1 About this Manual
This manual is intended to assist the user in refilling CSM sessions to the
Cerebral State Monitor (CSM) in a safe and efficient manner.

3 Session information
3.1 When is a session consumed?
One session is consumed 5 minutes after the first appearance of the
CSI index.
During continuous use one session is consumed every 24 hours.
3.2 Information on Sessions left
The number of sessions left can be checked during normal operation. Press
and hold down the Mute Key (5)
The Display will show:
SN xxxxxxxxxx
Sessions xxx
Sessions left xxx
SN: Monitor serial no.
Sessions: No. of sessions used.
Sessions left: No. of sessions left before a refill is needed.

3.3 Number of Sessions left reminder
When 10 or fewer sessions remain, the monitor displays the number of
remaining sessions.
When CSM is turned on the following appears in the display:

Press Mute 9
If the CSM is connected to a patient when turned on, the above information
appears for 2 seconds whereupon normal operation will continue.
When the “sessions left” reminder is shown, the CSM should be refilled.
This can be done either by a Session Code for this actual CSM or by a CSM
dispenser.
If the number of sessions reaches zero, the monitor continues normal
function for the ongoing session.
The CSM cannot start a new session until it has been refilled. This can be
done either by a Session Code for this actual CSM or by a CSM dispenser.

3.4 How to order a Session Code
Please have the following information ready before contacting your supplier.
Serial No. of the CSM
Number of sessions required
3.5 Receiving Session Code
When you receive a session Code for CSM it is accompanied by a package
of CSM Procedure Packs that equals the number of sessions ordered as
well as the following information:
Serial Number Indicates which device the Session Code
belongs to. A Session Code can only be
used for the device in question.
No. of Sessions States how many new sessions the
Session Code gives access to when
entered.
ID Sequential number used to identify the
Session Code.
Session Code States the Session Code to be entered in
the CSM.

4 Refill the CSM
4.1 Refilling the CSM by Entering Session Code
Refilling in this way adds a number of sessions to the actual sessions left.
Session Codes can only be used once
Turn on the CSM (without patient cable).
If less than 10 sessions are left: Press Mute Key (5).
If any CSM link serial No. appears in the display, select cancel.
Follow the 4 steps as shown below:

Use the up/down arrows of the Control Key (9) to select the No./ letter of the
code.
Use right/left arrows of the Control Key (9) to go to next/previous No./letter.
When the Session code has been entered, exit the screen and accept the
Session Code by pressing the Control Key (9) to the right.
The following screen will appear:

To regret/cancel the entered numbers exit the screen by pressing the
Control Key (9) to the left.
Should the Session Code not be entered correct, one of the following
messages will appear:
Check code One or more numbers/letters have been
wrongly entered. Check the entire Session
Code by comparing it with the Code received
from you supplier.
Wrong SN The Session Code is correct but it does not
belong to this CSM. Make sure the CSM is not
in a dispenser zone. If the CSM is in a
dispenser zone the system will try to send the
code to the dispenser and this will result in
this error message.
Wrong ID The Session Code is correct but it is an
already used Session Code.
Turn off the CSM.
4.2 Refilling the CSM from the CSM Dispenser
If a CSM Dispenser is available the CSM can be refilled from the CSM
Dispenser, see CSM Dispenser manual for instructions.
