IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed. These instructions should be
saved for future reference:
• Read and familiarise yourself with all operating instructions
before using this grill.
• Before plugging your unit into the mains, visually check that
it is intact and has not suffered any transit damage.
• Check that the voltage indicated on the data plate
corresponds with that of the local network before connecting
the appliance to the mains power supply.
• Do not use this product with a programmer, timer, separate
remote-control system or any other such device.
• Do not immerse this appliance in water or any other liquids.
• Cooking appliances should be positioned in a stable
situation with the handles (if any) positioned to avoid
spillage of liquids.
• DO NOT touch hot surfaces. Accessible surfaces are
liable to get hot during use. Always use the handle.
• Oven gloves should be used whilst using the grill.
• Close supervision is required when using this appliance
near children.
• Never leave this appliance within reach of children.
• This appliance shall not be used by children from 0 to 8
years.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved.

• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less
than 8 years.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by
children.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to
the mains supply.
• Always use this appliance on a solid, level, non-flammable
surface.
• Do not use this appliance outdoors.
• It is imperative to unplug the power cord after the appliance
has been used, before it is cleaned and whilst being
repaired.
• Regular, periodic checks should be carried out on the
supply cord to ensure no damage is evident. Should there
be any signs of damage the appliance should not be used.
• If the supply cord is damaged it is to be replaced by a
qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
• Do not operate this appliance with a damaged plug or cord,
after a malfunction or after being dropped or damaged in
any way.
• Do not allow the mains cable to hang over sharp edges or
come in contact with hot surfaces.
• Allow the unit to cool before storage.
• Never place the appliance near to flammable material or
high pressure containers.
• This appliance is intended for household use only and
should not be used for industrial purposes.
• Do not use any accessories or attachments with this
appliance other than those supplied or recommended by
supplier.
• Do not use this appliance for anything other than its

intended use.
• Do not push objects into any openings as damage to the
appliance and/or electric shock may occur.
• Ensure appliance is situated in an open area, do not allow it
to come in contact with cupboards, curtains, wall coverings,
clothing or other flammable materials.
• Unplug after each use. Grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Do not cover this appliance.
• Never place this appliance on an electric, gas, or any other
type of hob.
• Ensure adequate ventilation whilst cooking foods that are
prone to giving off smoke.
WARNING do not attempt to move the grill whilst it is
hot.
WARNING this appliance must be earthed.
• Clean the plates with clean damp soft cloth – do not use
harsh abrasives or chemicals.

Before the first time you use your Grill
Please read these operating instructions thoroughly and keep them in
a safe place for future reference.
Remove all packing materials including in between the plates inside
the grill and dispose of responsibly.
Before using the grill for the first time, open the grill and wipe over
both plates using a soft, clean damp cloth.
For best results lightly coat the cooking plates with cooking oil.
Note: When the grill is heated for the first time it may emit slight
smoke and/or odour, this is normal and does not affect the safety of
the appliance.
Instructions for use
This appliance is intended for the preparation of food only. Any other
use may result in damage to the product or injury. This product is not
intended for commercial use. It is designed for household use only.
Grilling (Closed Position)
This method is particularly suitable for fast, high temperature grilling on
both sides, for example steak, burgers, toasted sandwiches or paninis.
1. Place the appliance on a level, heat-resistant solid non-slip surface.
2. Fit the oil collection container (8) into place.
3. Using the handle (1) lift the upper grill plate (2) completely and
lightly coat both the upper and lower grill plates (2 & 7) then put the
upper grill plate down again.
4. Connect the plug to a suitable socket outlet.
5. Set the thermostat control (6) to the desired level. The bottom
grilling plate (7) will begin to heat up, turn on the upper grilling plate
(2) by pressing the grilling plate switch (5) to position II. The
indicator light in the switch will illuminate and both grilling plates will
heat up. During heating to the selected temperature both indicator
lights (4 & 5) will illuminate. The indicator lights will turn off when the
selected temperature has been reached.
6. When the indicator lights go out, lift the upper grill plate using the
handle to the vertical position. It is also recommended to use oven
gloves or similar to avoid burns due to accidental contact with hot
surfaces.
7. Place the food to be grilled onto the bottom grilling plate.
8. Close the upper grilling plate. Regulate the cooking temperature if
needed using the thermostat control.
9. Monitor the cooking process occasionally. The cooking time
depends on the food to be grilled, the selected temperature and
your personal taste.

10. The food does not need to be turned as it is cooked by both the
upper and lower grilling plates.
11. To remove cooked food, open the upper grilling plate completely.
The grilling plates have a non-stick coating and metal utensils
should not be used to avoid scratching the surface. Silicon or
wooden utensils are recommended for removing food from the grill.
Grilling (Open Position)
Open grilling is ideal for shish kebabs, satays, vegetables which need
to be roasted more slowly and evenly.
1. Place the appliance on a level, heat-resistant solid non-slip surface.
2. Fit the oil collection container (8) into place.
3. Lightly cover the lower grill plate with a thin film of oil.
4. Connect the plug to a suitable socket outlet.
5. Set the thermostat control (6) to the desired level. The bottom
grilling plate (7) will begin to heat up, ensure the grilling plate switch
(5) is set to the I position and the upper grilling plate is switched off.
6. Place the food to be grilled onto the grilling plate (7) and monitor the
cooking process occasionally, using the thermostat control to adjust
the temperature as required
Cleaning your Grill
• Always unplug the grill from the mains power supply before cleaning.
• Allow the unit to cool before cleaning.
• Do not clean any part of your grill in a dishwasher.
• Do not submerge any part of the main body or mains cable in water or
any other liquids.
• Wipe excess oil from the plates with kitchen roll or similar.
• Wipe clean the outside of the main body and the plates with a soft
damp cloth.
• Never clean any part of the grill with harsh or abrasive cleaners.
Electrical Connections
This appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS 1363. If the
plug has to be removed, it should be cut off and carefully disposed of
immediately. To avoid a possible shock hazard, do not insert the
discarded plug into a mains socket.
Fitting a new plug
The mains lead must be connected as shown below. The wires are
coloured with the following code - Brown wire = Live (L), Blue wire =
Neutral (N), Green & Yellow = Earth (E).

• The Blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or
coloured Black.
• The Brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or
coloured Red.
• The Green & Yellow wire must be connected to the terminal marked E
or coloured Green.
• Check that there are no cut or stray strands of wire inside the plug.
• Use a 13 Amp BS 1362 fuse, only use BSI or ASTA approved fuses.
• If you are in any way unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to
a qualified electrician.
• After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug, the cover must
be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be used without a fuse
cover.
