RAX rear view mirror reverse camera re-route fix.
This RAX-modification enables you to re-route the video signal for the back-up camera so that you
can view it both in the rear-view mirror, as well as on the 8. ” monitor, instead of in the mirror only
which is the stock configuration.
This instruction applies to RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks, model year 2013 and up with mirrorcam and
cargocam setup. This modification is merely an option for customers who wish to re-route their back-
up camera to have it displayed on the 8. ” monitor as well as in the rear-view mirror. If you are
satisfied with having your rear-view camera displayed in the mirror only which is the stock
configuration for these vehicles, you can stop reading here.
All features of our RAX jailbreak products will be available for your vehicle, regardless if you choose
to do this modification or not. This is no more than a convenience tweak. If you would like to do this
modification, please contact us so we can send you the correct software for your navigation system.
If this is something you would like to do later on down the road, please contact us whenever you
wish so we can supply you with new files to make this re-route tweak available to you.
First of all, pop open the side panel which is situated on the edge of the dashboard on the passenger
side. This will reveal a cable harness which contains the video signal that we wish to re-route.

The wires we need to splice and re-route are color coded as follows:
Dark green/brown is camera signal.
Dark green/orange is camera ground.
Do not cut these wires! Simply strip a small portion of the wires, make your connection and then seal
everything up with electrical tape to avoid short circuits.
When you make these connections, please make absolutely certain to use soldering! Do not use
scotchlok connectors, blade connectors or anything other than soldering. Scotchlok connectors and
blade connectors do not make a reliable connection, and one day or another you will be greeted with
no signal because the connection is lost.
Connect the cable with a yellow RCA-connector on one end and no connector on the other end to
the harness in the picture by soldering, and connect the connector on the other end to your RAX-
jailbreak cable harness which is situated behind your 8. ” monitor. Please use the input marked
”CCA” on the jailbreak harness for the re-route.

You can use any RCA-style cable to do the job. If it fits the input on the harness, you’re golden. You
can buy one for cheap at Radio Shack, or simply re-use an old one you don’t need from a Sony
Playstation, DVD-player or whatever. The cables we use are 6’ / 180cm and this is more or less a
standard length for cables of this type. The connector’s pin is camera signal, and the connector’s
metal shield is camera ground.
