MUPPY
zur Begradigung
Die MUPPY mit (Einbiss-)Käppchen verhindert ein
Abkippen der Mundvorhofplatte bei einer Unterkiefer-
Rücklage. Der Unterkiefer wird dabei nach vorne
geführt.
Abgesehen vom gestörten ästhetischen Eindruck
haben diese Fehlentwicklungen auch funktionelle
und gesundheitliche Folgen: Ihr Kind kann nicht
richtig abbeißen und schlucken, es „lispelt“ und atmet
durch den Mund statt durch die Nase, was unter
anderem zu häufigen Erkältungskrankheiten führen
kann. Ziele der Therapie sind das Abgewöhnen von
Habits und der Mundschluss.

MUPPY - Regeln
Studien haben gezeigt, dass mehr als 90% der Kinder
mit Hilfe von MUPPY das schädliche Nuckeln aufge-
ben. Ihre Unterstützung und ein paar Regeln helfen
Ihrem Kind:
1MUPPY ist ein Ersatz für Daumen und Schnuller.
Der Austausch muss freiwillig erfolgen.
2MUPPY muss jede Nacht getragen werden.
3Zur leichteren Gewöhnung sollte MUPPY auch
tagsüber stundenweise (beim Spielen oder Fern-
sehen) getragen werden.
4In der Regel gelingt die Entwöhnung innerhalb
einer Woche. Allerdings sollte MUPPY auch 6–8
Wochen nach erfolgreicher Schnullerentwöh-
nung getragen werden („Rückfallgefahr“).
5MUPPY kann in der Hygienebox aufbewahrt wer-
den.
6Nicht vergessen: Zähne und MUPPY regelmäßig
putzen!

Wie wird MUPPY getragen?
MUPPY wird ähnlich wie ein gewöhn-
licher Entwöhnungssauger verwen-
det. Dabei liegt das Schild zwischen
den Lippen und Zähnen. Das
Zungengitter liegt hinter den Zähnen
und hindert die Zunge daran, sich
zwischen die Zahnreihen zu legen.
Wenn Ihr Kind in einer logopädischen Behandlung
ist, sollten Sie Folgendes beachten:
• Halten Sie sich genau an die individuellen Trage-
und Übungsanweisungen Ihres Logopäden.
• Begleiten Sie Ihr Kind durch diese Phase, es muss
spüren, wie wichtig der Mundschluss ist, um die
Übungen selbst ernst zu nehmen.
• Machen Sie Ihrem Kind die „Spielregeln“ bewusst,
und überwachen Sie die notwendigen Übungen.

Gebrauchshinweise
Reinigen Sie MUPPY vor dem ersten Gebrauch gründ-
lich unter
fließendem, warmen Wasser. Kontrollieren
Sie MUPPY regelmäßig
auf durchgebissene Stellen!
MUPPY gegebenenfalls erneuern.
Reinigungshinweise
Gründlich mit einer Zahnbürste unter fließendem,
warmen Wasser reinigen. Alternativ können auch die
OROFAN
®
Dental-Reinigungstabs genommen werden.
MUPPY ist nicht spülmaschinen- und mikrowellenge-
eignet. Die hygienische MUPPY-Box nur mit einem
feuchten Tuch reinigen.

MUPPY - Ausführungen
MUPPY Käppchen ist in zwei verschiedenen Größen
erhältlich:
• mit violettem Ring für das Milchgebiss (GrößeI)
•mit blauem Ring für das Wechselgebiss (GrößeII)
Darüber hinaus kann zwischen unterschiedlichen
Härtegraden (elastisch, starr) gewählt werden.

MUPPY
for straightening
MUPPY with small (biting) cap prevents tipping of the
vestibular plate when the lower jaw is retracted,
thereby guiding it forwards.
Apart from the negative aesthetic impression, these
malformations also have functional and health
consequences: Your child cannot bite off and swallow
correctly, he/she also “lisps” and breathes through the
mouth instead of through the nose, which can lead to
frequent colds, among other things. The goal of
therapy is the weaning of habits and the mouth
closure.

MUPPY - rules
Studies have shown that more than 90 % of children
give up damaging sucking habits with the help of
MUPPY. Your support and a few rules help your child:
1MUPPY is a substitute for thumb and dummy. The
substitution must be voluntary.
2MUPPY must always be worn at night.
3To get used to it easier children should also wear
MUPPY a few hours during the day (when playing
or watching television).
4As a rule, weaning is successful within a week.
However, MUPPY should also be worn for 6–8
weeks after successful weaning of the dummy
(“recidivism”).
5MUPPY can be stored in the hygiene box.
6Do not forget to regularly brush the teeth and
MUPPY!

How ist MUPPY worn?
MUPPY is worn similarly to a com-
mon weaning dummy. The shield lies
between the lips and the small cap
behind the lower front teeth. The
small cap guides the lower jaw to a
neutral bite position, thereby facili-
tating and training lip closure.
If your child is having speech therapy treatment, you
should take note of the following:
• Follow your speech therapist’s individual wearing
and exercise instructions exactly.
• Support your child during this stage, as he/she has
to feel the importance of mouth closure in order to
take the exercises seriously.
• Make your child aware of the “rules of play” and
supervise the necessary exercises.

Instructions for use
Before using MUPPY for the first time, clean it tho-
roughly under warm running water. Check MUPPY re-
gularly for places that have been bitten through!
Replace
MUPPY when necessary.
Cleaning instructions
Clean thoroughly with a toothbrush under warm run-
ning water. Alternatively, you can also use the
OROFAN®dental cleaning tablets. MUPPY is neither
dishwasher-safe nor microwave-safe. Only clean the
hygienic MUPPY-Box with a damp cloth.

MUPPY - designs
MUPPY small cap is available in two different sizes:
• with violet ring for deciduous dentition (sizeI)
•with blue ring for mixed dentition (sizeII)
There are also different hardness grades (elastic, rigid)
available.

MUPPY

MUPPY avec butée (en contact avec les incisives infé-
rieures) empêche un basculement de l’écran buccal
en cas de rétroposition de la mandibule. La mandibule
est repositionnée vers l’avant.
Mis à part l’aspect inesthétique, ces troubles du déve-
loppement ont également des conséquences fonc-
tionnelles ainsi que sur la santé. Votre enfant ne peut
pas correctement mordre et avaler, il zézaie et respire
par la bouche au lieu du nez, ce qui peut provoquer,
entre autres, de fréquentes affections respiratoires. La
thérapie a pour but d'abandonner les habitudes et de
fermer la bouche.

Règles MUPPY
Des études ont montré que plus de 90 % des enfants
avec l’aide de MUPPY abandonnent la succion nui-
sible. Votre soutien et quelques règles aident votre en-
fant :
1MUPPY est un substitut pour le pouce et la tétine.
Le remplacement doit se faire volontairement.
2MUPPY doit être porté chaque nuit.
3Pour s’habituer plus facilement, MUPPY devrait
aussi être porté quelques heures de jour (en jouant
ou en regardant la télévision).
4En règle générale, le sevrage réussit en une se-
maine. Cependant, MUPPY devrait encore être
porté 6-8 semaines après le sevrage de la tétine
réussi (risque de rechute).
5MUPPY doit être conservé dans la boîte de range-
ment.
6Ne pas oublier : de se brosser les dents et de net-
toyer MUPPY régulièrement !

Comment MUPPY est-il porté?
MUPPY est utilisé comme une tétine
de sevrage ordinaire. Il repose libre-
ment entre les lèvres et la butée se
place derrière les incisives mandibu-
laires. Grâce à la butée, la mandibule
est repositionnée dans une occlusion
neutre. La fermeture labiale est ainsi
facilitée et exercée.
Si votre enfant suit un traitement orthophonique,
vous devriez veiller à :
• respecter scrupuleusement les indications indivi-
duelles de port et d‘exercices données par votre or-
thophoniste.
• accompagner votre enfant durant cette phase,
il doit comprendre l’importance de la fermeture
labiale afin de prendre les exercices au sérieux.
• informer votre enfant des «règles du jeu» et surveil-
ler les exercices nécessaires.

Conseils d'utilisation
Nettoyez soigneusement MUPPY avant la première
utilisation sous de l’eau chaude courante. Contrôlez
régulièrement
MUPPY sur la présence d’endroits mor-
dus ! Remplacez MUPPY si nécessaire.
Conseils de nettoyage
Nettoyer soigneusement avec une brosse à dents sous
l’eau chaude courante. Alternativement, les compri-
més de nettoyage OROFAN®peuvent être utilisés.
MUPPY n’est pas adapté pour les lave-vaisselle et les
micro-ondes. Ne nettoyer la boîte MUPPY qu’avec un
chiffon humide.

Modèles MUPPY
MUPPY Standard est disponible en deux tailles diffé-
rentes:
• avec un anneau violette pour la denture lactéale
(taille I)
• avec un anneau bleu pour la denture mixte (taille II)
De plus, il est possible de choisir entre différentes
duretés (souple, rigide).

MUPPY
per il raddrizzamento
Il MUPPY dotato di cappuccio (da mordere) impedisce
che la piastra vestibolare si ribalti in caso di mandibola
inferiore arretrata. Per cui, la mandibola inferiore
viene portata in avanti.
A parte l’effetto estetico negativo, queste malforma-
zioni influiscono anche sull’aspetto funzionale e sulla
salute: il bambino non riesce a mordere e a deglutire
correttamente, ha una pronuncia blesa e respira attra-
verso la bocca e non con il naso, il che tra l’altro può
provocare frequenti raffreddori. L’obiettivo della terapia
è l’abbandono di determinate abitudini e la chiusura
della bocca.
