When used properly your appliance is completely safe but as with any electrical product there are certain
precautions that must be observed.
PLEASE READ THE BELOW PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR APPLIANCE.
Tomaintaintheefficiency and safety of thisappliance,werecommendyou do the following:
-onlycalltheServiceCentresauthorisedbythemanufacturer.
- always use genuine spare parts.
SAFETY ADVICE
IMPORTANT-Aswithany cooking appliance there could be some fire risk attached to the heatingofoil,particularlyfor
deepfatfrying. Cookingutensilscontaining oil must not be left unattended (eg. to answer the telephone) onorinclose
proximityto thecookingareas.
IN THE EVENT OF A CHIP PAN OR ANY OTHER PAN FIRE:
1.Turnofftheburners.
2.Coverthepanwithafireblanketordampcloth,thiswillsmother the flames and extinguish the fire.
3.Leavethe pan to coolforat least 60 minutesbeforemoving it. Injuries are oftencausedby picking up ahotpan and
rushingoutsidewithit.
NEVERUSE A FIRE EXTINGUISHERTOPUT OUT A PANFIREas the forceofthe extinguisher is likelytotip the pan
over.Neveruse water to extinguishoilorfatfires.

How To Use Your Hob
Know your Hob
Theposition ofthecorrespondinggas burnerisindicatedon
eachcontrol knob.
The burners differ in size and power. Choose the most
appropriateoneforthediameterofthecookwarebeingused.
Theburner can be regulatedwiththe corresonding control
knobby using one ofthefollowing settings:
• Off
High
Low
Tolight a burner, simply press the correspondingknob all
thewayin and then turnitinthecounter-clockwisedirection
tothe "High" setting, keeping it pressed inuntil the burner
lights.
This model is fitted with a safety device (F), the knob
mustbepressed in for about 6 seconds untilthedevicethat
keepstheflame lighted warms up.
Caution: Ifthe burner accidently goesout,turn off the gas
withthecontrol knob and trytolight it again afterwaitingat
least1 minute.
Toturn offaburner, turntheknobintheclockwisedirection
untilitstops (it should beonthe “•” setting).

PracticalAdvise on Using the Burners
For best performance, follow these general guidelines:
• Use the appropriate cookware for each burner (see
table) in order to prevent the flame from reaching the
sides of the pot or pan;
• Alwasy use cookware with a flat bottom and keep the
lidon;
• When the contents come to a boil, turn the knob to
"Low".

Care and Cleaning
Before cleaning or performing maintenance on your hob,
disconnectitfromthepowersupply.
To extend the life of the hob, it should be cleaned
carefullyand thoroughlyona frequentbasis,keeping in
mindthe following:
• Theenamelled parts must bewashed with warm water
withoutusing abrasivepowdersorcorrosivesubstances
whichcouldruinthem.
• Theremovable parts of the burners should bewashed
frequently with warm water and soap, making sure to
removecaked-onsubstances.
• Onhobs withautomaticignition,the endoftheelectronic
ignitiondevice must becleanedcarefullyandfrequently,
makingsurethatthe gas holes are notclogged.
• Stainless steel can be stained if it remains in contact
withhighly calcareous water or aggressive detergents
(containingphosphorous)foranextendedperiodoftime.
Itisrecommended that these parts be rinsed thoroughly
with water and then dried well. It is also a good idea to
clean up any spills.
Greasing the Gas Valves
Over time, the gas valves may stick or become difficult to
turn. If this is the case, the must be cleaned on the inside
andtheregreased.
N.B.:This proceduremust beperformedby atechnician
authorizedby the manufacturer.
Troubleshooting
If the burner does not remain on when set to "Low".
Check to make sure that:
• Thegasholesare not clogged.
• Thereareno draughts near thecookingsurface.
• Theminimumhasbeenadjustedcorrectly(seeInstallation
section,"MinimumRegulation").
If the cookware is not stable.
Check to make sure that:
• Thebottomofthecookwareisperfectlyflat.
• Thecookware is centeredcorrectlyontheburner .
• Thesupportgridshave not been inverted.
If, despite all of these checks, the hob does not function
properly and problem persists, call Hotpoint Service (see
KEYCONTACTS,backpage), informing them of:
-Thetypeof problem.
- The abbreviation used to identify the model (Mod. ...) as
indicatedonthewarranty.
IMPORTANT:
Never call upon technicians not authorized by the
manufacturer,andrefusetoacceptsparepartsthatarenot
original.
Before calling service for assistance, check through the
followinglist,theremaybenothingwrong.
Firstof all, checktoseethatthere are nointerruptionsinthe
gasand electrical supplies,and, in particular,that the gas
valvesfor the mainsare open.
If the burner does not light or the flame is not uniform
aroundtheburner.
Check to make sure that:
• Thegasholeson the burner are notclogged.
• All of the movable parts that make up the burner are
mountedcorrectly.
• Thereare no draughts aroundthecookingsurface.
If the flame does not stay lit on a model with the
FlameFailuredevice.
Check to make sure that:
• You press the knob all the way in.
• You keep the knob pressed in long enough to activate
theflamefailuredevice.
• Thegasholesarenot cloggedintheareacorresponding
tothe flamefailuredevice.

Installation
Thefollowinginstructionsareintendedfortheinstallersothatthe
installationandmaintenanceproceduresmaybefollowedinthe
most professional and expert manner possible. Important:
Disconnecttheappliancefromtheelectricalsupplybefore
performinganymaintenanceorrepair.
PositioningtheHob
Important: this unit may be installed and used only in
permanently ventilated rooms in accordance with British
Standard Codes Of Practice:B.S. 6172 / B.S. 5440, Par.2 and
B.S.6891CurrentEditions.Thefollowingrequirementsmustbe
observed:
a) Theroommustbefittedwithaventilationsystemwhichvents
smokeandgasesfromcombustiontotheoutside.Thismust
be done by means of a hood or electric ventilator that turns
onautomaticallyeachtimethehobisoperated.

(exclusively forcookingappliances)
b) Theroommusthaveanairflowtoallowforpropercombustion.
Thismustbe2m3³/hperkWofinstalledpower.Theairflowcan
becreatedusinganenclosedventwithaninnercrosssection
ofatleast100cm²whichmustnotbeabletobeblocked.Ithe
appliancedoesnothaveaflamefailuredevice,theventmust
haveaninternalcrosssectionof200cm3³ (Fig. A). Alternatively
theroominwhichthehobissituatedcanbeventedindirectly
throughventilation ducts as specifiedabove, as long asthe
adjacentroomisnotasharedarea,abedroomorpresentany
risk of fire (Fig. B).

c) Intensiveandprolongeduseoftheappliancemaynecessitate
supplementalventilation,e.g.openingawindoworincreasing
thepoweroftheairintakesystem(ifpresent).
d) Liquidifiedpetroleumgasesareheavierthanairand,asaresult,
settledownwards. Rooms in which LPG tanks areinstalled
mustbefittedwithventilationopeningstotheoutsideinorderto
allowthegastoescapeintheeventofaleak.Therefore,LPG
tanks,whetheremptyorpartiallyfull,mustnotbeinstalledor
storedinroomsorspacesbelowgroundlevel(cellars,ect.).Itis
alsoagoodideatokeeponlythetankcurrentlybeingusedin
theroom,makingsurethatitisnotnearsourcesofheat(ovens,
fireplaces,stoves,etc.)thatcouldraisetheinternaltemperature
ofthetankabove50°C.
InstallationofBuilt-inHobs
Thegas hob is equippedwithtype X degree protectionagainst
overheating. Therefore, the appliance can be installed next to
cabinets,providedtheheightofthecabinetdoesnotexceedthatof
thehob.Forproperinstallationofthehob,thefollowingguidlines
mustbefollowed:
a) Ifthecabinet(s)locatednexttothehobarehigherthanthehob
itself,thecabinet(s)mustbeinstalledatleast110mmfromthe
hobedge.
b) Hoodsmustbeinstalledinaccordancewiththe instructions
containedintheinstallationmanualforthehoodsthemselves,
andnolessthan650mmfromthehob.
c) In the case of the 600 mm cooker hoods, besides following
the recommendations in point b), the cabinets should be
positioned next to the hood at a height of at least 540 mm
from the top since this will make it possible to install the lid
andmoveitcorrectly.Thecabinetshouldalwaysbeinstalled
at a height from the top which allows easy use of pots and
pans on the cooker.
d) Shouldthehobbeinstalleddirectlyunderacupboard,thelatter
shouldbeatleast700mm(millimetres)fromthetop,asshown
inFigureC.

the hob securely, it is recommended that all the clamps be
used.

GasConnectionfortheHob
Thehobshouldbeconnectedtothegassupplybyanauthorized
installer.During installation of this product it isessential to fit an
approvedgastaptoisolatethesupplyfromtheapplianceforthe
convenienceofanysubsequentremovalorservicing.Connection
of the appliance to the gas mains or liquid gas tanks must be
carriedoutaccordingtothesafetystandardscurrentlyinforce,and
onlyafteritisascertainedthatitissuitableforthetypeofgastobe
used.Ifnot,followtheinstructionsindicatedinthesectionentitled,
“AdaptingtheHobforDifferentTypesofGas”.Ifthehobistobe
connectedtotankscontainingliquidgas,usepressureregulators
thatcomplywithcurrentsafetystandards.
Important:Toinsurethattheapplianceoperatessafety,thegas
is regulated correctly and your appliance lasts over time, make
sure that gas pressure levels comply with the indications given
inTable 1,“Nozzle and Burner Specifications”.
GasConnectiontoNon-flexible Pipe
(copper or steel)
Connectiontothegassourcemustbedoneinsuchawayasto
not create any stress points at any part of the appliance.
Theapplianceisfittedwithanadjustable,"L"shapedconnector
and a gasket for the attachment to the gas supply.Should this
connector have to be turned, the gasket must be replaced
(suppliedwiththeappliance).
Thegasfeedconnectortotheapplianceisathreaded,male 1/2"
connectorforroundgaspipe.
Gas Connection to Flexible Steel Pipe
Thegasfeedconnectortotheapplianceisathreaded,male1/2"
connectorforroundgaspipe.Onlyusepipes,tubesandgaskets
that comply with current safety codes. The maximum length of
theflexiblepipesmustnotexceed2000mm.Oncetheconnection
hasbeenmade,ensurethattheflexiblemetaltubedoesnottouch
anymovingpartsandisnotcrushed.
Check the Seal
Oncethehobhasbeeninstalled,makesurealltheconnections
areproperly sealed, usingasoapy water solution.Never use a
flame.

f) In the event the hob is not installed above a built-in oven, a
woodpanelmustbeinsertedasinsulation.Thispanelmustbe
placedatleast20mmfromthebottomofthehobitself.
Important:Wheninstallingthehobaboveabuilt-inoven,theoven
should be placed on two wooden strips; in the case of a joining
cabinetsurface,remembertoleaveaspaceofatleast45x560
mmattheback.

AdaptingtheHobforDifferentTypesofGas
To adapt the hob to a different type of gas than that for which it
wasdesigned,(seethestickerunderthehoboronthepackaging),
theburnernozzlesmustbechanged,asfollows:
•Remove the pan supports and slide the burners out of the
cooktop.
•Unscrew the nozzles using a 7mm socket wrench and
replacethemwiththoseforthenewtypeofgas.(Seetable1,
“BurnerandNozzleSpecifications”).
•Reassemblethepartsfollowingtheinstructionsinreverseorder.
•Oncompletingtheoperation,replacetheoldratinglabelwith
theoneshowingthenewtypeofgas;thestickerisavailable
fromHotpointService(seeKEYCONTACTS,backpage).
If the gas pressure is different than that prescribed, a pressure
regulatormustbeinstalledatthesource,incompliancewithnational
standardsgoverningtheuseof pipedgasregulators.
RegulationofAirSupplytotheBurner
Theburnersdonotneedaprimaryairregulator.
MinimumRegulation
•Turn the gas valve to minimum.
• Remove the knob and turn the regulator screw (positioned
either on the side of the top or inside the shaft) clockwise
untiltheflamebecomessmallbutregular.
N.B.:Inthecaseofliquidgas,theregulationscrewmustbefully
screwedin(clockwise).
•Makesurethat,whentheknobisturnedrapidlyhightolow,the
flamedoesnotgoout.
•Intheeventofamalfunctiononapplianceswiththesecurity
device(thermocouple)whenthegassupplyissetatminimum,
increasetheminimumsupplylevelsusingtheregulatorscrew.
Once the adjustment has been made, apply sealing wax, or a
suitablesubstitute,totheoldsealsontheby-pass.

Electrical Connection
Electricalconnection
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
The hob is designed to work with alternating current, the
supplyvoltage and frequencyindicatedon the ratingplate
(situated under the hob). Make sure that the local supply
voltagecorresponds to the voltage indicatedon the rating
plate.
Connecting the supply cable to the mains electricity
supply
For models supplied without a plug, fit a standard plug
suitable for the load indicated on the rating plate, onto a
cableand connect to asuitable socket.
Toconnectdirecttothemainssupply,adoublepoleswitch
with a contact separation of at least 3mm suitable for the
loadandcomplyingwithcurrent standards and regulations
mustbefittedbetweentheapplianceand the mains supply
outlet.
Thegreen-yellowearthwire must not be interruptedbythe
switch.
The supply cable must be positioned so that no part of it
reaches atemperatureof50°Caboveroomtemperature.
For installation above a built-under oven, the hob and the
ovenmust beconnectedseparatelytothe electricitysupply,
both for safetly reasons and for easy removal of the oven
forrepair,maintenanceetc.
DONOT use adapters astheycould cause overheating or
burning.
Beforeconnectingtothepower supply, make sure that:
• thelimiterswitchandthedomesticsystemcan
withstandthe load fromtheappliance (see rating
plate).
• thesupplysystemisefficientlyearthedaccordingto
standardsand laws in force.
• thesocketor double-pole switch are easilyaccessible
whenthe appliance is installed.
Important: the wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordancewiththe following code:
Green& Yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead may not
correspondwiththecolouredmarkingsidentifyingtheterminals
inyourplug, proceed as follows:
ConnecttheGreen&Yellowwireto terminal marked “E”or
orcolouredGreenorGreen&Yellow.
ConnecttheBrownwiretotheterminalmarked“L”orcoloured
Redor Brown.
ConnecttheBluewiretotheterminalmarked“N”orcoloured
Blackor Blue.
FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE ACCIDENT-
PREVENTIONREGULATIONS RELIEVES THE
MANUFACTUREROFALLLIABILITY.
Replacing the cable
Use a rubber cable of the type H05RR-F with a suitable
crosssection 3x0.75mm².
Theyellow-greenearthwiremustbe2-3cmlongerthan
theother wires.
