protectyour12voltbatterysourceoncetheavailable
voltagefallsto10.5VDC(12voltinput)and21.0VDC
(24voltinput).Onceyourbatteryisrechargedand
abovethesecut-outlevelstheFreezer/Refrigerator
will operate normally.
Lowvoltagesupplytotheappliancecanresultin
poor cooling performance and cause damage to the
supply battery.
AC Power Connection
TheFreezer/Refrigeratorissuppliedwithanapproved
3pinACPowerLeadandthismustnotbemodied
or lengthened.
When connecting to AC power ensure that the power
socketisswitched“off”.PlugtheACPowerLeadinto
the AC socket on the appliance and then plug the
otherendoftheACPowerLeadintotheACsupply
and switch on.

Using your Freezer/Refrigerator
– tips & suggestions
• Fresh&frozenfoodsshouldnotbestoredtogether.
Thecoldnessfromthefrozengoodscanbetransferred
to the other produce causing the goods to spoil. It is
best to put an insulating layer between these goods.
• Whentheapplianceisbeingsetat0orlower
temperatures,donotstoreglassbottlesorliquidssuch
as beer, milk, juices or soft drinks in the unit as these
mayfreezeandshatter.
• Itemssuchasfruit&vegetablesshouldbestored
closer to the top of the cabinet as this area is normally
slightlywarmer.Thiswillreducetheriskofspoilingand
ensures that damage is not caused by being crushed
byheavieritems.
• ToimprovetheefciencyofyourFreezer/Refrigerator
itisbettertohavethecabinetasfullaspossible
atalltimes.Afullcabinetwillprovidelowerpower
consumptionover24hoursthanahalfemptyone.
When the cabinet is full there is little air space between
the goods so the cold air is trapped, when there is lots
of air the coldness cannot be captured and held. On a
trip it is a good idea to replace products with bottles
ofwaterorsimilar.Thiswilllltheemptyspacesand
allow the coldness to remain within the cabinet.
• Makeyourselectionofwhatyouwishtoremovefrom
thecabinetbeforeyouopenthedoor.Thiswillreduce
thetimethatthecabinetisopenandthelevelofwarm
air that will enter the cabinet while the door is open.
• Whenlocatedintherearofacarortrailer,itis
recommended that the appliance be kept away from
direct sunlight to reduce the risk of increased heat.
Itshouldalsobeprovidedwithsuitableventilationto
guaranteeefcientpowerconsumption&performance.
Youmustrememberthatwhenavehicleisparkedin
the sun that on a day where the ambient temperature
is+30degrees,theinteriorofthevehiclecanreach
+55 degrees.
