Briefly t e DMXPen products mission is record and carry easily: “Design your s ow, record and
bring wit you”.
W y recording? T e first goal of a professional lig t programmer is to select a lig t desk and
learn to use it in t e best way, because t is means freedom of expression and productivity.
T e DMXPen products range improve t is concept taking care of recording w at t e lig t
programmer realize w it is preferred equipment.
W y carry? Often t e lig t programmer presence is not necessary during t e s ow playback, so
e can realize t e s ow and record it so t e user as only t e duty to activate is playback (i.e.
fair boot , s op, club, etc.)
Moreover doing t is wit a normal lig t desk, mean carry eavy or expensive equipment t at
usually are not so familiar to t e users (i.e. barman, custodian, etc.).
T is is anot er issue improved from t e DMXPen products because contains only t e s ow
engine wit a simple user interface at a very low cost.

SET UP/CONNECTION
Be sure to ave t e microSD card inserted on t e socket (t e product is supplied wit t e
microSD card inserted on t e socket).
Note: t e device do not as a main ON/OFF switc and is necessary remove power
supply to make maintenance.

DMXPen Rec01N 232 is provided wit t e standard DMXPen engine t at allow remote
control via et ernet port using PenSuite software tools (PenSuite is a free software tools
available on t e device micorSD card or on www.dmxpen.com web site in bot PC and
MAC OS version).

REMOTE CONTROL
Remote Control via Ethernet Port (PenSuite)
As indicate on t e previous paragrap , connecting DMXPen to t e et ernet port and using
t e PenSuite software tools (PenSuite is a free software tools available on t e device
micorSD card or on www.dmxpen.com web site in bot PC and MAC OS version) t is
functions will be available:
– Start s ow playback
– Start s ow recording
– Data direction selections
– ArtNet signal transmission
– ArtNet signal receptions
Remote Control via MIDI Port
Start s ow playback To start a s ow playback using a MIDI device, it's enoug
to send a “MIDI Program C ange” command using t e
s ow number as parameter. In example MIDI Program
C ange 1, will start s ow 1 playback.
ArtNet – MIDI Conversion Il passaggio da 0 al 100% dei C 1-C 127 generano un
evento MIDI Note ON per le note 1-127. Il passaggio da
0 al 100% dei C 128-C 255 generano un evento MIDI
Program C ange 1-127.
DMX – MIDI Conversion Il passaggio da 0 al 100% dei C 1-C 127 generano un

Remote Control via RS 3 Port
DMXPen serial port data format is 19200,N,8,1 and t e communication protocol is based
on readable ASCII c aracters followed by a CR (ASCII13).
Here, eac time we type <CR> we refer to t e ASCII13 c aracter, t e CR.
DMX - ArtNet Data Direction $DDA<CR>
Configure t e DMX port as data input. Et ernet port will
send t e received frame using t e ArtNet protocol at t e
broadcast address configured wit PenSuite
ArtNet - DMX Data Direction $DAD<CR>
Configure t e ArtNet on t e et ernet port as data input.
DMX port will send t e received frame. Use PenSuite to
configure t e device universe number and IP and
broadcast address.

MAINTENANCE / CLEANING
No special maintenance operation are required for DMXPEN Rec01N 232.
Anyway remember to unplug t e device from t e power supply during maintenance and
cleaning operation.
Moreover we suggest to make a backup copy of t e s ow file stored on t e microSD card
using a PC connected or ot er card reader device.
Use only dry cleaning clot to clean DMXPen ControlBOX. Do not use cleaning solvent or
was ing powder.
