1.1 How to read this manual
1.1.1 Symbols
In this manual, the following symbols are used with the items where important operational and safety infor-
mation must be observed.
1.1.2 Key descriptions
In this manual, the operating keys are described as follows:

[ ] : Buttons on the display and computer

1.1.3 Descriptions for paper and documents
symbol : This shows that paper should be set with the shorter side positioned at the top.

This manual uses the screens of the ineo 25e standard model, unless otherwise stated. The screens you see
may differ, depending on the options installed.

2.1.1 Scanning to e-mail address
You can attach the scanned document to an e-mail for transmission.

To scan to e-mail, you should connect the machine to a network, and setup the "TCP/IP Settings", SMTP
settings in "E-mail Settings", and add an e-mail address to the machine in advance.
For details on the network setting, see chapter 3 in the Administrator’s Guide, and chapter 4 in the Message
Board Guide.
1Load the document.
2Press [Scan] on My MFP Menu screen.
%If My MFP Menu screen is not displayed, press <Mode>
repeatedly until "Scan Ready" screen is displayed.
3Set the resolution and color, as necessary.
%For details, see page 2-17 and Color.

4Press [e-mail].
5Select the desired destination.
%For details on specifying the destinations, see page 6-3.
%To use the personal address book, log in to the machine in advance.
%If you have selected a destination from the address book, scanning starts immediately.
6Press <Start>.
%This step is not necessary when you have selected the
destination from the address book.
%When you have loaded the document on the automatic
document feeder, this will conclude the operation.
%When you have loaded the document on the document
glass, the following message will appear when the first
page of the document is scanned.
7Load the next document, and press [Next Doc].

2.1.2 Scanning to shared PC folders
You can save a scanned document to a shared folder in a computer on the network.

To scan to folder, you should connect the machine to a network and setup the "TCP/IP Settings" in advance.
See chapter 3 in the Administrator’s Guide.
The folder shortcuts should be registered to your machine in advance. For details on registering the folder
shortcuts, see page 8-11.
The folder you specify directly should have shared folder settings on the computer in advance.
Scanning to a shared PC folder using folder shortcut
1Load the document.
2Press [Scan] on My MFP Menu screen.
%If My MFP Menu screen is not displayed, press <Mode>
repeatedly until "Scan Ready" screen is displayed.
3Set the resolution and document type, as necessary.
%For details, see page 2-17 and page 2-18.

5Select the desired folder shortcut.

Scanning to a shared PC folder by directly specifying the folder
1Load the document.
2Press [Scan] on My MFP Menu screen.
%If My MFP Menu screen is not displayed, press <Mode> repeatedly until "Scan Ready" screen is
displayed.
3Set the resolution and document type, as necessary.
%For details, see page 2-17 and page 2-18.
4Press [PC/USB], and then [Folder].
5Press [Browse].
%The list of computers or networks is displayed.
6Specify the shared folder to save the data, and press [Enter].
%The specified folder will be highlighted.
%Press [Root] to return to the list of computers or networks.
%Press [Back] to return to the previous screen.
Press [Cancel] to close the screen.
7Enter the user name to access the folder, and press [Enter].
%When no authentication is required or the to access the folder, proceed to step 9.
8Enter the password to access the folder, and press [Enter].
9Press <Start>.

2.1.3 Scanning to FTP servers
You can save a scanned document to a specific folder on an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server.

To scan to FTP server, you should connect the machine to a network and setup the "TCP/IP Settings" in ad-
vance.
See chapter 3 in the Administrator’s Guide.
The FTP shortcuts should be registered to your machine in advance. For details on registering the folder
shortcuts, see page 8-14.
Scanning to a FTP server using FTP shortcut
1Load the document.
2Press [Scan] on My MFP Menu screen.
