SOUND ADVICE
The Consonance a120 linear Hybrid Integrated Amplifier is easy to connect and operate and requires no prior
technical knowledge. However, to get the most out of the amplifier's superior sound and music quality, we
have provided a brief description of the connections and use of the amplifier in order to provide a total music
experience.
We recommend keeping this user guide for future reference.
GENERAL USE
The amplifier is switched on with the button ①in the left of the front panel. A flashing " -- -- --" blue light in the
display ②indicates that power is switched on. By pushing the same button one more time the power is
switched off.
When power is switched on, the blue indicator located behind the left side of display will light and keep flashing
slightly. After about 30 seconds, the blue indicator will stop flashing and indicate normal tube filament
operation.
Note: It takes about 1 minute for the 6H30 tube to reach its normal operating point, and only slight
sonic improvement will be noticed after 5 minutes.
On the right of the front panel, the right knob ④is the channel selector with selections: INPUT1(“ IN1”),
INPUT2(“ IN2”), INPUT3(“ IN3”), BALANCED INPUT(“BAL”), and the left knob ③is the volume control.
Note: all the function of input selecting and volume control could be displayed on the screen, which
will go automatically dim 20 seconds later. When the mute function is switched on, the present volume
level will keep flashing on the screen to indicates mute mode is on.
Avoid connecting input cables or selecting inputs with the source selector switch if the volume setting of the
amplifier is not fully turned down and the speakers are connected. A transient signal might then arise, which
can damage the speakers. The amplifier will not be harmed, but to avoid overloading the speakers, the volume
should be turned fully down or the mute function should be switched on when connecting and disconnecting
cables.
Note: The volume will be turned fully down automatically when the amplifier is switched off and re-
switched on for the same reason.

3
After the amplifier is switched on, there is a delay of about 30 seconds for the music signal to reach the
speaker outputs. The amplifier is protected against short-circuiting of the speaker terminals , but we still
recommend turning off the amplifier when connecting and disconnecting signal and speaker cables.
The amplifier is designed to be used with a CD player, DVD player, cassette deck, tuner or similar sound
source.
From left to right the connectors are :
⑨INPUT1(“IN1” displayed on the screen) Phono/RCA Signal input right/left
⑨INPUT2(“IN2” displayed on the screen) Phono/RCA Signal input right/left
⑨INPUT3(“IN3” displayed on the screen) Phono/RCA Signal input right/left
⑧BALANCED INPUT(“BAL” displayed on the screen)Balanced/XLR Signal input right/left
⑦Pre output Phono/RCA right/left
⑥Speaker output right
⑥Speaker output left
⑤AC Power connection 230V / 115V / 100V AC dependent on country.
The preamplifier section of the a120 linear has two types of audio inputs: unbalanced audio signal with RCA
plugs (phono plugs) and true balanced audio signal with XLR plugs (pin 2 is positive phase, pin 3 is negative
phase and pin 1 is chassis earth), but only one tape of outputs: unbalanced audio signal with RCA plugs
(phono plugs).
CONSONANCE REMOTE CONTROL
The Consonance a120 linear can be controlled by an optional Consonance system remote control. Like other
Consonance products, the number of buttons is kept to a minimum.
The volume, channel select and mute functions of the a120linear can be operated by using the remote
control. The Consonance system remote control will also control other Consonance products like CD players,
avoiding the need of several different remote control devices.
The remote control uses four 1.5-volt LR03 AAA batteries .
USE & PLACEMENT
The Consonance a120linear should be placed on a flat, hard surface for proper cooling. The amplifier
performs best after being switched on for 1 hour for heating up. A certain space is required for air circulation

4
above and below the amplifier. The amplifier must never be placed on a carpet or similar surface that obstructs
air circulation through the component. Nor must it be covered while in use or placed on a narrow shelf or in
another confined space.
The amplifier will automatically switch itself off if overheated.
CLEANING
The top cover and knobs are made of brushed and anodized aluminum, while the front panel is made of solid,
powder coated aluminum. Fingerprints or stains on the front panel, knobs or top cover can be removed with a
cloth moistened with warm water.
