DESCRIPTION
DMXPen FilRouge device performs t e following functions:
–Conversion of an entire DMX512A universe received via USB (USB to DMX512A conversion)
–Stand-alone playback of internally stored sequences of scenes
DMXPen products' motto is to easy record and easy carry t e s ow and t e player: “Design
your s ow, record it and take all wit you”.
In comparison wit t e ot er DMXPen products, FilRouge does not record a DMX512A data
stream, instead FilRouge can be programmed via USB port t us playing back sequences of
scenes of an entire DMX512A universe.
Scenes and sequences can be set up and programmed using an available FREE App downloaded
on any Apple iPAD ®.
Likewise t e ot er DMXPen product series, t e FilRouge's functions ave been ig ly improved!
Often t e lig t programmer presence is not necessary during t e s ow playback, FilRouge can
receive t e s ow and record it on t e device, t e user as only t e duty to activate and
playback t e recorded s ows (i.e. Fair boot s, s ops, clubs, etc.). People must consider t e
nuisance w en t ey ave to carry eavy, cumbersome and expensive products especially if t ey
only ave to Playback recorded s ows. Most of t e time users are very unfamiliar wit suc
products; FilRouge for its essence will do away wit all t eses fears and will reassure users to
ave a more familiar approac . (i.e. bar-tenders, custodians, etc.)
FilRouge’s for its compactness is a very attractive and fas ionable device as t e case is t e
result of straig t aluminium lump process; Its accessible price is anot er good asset of t e
FilRouge.

SET UP/CONNECTIONS
FilRouge set up depends on t e usage type:
1. Programming/USB-DMX conversion : using an Apple ® Camera Kit (not included in t e
package), connect FilRouge to iPAD using t e USB cable provided and to t e DMX line
using t e RJ45-XLR 5 Pole Female cable provided.
2. Stand-Alone Function: connect t e FilRouge to an external USB 5VDC power supply
using t e USB cable provided and to t e DMX line using t e RJ45-XLR 5 Pole Female
cable provided.

DEVICE PROGRAMMING AND USAGE
One of t e most interesting FilRouge features is t e programming procedure: FilRouge is
operated via Apple ® iPAD using a free App t at is publis ed & available on t e Apple
Store ®.
FilRouge allows for editing of 30 scenes and andles one full DMX512A universe and
sorted in 4 different sequences. T is information collection (s ow) can be stored and
loaded from and to DMXPen FilRouge.
T e 4 sequences playback, can be activated in two modes:
1. Pressing t e button located on top of t e device: T e are 4 sequences t at can be
launc ed one after t e ot er by pressing t e top button. W en top button is eld for
1.5sec, playback stops.
2. To activate t e 1, 2, 3 or 4 sequence, connect t e digital input 1, 2, 3 or 4 to t e input-
common provided on t e RJ45 connector.
T is operation will automatically trigger t e integrated stand-alone playback of FilRouge
t at will be retained on power off. W en power is turned on, FilRouge will trigger again
t e last running sequence

available on t e www.dmxpen.com website.
S ow execution can be accomplis ed in real time by t e iPAD. In t is case make sure t e
FilRouge stand alone playback is stopped as well as t e FilRouge device secures t e USB
to DMX512A conversion.

MIDI TO DMX512A CONVERSION
FilRouge can also be operated via MIDI using t e standard USB port. FilRouge can be
connected to bot Apple ® iPAD as well as to a MAC or a PC, to t is regard t e use of
one of t e software available on t e market it may operate and may generate MIDI
Control C ange command.
T is feature is elpful for musicians as it allows for controlling a DMX line directly from
existing software.

MAINTENANCE / CLEANING
No special maintenance operation is required for DMXPEN FilRouge.
Always make sure to unplug t e device from t e power supply during maintenance and
cleaning operation.
Use only dry cleaning clot to clean DMXPen FilRouge. Do not use cleaning solvent or
was ing powder as it may impaired your items.
