• De’Longhiwill not acceptanyliability if the applianceis
subject to improper use, or failure to comply with these
instructions
• Donotplaceanyutensilsintothekettle.Theuseofaccesso-
ryattachmentsnotrecommendedbytheappliancemanu-
facturermayresultinre,electricshockorpersonalinjury.
• Neverusethekettlewithoutitslidandlter.
• Position the kettle properly on the power base before
switchingon.
• Usethekettleonlywiththepowerbasesupplied(andvice
versa).
• Donotoperatethiskettleifthemainsleadorplugisdama-
ged,ifthekettlemalfunctions,orhasbeendamagedinany
manner.Itmustbereturnedtoanauthorisedserviceagent
forrepairorreplacementinordertoavoidhazard.
• Thepowercablemustnotbereplacedbytheuserasthis
requirestheuseofspecialtools.Ifthesupplycordisda-
maged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,itsservice
agentorsimilarlyqualiedpersonsinordertoavoidaha-
zard.
• Ifthekettleisoverlled,boilingwatermayoverow.

Using for the rst time
• Beforeuse,checkthattheappliancehasnotbeendamaged
duringtransport.
• Removeallpackagingfromthekettleandpowerbase.
• Removeanylabelsfromtheoutersurfacesexceptthera-
tinglabel.
• Removethelterandrinseunderatapwhilebrushingwith
asoftbrush(g.3)(refertopage5“Removingthescale
lter”).

• Fillthekettletothemaxlevelandboil.
• Theboiledwatershouldbediscardedandthekettlerinsed
outwithcoldwater.Thisprocedureshouldbecarriedout
twicetoremoveanymanufacturingdust,etc.
• Afterthekettlehasbeenrinsedout,retthelter(g.4).
Using the kettle
With thespecially desig-
nedpowerbaseandcen-
tral connector, you can
nowsetthekettleonthe
base at any angle, from
anyposition.
• Release the cord
from the storage
baseandadjustthe
length by winding
aroundthebasetogivethecorrectcordlengthtoreachthe
plugsockettobeused(g.1).
• Do not leave loose cord hanging over the edge of work
surfaces.
Filling
• Removethekettlefromthebaseunitbeforelling.
• Removethelidandllthekettletothedesiredlevel.
Do not ll with less than 0.3 litre of water (minlevel)
topreventthekettlerunningdrywhileinuse;misuseof
thiskindwillshortenthelifeoftheelement.
Do not ll with more than 1.7 litres of water (max.
level).
If the kettle is overlled, there is a risk that boiling
water may overow and cause burns.
• Toclosethelid,pushitontothekettlebodyuntilitclicks
rmlyintoplace.
• Thewaterlevelindicatorenablesyoutoseethequantityof
waterinthekettle.
Switching on
• Plugthepowerbaseintothemainssocket.
• Placethekettleonthepowerbase.
• PresstheON/OFFswitchdowntoswitchthekettleon.
• Thepower-onindicatorlightswillilluminate.
• Thekettlewillautomaticallyswitchooncethewateris
boiled(theON/OFFswitchwillclickupwardsandthelights
willswitcho).
• Toturnthekettleobeforethewaterboils,youmaymove
theON/OFFswitchuptotheOFFposition,orsimplyliftthe
kettlefromitsbase-itwillswitchoandtheswitchwill
returntotheOFFpositionautomatically.
Pouring
• Removethekettlefromthepowerbaseandcarefullypour
outthewater.Donottiltthekettlesuddenlyorpourwater
out at too sharp an angle.
• Whenyouliftthekettlefromthebase,youmayseemoistu-
reonthetopsurfaceofthebase.Condensationonthebase
isperfectlynormal,andshouldnotbeacauseforalarm.
Safety devices
1) Automatic ON/OFF switch
YourkettleisttedwithanON/OFFswitchwhichautoma-
ticallyswitchesooncethewaterhasboiled.Ifthekettle
hasjustboiled,waitaminuteorsobeforere-boilingthe
kettle.DonotattempttoholdtheON/OFFswitchinthe“on”
positionoradjusttheswitchmechanism.
2) Safety cut-out
IfthekettleisswitchedONwithtoolittleornowater,itis
protectedagainstdamagebyasafetycut-outdevicewhich
willswitchothepower.
If this cut-out operates, disconnect the kettle from the
mainssupplyandleave to cool downbeforerellingwith
coldwater(otherwisetheelementcouldbedamaged).It
willresetautomaticallywhencooleddown.
3) Ifthekettleisliftedfromthebasewhileoperating(ON),it
willautomaticallyswitcho.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning the kettle
• Allowthekettletocooldownfullyanddisconnecttheap-
pliancefromthemainsbeforecleaning.
• Donotimmersethekettleorbaseinwater.
• Useasoftdampenedclothtowipetheoutsideofthekettle
anddrywithasoft,drycloth.
• DONOTuseharshscouringagents.
• Ensurethatallelectricalconnectorsandsocketsarekept
dry.
Scale
Scaleismainlycalciumcarbonate(chalk),aharmless,naturally
occurringmineral found in mostwatersupplies.“Hard” water
containsmoreofthismineralthan“soft”water.
Whenthe wateris heated, theminerals inthe water solidify,
makingthewaterappearcloudy.Thesemineralsformathinlm
onthewalls,elementandonthesurfaceofthewater.Thewater

maylooklikeithaswhitecolouredpiecesofplasticoatingon
thesurface.Ontraditionalkettleelements,scaleformsahard
white“crust”whichadverselyaectsperformanceandreduces
thelifeoftheelement.Assoonasyounoticealmformingon
thewater,orontheinteriorwallsofthekettle,simplyrinsethe
kettleandwipeitout.
Scale lter
Yourkettleisttedwithascaleltertopreventlooseparticles
ofscalebeingpouredintoyourbeverage.Thislterisbothre-
movableandwashable.Thefrequencywithwhichyouwillneed
tocleananyscaledepositsfromyourlterwilldependonthe
hardnessofwaterinyourareaandhowoftenyouusethekettle.
Youshouldremoveandcleanthewaterlterwhenyounotice
anydepositsbeingleftonthelterorifthepouringeciency
isimpaired.
Removing the scale lter
• Allow the kettle to
cooldownfully.
• Disconnect the ap-
pliance from the
mains electrical sup-
ply.
• Make sure that your
hands are clean and
freefromsoap,etcor
anythingwhichmight
taintthewater.
• Empty thekettle and
remove the lid. Re-
movethelterbypu-
shingdownthecatch
rmly, then lift up
frominsidethekettle
(g.2).
• Rinse under a tap
whilebrushingwitha
softbrush(g.3).
• Replace the lter sli-
ding it rmly down
from the inside (g.
4).
Descaling
Itisvitaltocleananddescalethekettleandlterregularlyinor-
dertomaintainitingoodworkingorder.Failuretodescaleyour
kettlemayinvalidateyourguarantee.
• Itisrecommendedtousespecic(storebought)products
fordescalingofkettles.Followthedescalinginstructions
carefully.
• Whenlimescalestartstobuildupontheheatingelement,
buyasuitabledescaleranddescaleyourkettle.Afterde-
scaling,boilwithfreshwaterseveraltimesanddiscard.Cle-
ananydescalerothekettle–itcandamagetheparts.
• Ifthelterrequiresdescaling,removethelterandplace
intothekettlewhilstdescaling.
• Ensurethattheelectricalconnectionsarecompletelydry
beforeusingthekettle.
