Beforeoperatingyourinductionsoupwell,dothefollowing:
• Remove all packing material and save for subsequent shipment or in case of
concealed shipping damage.
• Keepunitawayfromotherheatsourcesandallowatleast2”(51mm)betweenall
sidesofthehousingandanysurfaceorobstacle,and6”(152mm)betweenthe
bottomofthehousingandanysurfaceorobstacle.Ifeithertheairintakeorexhaust
outlet is blocked, the internal temperature will rise, causing an error code to occur.
Grounding Instructions:
Thesoupwellmustbeproperlygrounded.Intheeventofanelectricalshortcircuit,
groundingreducestheriskofelectricshockbyprovidingasafepathfortheelectric
current.Thesoupwellhasapowercordwitha3-pronggroundingplug,whichmust
beusedinacompatibleandproperlygroundedoutlet.Itistheowner’sresponsibility
toreplaceany2-prongwalloutletwithaproperlygrounded3-prongwallreceptacle.
Foryoursafety,nevercut,remove,ordisabletheelectrical(ground)connectionfrom
the plug. Never use an adapter plug or an extension cord with the soup well.
WARNING: Electric shock can result from an improperly grounded plug. Please
consult a qualied electrician if you have any questions about these grounding
instructions.
Before you begin:
PleasemakesurethatthispowercordisrmlyattachedtoyourCookTekunit
BEFORE plugging the unit into the power receptacle and before attempting operation.
Everyinstallationsitehasdifferentelectricalwiring.Becausemanydifferentlocal
codesexist,itistheOwnerandInstaller’sresponsibilitytocomplywiththosecodes.
CookTekisnotresponsibleforanyconsequentialdamagesasaresultoffailureto
complywithinstallationrequirements.
• Readallinstallationinstructionscarefullybeforestartinginstallation.
• Removesoupwellcarefullyfromcarton.
• Remove all loose packaging and accessories and save for subsequent shipment or
in case of concealed shipping damage.
• Itistheresponsibilityoftheinstallertocomplywithallfederal,stateandlocal
codes.
• Anyinstallationnotmatchingthespecicationsdiscussedinthismanual
automaticallyvoidstheproduct’swarranty.
• Insert unit into counter top cutout.
• Plug one end of the control cable into the unit and thread the cable through the
cutout for the control box.
• Plug the other end of the control cable into the control box and mount the control
box with four screws in the desired location.

ThesoupwellsystemusesSmarTemp™technologytoactivelycontrolthe
temperatureofthepan.Factorysettingallowstheusertochoosefromfour
temperaturesettingsinFahrenheitorCelsius.Thenumberoftemperaturesettings
canalsobeincreasedtofteentotalusingthe“ChangingtheTemperatureSettings”
option on page 5, and the temperature scale changed between Fahrenheit and
Celsiususingthe“ChangingtheTemperatureScale”optiononpage5.Theunitis
alsoequippedwitharethermalizationmodetoquicklywarmcoldorfrozensoup.
User Interface Buttons
Power Button–Usethisbuttontoturntheunitonandoff.AgreenLED
will indicate when the unit is on.
Lock Button – Use this button to prevent users from adjusting settings.
Pressingthisbuttonthreetimeswilllocktheunit.Whentheunitislocked,
theonlybuttonthatwillcontinuetoworkisthePowerbutton.Tounlock
theunit,presstheLockbuttonthreetimes.TheredLEDtotherightof
the button will indicate when the unit is locked. Pressing the lock button
oncewillalsodisplaythecurrenttimervalue(whenthetimerfeature
is enabled).
Up and Down Arrows –Thesebuttonsallowyoutoquicklyset
the temperature or choose rethermalization mode.
Alphanumeric Display–Displaysholdingtemperature
(Fahrenheit or Celsius) and error code information.
Control Panel
Thesoupwellisdesignedtobeusedwithan11qt(10.4L)bainmariesouptureen.
The unit should not be operated without using the water bath. An adapter ring
canbepurchasedseparatelytoallowtheunittoworkwitha7qt(6.6L)souptureen.
CookTek’ssoupwellisinconformancewithANSI/UL197andCSA22.2No.109
standardsandbearsthecommerciallyratedapprovals.CookTek’ssoupwellisin
conformance with European Economic Area standards and bears the CE marking
signifyingEuropeanConformity.

Plug the soup well into a grounded, single-phase receptacle. Models will run on
either100-125VACor200-240VACdrawingupto900W.Checktheratingplateon
theunittoverifycorrectvoltageandwattage.Voltagesbelowrangecanresultin
lessthanratedpowerandslowerheatingtimes.Thisapplianceisdesignedfor
rethermalizingandholdingsouponly,usingabainmarie.Thesouppanshould
notbeplaceddirectlyintothesoupwell.
Note: For proper operation, an independent, dedicated circuit should be used
for up to 3 units installed on a 15amp (120VAC) circuit, or 4 units installed on
a 20amp (120VAC) circuit.
Tooperateallmodels:
• PressthePowerbuttontoturntheuniton.ThegreenLEDnexttothepowerbutton
willilluminate.PressthePowerbuttonwhenyouarenishedtoturntheunitoff.
• Tolockthecontrols,presstheLockbuttonthreetimes.TheredLEDtotheright
of the lock button will illuminate to indicate the unit is locked. Locking the unit will
preventtemperaturesettingsfrombeingchanged.ThePowerbuttonwillcontinue
tofunctionwhiletheunitislocked.Tounlockthecontrols,pressthelockbutton
three more times. Unplugging the unit when powered on will also unlock the unit.
• PresstheUpandDownArrowstoselectthedesiredtemperature.
Thedefaultpresetchoicesare:
• FahrenheitSettings:170,180,190,200,HEAT
• CelsiusSettings:70,75,80,85,HEAT
Additionaltemperaturesettingsareavailablebychangingthetemperaturesettings
option.See“ChangingtheTemperatureSettings”onpage5.
Note: When the unit is not in use for 5 minutes, it will enter a power save mode
where the Power LED will ash. Press any button on the controls to exit the
power save and return to the previous settings.
Torethermalizesoup:
• Place an 11qt (10.4 L) soup tureen water pan into the soup well. Note: If using a
7qt (6.6 L) soup tureen, an adapter ring is needed to ensure proper heating and
prevent damage to the appliance. Adapter rings must be purchased as an
accessory through CookTek.
• Fill the water pan with the appropriate amount of water.
• Placethesouptureenintothewaterbathandllwithsoup.
• UsetheUpandDownarrowstochangethetemperaturesettingtoHEAT.Note:
rethermalization is only possible when the display shows “HEAT.” Other
temperaturemodeswillonlyholdsouptemperature.
• Thedisplaywillashtheword“HEAT”whenitisinheatingmodeandapanis
detectedontheunit.Ifthedisplaydoesnotash,checkthatthepanisproperly
seated in the unit.
• Maintain the proper amount of water while the unit is operating in heating mode. In
theeventthatallwaterhasevaporated,theunitisequippedwithautomaticboildry
detection.Ifadrypanisdetected,theunitwillstopheatingandash“h2O”onthe
display.Theunitwillnotresumeheatinguntilasufcientamountofwaterhasbeen
added and the insert pan has cooled to a safe temperature.
• Whenthesouphasreachedtemperature,usetheUpandDownarrowstochange
the soup well setting to the desired holding temperature.
GENERAL OPERATION

• Place an induction compatible pan in the unit.
• Theletter“F”or“C”willashinthedisplaywindowandthe
HeatingLEDwillturnon.
• Whenthepanhasreachedtheselectedtemperature,the
“F”or“C”willstopashingandremainsolid.TheHeatingLED
willturnoffandtheAtTempLEDwillturnon.
• Thesettemperaturecanbeadjustedatanytimewhilethe
panisontheunitbypressingtheUpandDownArrows.
• Whenapanisremovedfromtheunit,theHeatingandAtTempLEDswillturnoff
andthe“F”or“C”willturnonsolidinthedisplay.Theunitisnotheatingorholding
thesettemperaturewhenbothLEDsareoff.
• Whennishedusingtheunit,pressthePowerbuttontoturntheunitoff.

remember the last temperature setting the next time it is powered on.
• Startingwiththeunitoff,holddowntheUpArrowwhile
pressing the Power button.
• UsetheDownArrowtoselectthedesiredscale.
• Press the Power button to save the selection.
• Note:Ifabuttonisnotpressedformorethanveminutes,theunitwillpoweroff,
keepingthepreviouslysettemperaturescale.
• Startingwiththeunitoff,holddowntheUpArrowandDown
Arrow while pressing the Power button.
• Usethearrowkeysuntilthetext“SETS”appearsinthedisplay.Press
the Lock button to select this feature.
• UsetheDownArrowkeytotogglebetweenthetwooptions“PART”
and“FULL.”PressthePowerbuttontosavetheselection.
• Selecting“PART”willmakeavailablethestandardsettemperatureslistedin
the“GeneralOperation”section.
• Selecting“FULL”willmakeagreaternumberofsettemperaturesavailable.

Fahrenheit: 130, 135, 140, 145, 150, 155, 160, 165, 170, 175, 180, 185, 190,
195, 200, 205, 210
Celsius: 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100
• Note:Ifabuttonisnotpressedformorethanveminutes,theunitwillpoweroff,
keepingthepreviouslyselectedtemperaturesettings.

• Toenable/disablethetimerfeature,see“SettingtheTimer”below.
• If the timer is enabled, the timer will start counting when a pan is
placedontheunitandtheHeatingorAtTempLEDwillturnon.
• Thetimerwillcountcontinuouslyup(inminutes)untilitisresetby
removing the pan.
• Thetimerisresetwhenthepanisremovedfromtheunitandthe
HeatingorAtTempLEDturnsoff.Thenexttimeapanisplacedon
the unit the timer will start again from the beginning.
• Toviewtheelapsedtimefromwhenthepanwasplacedontheunit,
presstheLockbuttononce.Thiswilldisplaythetime(inminutes)from
when the pan was placed on the unit for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the
normaltemperaturedisplaywillreturn.
Thesoupwellunitsareequippedwithatimerthatcanbesettoalerttheoperator
how long a pan has been on the unit for a period of time up to 240 minutes (4 hours).
Toenable/disablethetimer:
• Withtheunitoff,holdtheDownArrowwhilepressingthePowerButton.
• Releasethebuttonswhenthedisplaycomeson.UsetheUpand
DownArrowstotogglethroughtheoptionsuntil“tEn”isshownon
thedisplay.PresstheLockButtononcetoselecttheenableoption.
• PresstheUpandDownarrowstotogglebetweenthetwosetting
options“on”and“off.”Whenthedesiredoptionisdisplayed,press
theLockButtononcetoenterthisoption.Thedisplaywillash
three times to indicate the option has been saved.
• Press the Power Button to exit this mode.

• Neverheatemptycookwareoroperatetheunitwithoutthewaterbath.Doingso
maydamagetheunitorcookwareandoverheattheunit.Whenoverheatingoccurs,
anerrorcodewillashonthedisplayandtheunitwillshutitselfoffautomatically.
Whenthetemperaturereturnstonormal,theunitcanbeusedagain.
• ThecookwareintheappliancewillheatcontinuouslyaslongasthepowerisON.
Thecookwarewillbehotandcautionshouldbeexercisedwhenworkingonornear
the appliance.
• ThisproductmayonlybeservicedbyanauthorizedserviceagentorbyCookTek

• DONOTusethesoupwellnearafaucet,swimmingpool,sink,orotherareaswhere
water can be found. Never store the unit upside down or in a non-climate controlled

Clearance: Besuretoallowforaminimumclearanceof2”(51mm)betweenall
sidesofthehousingandanysurfaceorobstacle,and6”(152mm)betweenthe
bottomofthehousingandanysurfaceorobstacle.Thesoupwellrequires6-inch2
(3870 mm2)offreeairspacewithin8”(203mm)ofthetopofcabinet,andwithin24”
(610 mm) of each unit. Venting can be slots or holes as desired. If the ambient air
temperature is above 110oF (43.3oC),theunitmaynotfunctionproperly.
