Operating the FSM
AsnotedearlierinthisguidetheFSM mountisnow theAzimuth axisofthe measurementsystemand the
turntableportionofthepositioneristheElevationAxis. Generaloperationof thesystemand makingmea-
surementsisnearly identicaltothe standardx100system. Theminordifferences inoperationaredesctribed
below.
90Degreeturntableoffset-When the DAMS software is configuredfortheFSMmountyouwill notice
thex100turntable’s 0positionisnow 90 degrees CWfrom the original0position, this is toallowtheFSM
totravel90degrees in bothdirectionsfromthe 0 degreeselevation. Ifthemountingof the FSMiscorrectit
willresembletheimagesatthebottomofthispage.
ZeroingtheAxis-x100 positioners have a static0deg.pointthatdoesnot change due to hardware limits,
theFSMmount doesNOThavelimitations therefore youcanpressthe “setzeroposition”in thesoftware
andthecurrentFSM positionwillbecome0DegreesAZ.
Resolution- x100 positioners have accuracies of .10 Deg/Meas and .25 Deg/Meas. the FSM mount has a
resolutionof.125deg/stepwith .0625possibleby enablinghalf/stepping

Troubleshooting
1.Checkallconnections and ensure thecontrollerandpowersupply are on.
2.Besureyouhave the FSM selected, COM port set, and “Move and Measure” selected in the software.
3.Checktoseethatyou have 2 DAMS related com portsshowinginDeviceManager
