We suggest to read the whole manual before using the Dive System torch.
A wrong usage of the torch and its accessories will avoid the validity of the warranty and may
cause permanent damages to the torch itself and to its accessories.

1. INTRODUZIONE
Congratulations on purchasing your Dive System LithiumLed-Speleo torch.
Dive System, with its quality products, is always with you to warrant comfort, safety and enjoyment
in diving.
The Dive System torch you bought is an extremely up to date torch, suitable both for recreational
and technical dives.
The Dive System illuminators are constructed with the finest materials, using the best technology
and introduce innovations that redefine the standards of quality and excellence in this field.
Each Dive System illuminator is designed, developed and assembled in Italy in the laboratories of
the Dive System Electronic Lab.
Each torch has a warranty of 2 years. The warranty is valid only if the warranty module was
correctly compiled in each of its part when it was bought and signed by the vendor.
The warranty covers only damages due to production process.

2. TORCH DESCRIPTION
2.1. BlackSun 1000 Lantern (small version)
The BlackSun 1000 Lantern torch is furnished with a lantern handle.
The torch has a rotating ferrule ignition. The ferrule is knurled and gray colored.
The ferrule can rotate for an angle of 180°.
To turn on the torch it is sufficient to rotate the ferrule.
The torch is made up by 4 pieces, shown in the figure below in topside down order:
-Battery cap with handle.
-Torch body in delrin.
-Battery pack.
-Light head.

WARNING!!! The Light head is lightly glued on the body. Do not disassemble it.

2.2. BlackSun 1000 Speleo
The BlackSun 1000 Speleo Torch is made up by a battery pack and a lighting head
connected via a special mold waterproof cable.
The torch is furnished with two handles. A Lantern handle mounted on the lighting head
and a low profile handle mounted on the battery pack to allow easy fixing on diving
equipment.
The torch has a rotating ferrule ignition. The ferrule is knurled and gray colored.
The ferrule can rotate for an angle of 180°.
To turn on the torch it is sufficient to rotate the ferrule.
The torch is made up by 5 pieces, show in the figure below in topside down order:
-Battery cap with low profile handle.
-Torch body in delrin.
-Battery pack.
-Speleo kit.
-Light head.

damaged.

2.3. BlackSun 1000 Speleo SideMount
The BlackSun 1000 Speleo Torch is made up by a battery pack and a lighting head
connected via a special mold waterproof cable.
The BlackSun 1000 Speleo SideMount Torch is studied to make easier the use of this torch
model in a sidemount configuration. The 90° cable gland mounted on the battery pack
allows the cable to be in the divers profile in order to avoid that the cable generates
foothold during the dive.
The torch has a rotating ferrule ignition. The ferrule is knurled and gray colored.
The ferrule can rotate for an angle of 180°.
To turn on the torch it is sufficient to rotate the ferrule.

3. CERTIFICATION
The torch received the European standard certification CE.
4. ADVERTISMENTS
WARNING!!! Do not point the torch directly in the eyes. Don’t look directly to the light emitted
from the torch, the emitted light could cause serious permanent damages to your sight.
The torch should be stored clean and dry.
Don’t expose the torch to chemical substances. To clean the torch use exclusively fresh water,
paying attention to remove all salt deposits.
The torch was designed for a underwater usage. However if you light on the torch outside the water,
once the torch reaches its temperature limit, the torch switches off automatically thanks to its TSS
system.
WARNING!!! If you light on the torch outside the water the case may reach a temperature in
excess of 70°C.
Do not hit the torch.
Do not expose the torch directly to the sunlight or to heat sources higher than 50°C. Store the torch
in a dry and cool place (5°C/25°C)
Do not try to open, modify or repair the torch on you own, always address it to Dive System or
authorized assistance centres ( chapter 7 ).
Do not disassemble the torch during dive. Open the torch only after it is completely dry.
Dive System is not responsible for accidents deriving from an improper usage of the torch.
The warranty is void if the security paint is removed.
The warranty is void if the battery pack envelop is damaged or removed.

5. CARATTERISTICHE TECNICHE
Each BlackSun torch is equipped with a microporcessor that controls via firmware all reported
electronic systems described down.
CML System (“Constant Maximum luminosity”), allows to maintain to 100% the emitted luminous
power for the whole declared autonomy.
BLM System (“Backup Light Mode”), once the battery is exhausted the luminous power is reduced
to the 20% allowing a backup light for at least 15 minutes.
TSS System (“Temperature Safety System”), shouts down the torch if it reaches a critical
temperature in order to avoid damages to the torch or to thing beside it.
EEC System (“Efficient Exploitation Circuit”), permits to use the whole energy stored in the
battery pack allowing high autonomies ad high luminous power.
Sealed Li-ion Battery packs: 53W (22,2V 2,4A/h) or 26W/h (11.1V 2.4A/h).
Magnetic switch.
Light colour temperature: 6500°K.
Total Beam angle: 10°.
Reduced dimensions and weight.
Light Body in anticorodal 6082 alluminium and delrin, laser etched.
Intelligent battery charger.
Maximum tested depth: 300meter.(Each light produced is tested in a hyperbaric chamber at a
pressure of 31 atm)

6. BATTERY RECHARGE
The battery pack is constructed with Li-ion cells. Using Li-ion technology the memory effect is
very reduced. Moreover the battery pack is provided with a redistribution circuit which allows to
arise the efficiency during charge and discharge cycles.
We suggest to not interrupt charging cycles.
WARNING!!! Do not completely discharge the torch. Recharge the torch as soon as it enters
backup light mode.
In order to charger battery please follow the steps below:
1) Before dismounting the torch check if torch is turned off and dry.
2) Unscrew the battery cap (the one with the handle).
3) Extract the battery pack. Be aware, the battery pack is hold in place by a pressure system.
4) Connect the battery charger to the supply network.
5) Connect the battery pack to the battery charger.
6) The charging process starts automatically.
7) Once charging process is completed insert the battery pack in the torch.
8) Screw on the battery cap and be aware that the orings are clean and not damaged.
WARNING!!! Use only original battery chargers.
The battery charger furnished with the torch is an intelligent battery charger, that once completed
the charging cycle stops automatically the charging process.
The Led on the battery charger indicates the status of the charging process:
-Green Led:
oBattery charger ready awaiting for a battery connection.
oCharging process complete.
-Red Led:
oCharging.
-Red/Green Led:
oFinal phase of charging process.
WARNING!!! If you do not use the torch for a long period we suggest to recharge completely the
battery pack and to store it in a dry and cool (5°C/25°C) place. Remind to recharge the battery pack
at least once every 3-4 months.
WARNING!!! Do not recharge the battery in a hot and/or wet environment.
