Important Safety Precautions:
To achieve the utmost in enjoyment and performance from your CORD Phono Stage, and in order to
become familiar with its features, please read this manual carefully before operation This will ensure
you years of faithful, trouble free performance and listening pleasure
Important Notes:
•These safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference
•This appliance must not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids No objects filled with liquids
such as vases or drinking glasses shall be placed on or near this appliance
•Avoid installing the unit in locations described below:
oPlaces exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric
heaters
oOn top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat
oPlaces blocking ventilation or dusty places
oPlaces subject to constant vibration
oHumid or moist places
•No naked flame sources such as lit candles should be placed on or near the unit
•The operation of the turning controls and switches are to be used only as instructed herein
•Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure the power cord is properly installed,
and fully uncoiled
For safety reasons, do not remove any covers or screws or attempt to gain access to the inside of the
product for any reason Doing so will expose you to dangerous voltage, and will void your warranty
immediately Refer any servicing to qualified personnel There are no user serviceable parts
inside the unit
CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT REMOVE COVER (OR BACK) NO
USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE, REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL

The owner’s manual contains important operating and maintenance instructions,
for your safety, it is necessary to refer to the manual

Important Safety Information:
Some Do’s and Don’ts on the Safe Use of this Equipment
This equipment has been designed and manufactured to meet international safety standards but, like
any electrical equipment, care must be taken if you are to obtain the best results and safety is to be
assured
DO read the operating instructions before you attempt to use the equipment
DO ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains plug, extension leads and
inter-connections between the pieces of equipment) are properly made and in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions Switch off and disconnect the mains plug before making or changing any
connections
DO consult your dealer if you are ever in doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your
equipment
DON’T remove any fixed cover as this may expose dangerous voltages
DON’T overheat the unit which can cause damage and shorten the life of the equipment
DON’T allow electrical equipment to be exposed to dripping or splashing, or allow objects filled with
liquids, such as vases or drinking glasses, to be placed on the equipment at any time
DON’T place hot objects or naked flame sources such as lit candles or nightlights on, or close to
equipment High temperatures can melt plastic and lead to fires
DON’T listen to headphones at high volume, as such use can permanently damage your hearing
DON’T leave equipment switched on when it is unattended Switch off using the switch on the
equipment and make sure that your family knows how to do this Special arrangements may need to
be made for infirm or handicapped people
DON’T continue to operate the equipment if you are in any doubt about if it’s working normally or if
it’s damaged in any way Switch it off and withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer
ESD Remark: In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge just reset the product
(reconnection of power source may be required) to resume normal operation
NOTE: Do not open any covers and do not repair yourself Qualified personnel must carry out repair
work

Rear Panel Connections:
ABE DESCRIPTION
INPUT For connecting RCA Cables from your Turntable or Record Player
GND For connecting the Ground Wire from your Turntable
CARTRIDGE TYPE
MM: For use with Moving Magnet type Turntable Cartridges
MC: For use with Moving Coil type Turntable Cartridges
OUTPUT For connecting RCA Cables to a suitable Line Input on your Amplifier or
Receiver
DC12V 1A IN 12V DC 1A Power Input Socket

Making Connections:
SAFETY PRECAUTION: It is important that when making any connections or changing the
position of the Cartridge Type switch that the power to the unit is switched off, the mains power is
switched off and the unit is disconnected from the power supply
INPUT:
Using the stereo pair of RCA/Ground Phono cables that connect to your existing Turntable or Record
Player, connect the white RCA plug into the white (L) input socket Then connect the red RCA plug
into the red input socket (R)
GND:
Loosen the GND (Ground) terminal with your fingers and insert the fork connector on the end of
your ground wire of your RCA Phono cables from your turntable or record player under the screw
terminal Then tighten the GND terminal securely by hand Do not use tools as this may
overtighten and strip the threads
If your ground wire does not have a fork connector on the end, simply strip 5mm of insulation off the
end of the ground wire and twist the wire strands tightly You can then wrap the ground wire
around the GND terminal and tighten securely The proper connection of the ground wire is essential
to prevent any hum through your sound system
CARTRIDGE TYPE:
Refer to the instructions or specifications that came with your turntable or record player to
determine which cartridge type your player uses
If your turntable uses a Moving Magnet type cartridge, set the CARTRIGDE TYPE switch to ‘MM’
If your turntable uses a Moving Coil type cartridge, set the CARTRIGDE TYPE switch to ‘MC’
OUTPUT:
Using a stereo pair of high quality standard RCA audio cables, connect the white RCA plug into the
white (L) output socket Then connect the red RCA plug into the red output socket (R)
Then connect the other end of your RCA cables to a suitable Line Input (AUX/CD/TAPE) on your
existing Amplifier, Receiver, Mixer or other such music player
NEVER CONNECT THE PHONO STAGE’S RCA OUTPUT P UGS INTO AN AMP IFIER OR
RECEIVERS INPUT MARKED ‘PHONO’, ‘GRAM’, OR ‘RIAA’. DOING SO CAN OVER OAD YOUR
AMP IFIER, RECEIVER OR SPEAKERS AND CAUSE POSSIB E DAMAGE TO YOUR EQUIPMENT.

Making Connections continued:
POWER CONNECTION:
Connect the plug on the end of the Power Supply supplied with your CORD Phono Stage into the
DC12V 1A socket
Connect the power supply to your home mains power outlet and switch on
NEVER USE ANY POWER SUPP Y OTHER THAN THE ONE SPECIFIED & PROVIDED WITH THIS UNIT.
Troubleshooting:

CORD products are engineered and manufactured with pride to provide excellent performance, value and years of trouble free operation In
the unlikely event that you should have trouble with your CORD product we are pleased to offer this warranty It is important that you read the
contents of this warranty and be familiar with your rights and obligations
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law You are entitled to a replacement or refund
for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage You are also entitled to have the goods
repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure
The benefits of this warranty are in addition to any rights and remedies imposed by Australian State and Federal legislation that cannot be
excluded, restricted or modified
SCOPE OF WARRANTY:
CORD warrants to the original retail purchaser that we will repair or replace, at our option, any CORD product which is found to be defective in
material and/or workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase During the warranty period, an authorized CORD Service Centre will
provide both parts and labour free of charge to correct any defect in materials or workmanship, subject to the warranty terms and conditions
WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This warranty is valid within Australia and New Zealand for CORD products purchased in Australia or New Zealand for domestic home
use only and where used in accordance with any instructions provided with or on the product

The warranty shall be void if the serial number is removed, defaced or altered
•
You must provide a copy of the original purchase receipt to obtain warranty repairs We reserve the right to quote for and or charge
for repairs outside the warranty period or where the date of original purchase cannot be verified

The cost of delivery and insurance in transit to the service center It is your sole responsibility to arrange for your product to be
forwarded to your nearest CORD Service Centre for repair or replacement

Time taken to investigate your warranty claim where the product is found to be in good working order This includes where you
have not followed instructions contained in any manuals provided with the product or where the fault is caused by use with
incompatible equipment and or software

Warranty repairs where the product has been tampered with, altered, modified or repaired by an unauthorized person
•
Misuse, mishandling or abuse to the product including cosmetic imperfections, scratches, Acts of God and or electrical surge
•
Normal wear & tear and maintenance, cleaning, periodic check-ups or charges for installation, removal or reinstallation of the
product
•
Audio or video data stored on your iPod and or other devices used with or connected to your CORD product or media of any type
WHEN YOU NEED SERVICE
•
If you should require warranty service please visit our web site for details of any warranty updates and the location of your nearest
authorized Service Centre
•
Securely pack and send the product to the authorized Service Centre DO NOT return any accessories with your product unless the
accessory is malfunctioning
•
We strongly suggest transit insurance as we cannot be responsible for products lost and or damaged when in transit to the Service
Centre
•
Include a clear description of the problem you are experiencing along with your name, address and daytime contact details
This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights which vary from location to location This limited warranty does not
intend to affect these rights in any way whatsoever
