Prior to initial use
Unpacking
1. Remove the iron from the box and remove the packaging.
2. Remove the cardboard cover from the soleplate.
3. Wipe the soleplate with a soft cloth.
Note
The cardboard cover protects the soleplate during transport. After removal, it
can be disposed of, if no longer required.
4. Check whether the iron is obviously undamaged.
Ironing for the first time
Production residues can remain adhered to the soleplate during manufacturing. Therefore,
we recommend that you first iron an old cotton towel, or similar.
Note
During initial use, a slight odour can occur, which, however, is harmless and
quickly dissipates. Ensure sufficient ventilation.
1. Fill the tank half way, see next section.
2. Iron an old cotton towel, or similar, see page 10.
3. Iron with steam, see page 11, until the tank is empty and no more steam is discharged.
Fill with water
HAZARD
- Remove the power cord from the socket before filling with water. If water has
run over the iron during filling, the appliance must first dry completely before
being connected to the power supply
- The discharged steam and the soleplate become very hot during use. Do not
touch it.
Before you can use the steam, steam shot and spray function of the iron, you must fill water
into the tank. You can fill with normal tap water or distilled water.
zWith particularly hard tap water, it is better to use distilled water. You can obtain
information about the water hardness from your water supplier.
zOnce you have filled the iron with distilled water, you should also use it in the future
and not use tap water again.

Tip
Prior to ironing, check whether there is sufficient water in the tank and add more prior
to ironing, if necessary. This way, you will not need to interrupt ironing to refill with
water. This is safer and saves time.
1. Remove the mains plug from the socket and allow the iron to cool off completely.
2. Slide the steam controller all the way to the right to the position marked 0.
3. Flip open the cover of the filling opening.
4. Fill the filling cup with water up to the 200 ml mark.
5. Hold the iron on a slight angle and allow the water to run carefully into the filling
opening of the tank.
6. After filling, check that the MAX marking on the tank has not been exceeded.
For this, place the iron on its stand base. Pour away any excess water.
Maximum filling capacity of the tank: 320 ml.
7. Flip the cover back.
Set temperature
CAUTION
Please note the information and symbols in the textiles to be ironed. The symbols
on the temperature control knob correspond to the standard commercial care
symbols.
The temperature is set using the temperature control knob. The points zon the control
knob have the following meaning:
Note

Tip
The iron heats up more quickly than it cools down. Therefore, first iron the laundry
that needs to be ironed at a low temperature.
Iron
Automatic switch-off
The iron has an automatic switch-off and switches off when…
z... it stands upright for 15 minutes or
z... it stands on the soleplate for 30 seconds without being moved.
If the automatic switch-off has switched the iron off, the operating lamp flashes.
If you briefly erect the iron, respectively tip it forward slightly and then erect it again, it
switches back on and you can iron as usual.
The automatic switch-off protects the iron from overheating and avoids
unnecessary power consumption. However, it does not provide protection
from burning, e.g. if you place the hot iron on the laundry.
Switching on and heating up
HAZARD
- Do not leave the iron unattended if it is heating up or still cooling down.
- The soleplate becomes very hot during use. Do not touch it and only touch the
iron on the handle. Never iron your clothing or other textiles on the body.
CAUTION
It takes several minutes until the iron responds after setting a low temperature.
Be careful when you are ironing sensitive textiles.
Before you can iron, the iron must heat up for a brief moment.
1. Completely unwind the power cable and place the iron on its stand base or the
appropriate stand surface on your ironing board.
2. Insert the mains plug into a socket with protective contacts. The operating lamp that is
integrated into the water tank flashes in red.
Turn the temperature control knob to the required temperature. Tip the iron forward
slightly and erect it again, in order to activate the iron's heating mode.
The orange control lamp indicates that the soleplate is heating up. As soon as it goes
out, the soleplate has reached the set temperature. You can now start to iron.
The iron automatically heats up again as soon as the set temperature falls. You can
recognise this by the fact that the control lamp illuminates in orange again

Please note:
zSet the quantity of steam using the steam controller. If you slide the steam controller
to 0or hold the iron vertically, no more steam is discharged.
zIf the iron drips, this can have two causes. You have ...
- ... set a temperature that is too low. Rectification: Set a higher temperature.
- ... set a quantity of steam that is too strong. Rectification: Set the steam controller
to a lower quantity of steam.

Smoothing textiles that are hanging up
HAZARD
The escaping steam is very hot. Do not touch it. Never point the steam shot at
people or animals.
With the vertical steam shot, you can smooth numerous hanging textiles or textiles have
been hung up for this purpose.
The steam shot function is only available in the top temperature
range. This is marked accordingly on the temperature control
knob.
The steam shot function can be used for steam ironing and dry
ironing, in order to e.g. smooth stubborn creases or obtain firm
ironing creases.

Information on the anti-limescale system
In order to extend the life of the iron, an anti-limescale cartridge is installed. It reduces the
limescale formation/deposits from escaping steam. This is cleaned using a self-cleaning
system. However, the formation of limescale will not be entirely prevented by the anti-
limescale cartridge.
Information on the anti-drip function
This function prevents water dripping out of the sole plate, if the temperature is too low
for generating steam. You can identify the anti-drip function by the clicking sound,
particularly when heating up or cooling down. This is normal and shows that the iron is
fully functional.
Cleaning
HAZARD
- Disconnect the mains plug from the socket.
- Allow the iron to cool off completely.
Using the self-cleaning function
The iron has a self-cleaning function With this, dust and small particles of dirt are removed
from the tank.
With average use, you should clean the iron using this function once a month:
1. Fill the tank no more than half way, see page 8.
2. Turn the temperature control knob to MAX. Wait until the orange control lamp goes
out.
7. Place the iron on its stand base or the appropriate stand surface on your ironing board.
8. As soon as the iron has heated up again - orange control lamp is off - iron an old, but
clean towel, or similar, in order to remove the last dirt particles from the soleplate.
3. Hold the iron over a sink or large cloth.
4. Press the SELF-CLEAN button. Water and steam is
discharged from the outlets of the soleplate.
5. Shake the iron back and forth to remove particles of dirt
in the tank.
6. Release the self-clean button as soon as no more water
is being discharged.

Shirts and blouses
zWhen ironing shirts and blouses, a wide ironing board is advantageous.
zFirst iron the yoke and collar on the wrong side, then on the right side, then the button
and buttonhole placket on the wrong side.
zStart with the cuffs of the sleeves, which you first iron on the wrong side and then on
the right side. Then, iron the sleeves, first on the wrong side and then on the right side.
zIn the next step, iron the front section. For this, position the shirt on the ironing board
with the button placket, so that the point of the ironing board fits into the yolk. Iron
over the entire length of the first half of the shirt, then over the second half of the shirt.
zNow, iron the back of the shirt in the same way as described.
zHang the shirt on a hanger for the steam to evaporate.
Tro u s e r s
zFirst, iron the pockets, then the waistband, first on the wrong side and then on the right
side.
zThen, pull the top of the trousers over the ironing board and iron
on both sides.
zAre the trousers intended to have a crease? Then place the left
trouser leg on the ironing board with the outer side so that both
seams are exactly on top of one another. Pay attention to the
existing crease.
zFirst, iron the inner side of the trouser leg, then the outer side.
Do the same with the second trouser leg.
zHang the trousers on a trouser hanger for the steam to evaporate.
zCreases that have accidentally been ironed in can be ironed out again with a shot of
steam.

Wrong side of right side?
zIf you want a shiny textile top side, e.g. for table linen, iron the item on the right side.
If you precisely do not want this, e.g. for dresses, iron these on the wrong side.
zIron dark and sensitive fabrics from the wrong side. Or place a cloth between the iron
and the fabric. This is particularly important with velvet and corduroy. Direct ironing
of these fabrics results in shiny spots.
zAppliqués and embroidery look particularly attractive if they are first ironed on a soft
surface on the right side and then on the wrong side.
This & that
Damp from the washing line
zTake laundry off of the washing line while it is still damp or select the "iron damp"
setting, if you use a dryer. Fold laundry so that it is smooth and iron quickly.
Hidden sample
zCheck the ironing temperature at a hidden part. This way you can rescue the garment
if the iron was too hot.
Delicates first
zWith shirts, blouses and dresses, first iron the parts that are difficult to access: Button
plackets, cuffs, collar and pockets. On both sides. Then it is time for the large surfaces.
Sleeve board
zA sleeve board helps with shirts and blouses. With this, even parts that are difficult to
access become smooth.
Calm and even
zCalmness is the key: Iron slowly and evenly. Hectic ironing movements easily push the
fabric together.
Cool off
zFreshly iron laundry should be cooled of before being put in the cupboard. Warm,
ironed laundry creases more easily.
