Safety Cautions
Carefully read all the instructions before using the appliance and keep in a safe place
for future reference.
Always follow these safety cautions when using this appliance to avoid personal injury
or damage to the appliance. This appliance should be used only as described within this
instruction book.
nAlways inspect the appliance before use for noticeable signs of damage. Do not use if
damaged, or if the appliance has been dropped. In the event of damage, remove the
plug from the mains then contact the Cuisinart Customer Care Line (see “UK After
Sales Service” section).
nDo not use this appliance if the lead is damaged. In the event of a damaged lead
discontinue use immediately. Contact the Cuisinart Customer Care Line (see “UK After
Sales Service”).
nUnplug from the mains when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
cleaning the appliance. To disconnect, press the ‘On/Off’ button, and then remove the
plug from the mains. Never pull the plug out of the mains socket by its lead.
nThis appliance should not be used by adults or children whose lack of experience,
product knowledge or disability might cause a hazard, unless they have been correctly
instructed and are adequately supervised.
nChildren should always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with this product.
nNot for use by children. Keep out of reach of children during and after use.
nDo not use any accessory or attachments with this appliance other than those
recommended by Cuisinart.
nNo repair should be carried out by the user. In case of fault, contact the Cuisinart
Helpline, (See “UK After Sales Service“ section).
nDo not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
nTo protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse cord, plug or
unit in water or other liquids.
nDo not leave the lead hanging over the edge of a kitchen table or worktop. Avoid
contact between the lead and hot surfaces.

nDo not exceed the maximum capacity of this appliance.

nThis appliance should be used only for grinding coffee beans and brewing coffee as
described within the Instructions for Use. Please retain these instructions for further
use.
nAlways ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the mains socket.
nThis appliance complies with the requirements of Directives 2004/108/ EC
(Electromagnetic Compatibility) and 2006/95/EC (Electrical Safety of Domestic
Appliances).
CAUTION: Surfaces marked with this symbol are liable to get hot. Please do not
touch during use.
WARNING: Polythene bags over the product or packaging may be dangerous. To
avoid danger of suffocation, keep away from babies and children. These bags are
not toys.
The symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product may not
be treated as household waste. Instead it should be handed over to an appropriate
collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential negative
consequences for the environment and human health, which could otherwise be caused
by inappropriate waste handling of this product. For more detailed information about the
recycling of this product, please contact your local council office or your household waste
disposal service.
Safety During Use
nDo not touch hot surfaces.
nAlways fill water reservoir first, then plug into a suitable power outlet. To disconnect
push the ‘ON/OFF’ button to switch off the appliance, then remove the plug from the
wall outlet.
nNever open the filter basket holder during the brew cycle; extremely hot water/coffee
can spill and cause injury.
nLiquids will reach up to approximately 90°C. Be careful when pouring beverages.
nAvoid contact with moving parts.
nCheck grinder basket before use for presence of foreign objects.
nUse the coffee grinder to grind roasted coffee beans only. Do not use to grind other
substances, e.g nuts, spices or un-roasted beans as this may damage the blades or
cause injury.

CAUTION: Keep hands and other utensils away from grinder blades. Carefully remove
grinder when cleaning.
nDo not place cloth or otherwise restrict airflow beneath coffeemaker.
nUse only the Cuisinart Gold Tone® Commercial Style Filter with this unit. These are
available to purchase at www.cuisinart.co.uk or by contacting the Cuisinart Helpline
(see “UK After Sales Service” section). Other Gold Tone® permanent filters may cause
the unit to overflow.
WARNING: Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.
UK Wiring Instructions
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
BLUE = NEUTRAL
BROWN = LIVE
YELLOW &GREEN = EARTH
As the colours of the wire in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the
colour marking identifying the terminals on your plug, proceed as follows:
nThe wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter N
nThe wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter L
nThe wire which is coloured YELLOW &GREEN must be connected to the terminal which
is marked with the letter E or the symbol.
This appliance is supplied fitted with a BS1363 mains plug and a BS1362 13A fuse.
If this plug is removed from the appliance please ensure it is disposed of safely as a
disconnected plug is dangerous if reconnected to the mains. If any other type of plug is
used, a 13A fuse must be fitted.

B. Before first use
Inserting the Water Filter
nYour coffee machine comes with a charcoal water filter that eliminates chlorine, bad tastes
and odours from tap water.
nRemove the filter from the polybag and soak it, fully immersed, in cold tap water for 15
minutes.
nOpen the lid on the coffee maker by pressing the indentation marked ‘PUSH’
nLift the water filter holder out of the water reservoir.
nPress down on the filter compartment and pull towards you to open.
nPlace filter into the holder and snap it closed. Be careful – improper placement can tear the
filter skin.
nFlush filter by running cold tap water through holes in bottom of compartment for 10 seconds.
nAllow the filter to drain completely.
nSlide the water filter holder back into the channel in the water reservoir, pushing it down to
the base of the unit.
NOTE: We recommend changing the water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses, and more often
if you have hard water. Replacement filters can be purchased in stores, or by calling Cuisinart UK
After Sales Service or at www.cuisinart.co.uk
Flushing out the Machine
nWe recommend flushing out the system before brewing your first cup of coffee. Simply fill a
cup with water (max 450ml) and pour into the reservoir. Place the same cup on the drip tray,
press the Grind Off button and power on the unit. Do not add coffee.

C. Brewing Coffee Using Beans
nOpen the lid by pressing the indentation marked ‘PUSH’. Add water by filling your chosen cup
with water and pouring this water into the reservoir. This ensures that you have exactly the
right amount of water to make your cup of coffee.
N.B All of the water that you put into the reservoir will be used to produce your cup of coffee.
Do not fill the water reservoir with more than 450ml of water. You will notice slightly less water
comes out into the cup as a small amount is absorbed by the coffee grinds. This allows enough
room in the cup to add milk. Should you drink your coffee black, you can fill your cup with water
then add an extra splash more into the water reservoir.
nRemove grinder cover by simply holding the transparent plastic lid and pulling it towards you.
Add beans using the scoop provided.
CUP COFFEE
Small Cup 1-2 scoops
Medium Mug/Cup 3-4 scoops
Large Mug/Cup 5-6 scoops
NOTE: Adjust the amount of beans to suit your taste as you get to know your coffee maker and
personal preferences. The more beans you add, the stronger your coffee will be. The machine will
