Crest Audio FCV220 User manual

Designed with the sound contractor in mind, Crest Audio’s
Models FCV220 and FCV440 are high-quality amplifiers intend-
ed for fixed installations using constant-voltage distributed lines.
These cost-effective two rack-space amplifiers make excellent
sonic quality and long-term reliability available to even the most
price- conscious installations.
The FCV Series amplifiers use the same high-grade components
employed in the Crest Audio Professional Series amplifiers and
are fan-cooled. An internal mid-chassis fan draws cooling air
from the front of the amplifier and exhausts it out the sides. High
quality, fully-isolated output transformers are used, providing
maximum amplifier protection and freedom from output-related
ground loops. Either transformer can be bypassed for driving a
speaker directly.
The FCV Series amplifiers are fully compatible in design with
other Crest Audio amplifiers, Octal Socket Accessories and the
NexSys®computer-controlled audio system.
The FCV chassis is made of heavy 12-gauge steel for rigidity.
Attenuator controls, barrier strip outputs, Octal Sockets, and
actively balanced inputs are located on the rear panel.
Front panel features include Clip and Status LED indicators and
a combined circuit breaker/AC power switch.
As always, Crest Audio performance and reliability come stan-
dard.

POWER AMPLIFIERS
The power amplifier shall have two channels. Each shall deliver a minimum of 110
watts into 4 Ohms or into a constant voltage line per channel, both channels driven,
60Hz - 18kHz. The amplifier shall be fan-cooled. It shall have circuitry to protect
itself and the speaker load from output short circuits, DC voltage on outputs, and
thermal overload. Output relays shall protect the speakers from any type of amp
failure. The amplifier shall have a voltage gain of 27x, with an input sensitivity of
0.775 volt for rated power or into a constant-voltage line. The hum and noise level shall be greater than
103.7dB, “A” weighted, below the rated output. SMPTE IND at the direct output shall be less than 0.015% at
rated power, 60Hz and 7kHz. The amplifier shall have a Class AB output stage, a transformer-coupled output
for high-impedance distributed lines, and a combination power switch/magnetic circuit breaker. The amplifier
shall also provide a means of bypassing the transformer for direct output to 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm speaker loads.
The transformer outputs shall have a frequency response equal to or greater than 60Hz-18kHz, +0, -3dB, at
rated power. The amplifier shall operate on 120, 230, or 240 volts, +5/-10%, 50 or 60Hz AC (configured at
factory). Maximum current draw shall not exceed 7.5 amperes at 120VAC or 4 amperes at 240VAC (limited
by front panel breaker for bench tests), both channels driven into a 4 ohm resistance. Front panel indicators
shall include a Clip/Limit LED and a bi-color Active/Protect LED for each channel. The rear panel shall have
an attenuator for each channel. The inputs shall be actively balanced, with rear-panel barrier strips. Octal
accessory sockets and a signal/ground lift jumper will be provided. The amplifier’s packaging shall allow for
standard rack mounting without requiring space between similar units. Dimensions shall be 3.5" (8.89cm)
high, 19" (48.26cm) wide, and 14" (35.56cm) deep. The FCV220 shall have a net weight of 42.0 lbs.
(19.06kg). The amplifier shall be designated the Crest Audio Model FCV220.
