Preface
DRU develops and produces products that comply with the highest quality,
performance and safety requirements.
This will enable you to enjoy using this product for many years to come.
The appliance is provided with a CE mark. Gas-fired appliances that comply
with the requirements for safety, environment and energy consumption (the
so-called essential requirements) of the European gas appliance directive, are
entitled to carry the CE mark.
Your appliance should be installed and maintained by a competent installer.
Two manuals are supplied with the appliance: the installation manual and the
user manual.
The user manual will give you the information you need to operate the ap-
pliance properly and safely.
Carefully read this user manual prior to using the appliance.
Keep the user manual AND the installation manual in a safe place.
As a user you are only entitled to perform the work described in the user
manual. Any other work requires a competent installer.
In case of questions or doubts, please contact your installer.
The following symbols are used in the user manual to indicate important
information:

1. Introduction
Your appliance is a room-sealed atmospheric gas-fired heating appliance. A
room-sealed appliance does not extract the combustion air from the living
environment, but from outside. This is done by means of a combined flue gas
discharge system / combustion air supply system. This system can be instal-
led through the wall or through the roof. If necessary, the appliance will be
built in a chimney breast. A chimney breast must always be ventilated in order
to be able to discharge heat properly.
2. SAFETY
2.1 General
!Caution - Carefully read this chapter on safety;
- Observe the precautions/instructions in this manual.
2.2 Precautions / safety instructions
Carefully observe the following precautions/regulations:
➠
your appliance should be installed and maintained by a competent installer;
➠
do not make any changes to the appliance yourself;
➠
have your appliance maintained for at least 1x per year;
➠
close the gas tap if the appliance ignites with a pop sound and/or poorly and
contact the installer;
➠
close the gas tap in case of malfunctions and/or poor performance of the appli-
ance, contact the installer and make sure there is no voltage on the appliance;
➠
If the appliance does not ignite after three restarts and enters hard lockout, it may
never be reset by disconnecting it from the power supply. Ask your dealer/installer
what you should do.
➠
In case of a broken or torn glass pane, do not use the appliance and close the gas
tap. Have the glass pane replaced immediately;
➠
make sure that combustible objects and/or materials such as curtains have a
distance from the appliance and/or the ues of at least 50 cm;
➠
do not dry clothes, towels etc. on and/or near the appliance, in order to prevent
re;
➠
avoid contact with hot parts of the appliance to prevent burns;
➠
do not leave children and persons who cannot judge the consequences of their
actions alone with a burning appliance;
➠
place the remote control out of reach from children and persons who cannot pro-
perly judge the consequences of their actions;
➠
make sure the control hatch is closed, because of electric voltage;
➠
If the appliance will not be used for an extended period of time, we recommend
removing the batteries from the remote control and receiver. This will prevent da-
mage to the appliance due to leaking batteries.

!Caution Appliance is supplied with 230VAC 50Hz.
!Caution The control of the appliance is provided with strict safety requirements. It is pos-
sible that the burning appliance switches o automatically and immediately swit-
ches on again. This is not a malfunction, but a check. From the moment that the
appliance’s control is connected to the power supply, the control will perform this
check every 24 hours. If the appliance is burning at that moment, it will extinguish
and immediately switch on again. If you wish to prevent this, you can remove the
plug and reconnect it, at a time when the appliance never (or hardly ever) burns.
3. Taking the appliance in operation
3.1 For the first time
When using a chimney breast, it has to be dry before you take the appliance
into operation. This is to prevent shrinkage cracks.
!Caution If the chimney breast is made of stone-like materials or has been nished in stuc-
co, it should be left to dry for at least 6 weeks prior to taking it into operation.
In order to be able to use the wireless remote control, you must set a com-
munication code between the remote control and the receiver, prior to putting
the appliance into operation; for this, see chapter 4.3.1.
When the appliance is stoked up for the first time, an unpleasant smell may
occur as volatile components evaporate from paint, materials, etc. This may
take a number of hours.
!Caution - Pets and birds in particular can be sensitive to the vapours that are released;
- In the beginning the flame picture is affected by the evaporation of volatile
components.
!Tip - Set the appliance to its highest level to speed up the evaporation process;
- Keep the room well ventilated;
- Remove pets from the room.
3.2 Protection
To prevent unsafe situations, you should carefully observe the following mea-
sures/instructions.
!Caution - When controlling the appliance with the remote control on thermostat func-
tion, or by means of a tablet with app, or a domotics system, the appliance may
be switched on while you are not present. Therefore, please take measures to
prevent damage to goods or persons in such a case;

- Make sure that combustible objects and/or materials such as curtains have a
distance from the appliance and/or the ues of at least 50 cm;
- Do not dry clothes, towels etc. on and/or near the appliance, in order to
prevent fire;
- Avoid contact with hot parts of the appliance to prevent burns;
- Do not leave children and persons who cannot judge the consequences of
their actions alone with a burning appliance;
- Place the remote control out of reach from children and persons who can-
not properly judge the consequences of their actions.
3.3 Discoloration of walls and ceilings
A brown discoloration is an unpleasant and difficult to solve problem. Brown
discoloration can be caused by burning substances as a result of insufficient
ventilation, smoking, burning candles, oil lamps, etc. Cigarette and cigar smo-
ke contain tar substances that are deposited on colder walls.
These problems can be (partly) solved through a proper ventilation of the
room where the appliance is placed.
4. Radiographic remote control
The appliance is supplied with a wireless, radiographic remote control. This
allows you to control the appliance manually, as well as by means of a time
schedule.
The temperature and flame height can be controlled manually; the time sche-
dule will only control the temperature.
The possible time schedules are:
- A time schedule with the same settings for each day.
- A time schedule with separate settings for the week days (Monday to
Friday) and the weekend.
- A time schedule with separate settings for each day.
For each day, two, four or six different time periods can be set.
The time schedule can easily be set by setting the begin time and the tempe-
rature set point of each period.
4.1 Flame Symbol
A flame symbol indicates that the burner of your appliance has been switched
on.
4.2 Batteries
Before you can take the remote control in operation, the two supplied ‘penlite’
batteries (type AA) have to be placed. After the batteries have been placed,

the remote control is ready for manual operation with flame height control. To
save battery life, some time after the last key pressure, the display goes blank,
unless the appliance is switched on.
4.3 Receiver
The receiver is located near the appliance.
4.3.1 Setting the communication code
The remote control will only be able to communicate
with the appliance after the remote control has been
registered at the appliance.
➠
Make sure the voltage of the appliance is not switched
o for longer than 5 minutes.
➠
If the remote control does not have the “BND” state,
the following operations must be performed; Press
the key of the remote control for 10 seconds,
then briefly press the same key a few times until the
display (see fig. 1) appears.
➠
Briey press the and keys simultaneously. The
following display will appear (see g. 2). As soon as
logging on is finished, the start screen will appear. If logging on failed, a dif-
ferent screen will appear (see fig. 1).
!Caution Although highly improbable, we cannot rule out that your appliance’s ignition
process can be started unintentionally through other remote controls.
This could be the remote control of your neighbours’ gas heater, but also car
keys and garage door openers.
The result will be that your appliance will burn when you do not want it to.
Unintended ignition of your appliance could be solved/prevented by:
- setting a new communication code between remote control and receiver
- closing the gas tap near your appliance. This is the safest precaution, if the
appliance will not be used for a longer period;
- Observe stated precautions / safety instructions - even if the appliance is
not in use.
5. Time and day
The time schedule of the remote control can only be used if the time has been
set. The time and day can be set in the User Menu, see section 8.2 ‘Setting
Time and Day’. The time representation, 12-hours or 24-hours, can be set in
the Installation Menu, see section 9.1 ‘Choice 12- or 24-Hours Representation’.

6. Operation
The remote control is equipped with a display and four keys. Because of this
the appliance can be easily operated and settings easily be adjusted.
There are two setting menus available:
- a User Menu (see chapter 8)
- an Installation Menu (see chapter 9)
Press key for at least 2 seconds to select the ‘User Menu’, or keep key
pressed for ten seconds to select the ‘Installation Menu’.
6.1 Manual Operation
Depending on the choice made in the ‘User Menu’, the temperature or the
flame height can be controlled manually.
6.1.1 Flame height control
The appliance must be switched on and off manually.
6.1.2 Igniting the appliance
Press the and keys simultaneously for at least 2 seconds (see fig. 3).
The display shown in figure 4 appears. The symbols and are flashing to
indicate the appliance is being ignited.
!Caution If you own a propane appliance, the following applies: wait 3 minutes after swit-
ching o the appliance before restarting it. If you do perform a start-up on the
remote control within those 3 minutes, the start-up symbol will appear in the dis-
play (see gure 4). After the 3 minutes have passed, the appliance will ignite after
all.
!Caution If the appliance does not ignite after three restarts and enters hard lockout, it may
never be reset by disconnecting it from the power supply. Ask your dealer/installer
what you should do.
!Caution If PowerVent is used, it will take at least 8 seconds before the appliance ignites.
The main burner will be ignited at 50%. The symbol in the display dis-
appears and the symbol stops flashing. If a flame is detected, the appliance
will switch to full capacity. The second burner is ignited (if applicable).

As soon as the appliance is ignited, the display shown in figure 5 appears.
The flame height can now be set manually.
!Tip You will hear a ‘click’ sound before the second burner is ignited.
6.1.2.1 Switching the second burner on and off (if applicable)
The second burner can be switched on and off by means of a key combination
on the remote control.
- Press the and keys simultaneously. The second burner will switch on.
- Press the and keys simultaneously. The second burner will switch off.
The main burner briefly goes in low mode and returns to the state prior to
switching on the second burner.
- Press the key once. The second burner will switch off.
!Caution Press the key twice, or press and hold the key, the appliance will switch
o completely.
The method described above will only be possible if the system is in ‘manual
mode’. This is shown by the symbol in the remote control’s display.
6.1.3 Setting the flame height
Press the or key once. The display shown
in figure 6 becomes visible. The currently set flame
height flashes.

Set the required ame height using the and
keys. Depending on which key is pressed, the or
symbol will be momentarily visible on the display.
The flame height can be set between 1 and 15. The height of the flame is
shown in the display: 1 (lowest position) and 15 (highest position).
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.
!Caution The ame height can only be adjusted if the appliance is on.
6.1.4 Switching off the appliance
➠
Press the key, or press twice when the second bur-
ner is switched on also, to switch o the appliance.
The display shown in figure 7 appears. The sym-
bol flashes to indicate that the appliance is being
switched off. After the appliance has been switched
off, the default display is shown again.

6.2 Temperature control
The appliance is automatically switched on and off
according to the heat demand. Press the or
key once to set the required temperature. The dis-
play shown in figure 8 appears. The currently set
temperature flashes.
➠
Set the required temperature using the and
keys. Depending on which key is pressed, the or
symbol will be momentarily visible on the display. The temperature can be set
between 5.0 and 35.0 °C.
!Caution Make sure the remote control is in the same room as the appliance.
!Caution The remote control has a thermostat. Always place it on a set, draught-free loca-
tion with no direct sunlight.
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.
6.2.1 Temporarily interrupting temperature control
When temperature control is used, the appliance
can temporarily be switched off.
➠
Press the key once to switch o the appliance.
The display shown in figure 9 appears. The sym-
bol flashes to indicate that the appliance is being
switched off. After the appliance is switched off, the
display shown in figure 10 appears.
The symbol flashes to indicate the appli-
ance has to be ignited manually by pressing the
and keys simultaneously.
When the appliance is ignited again, the tempera-
ture control becomes active
!Caution The temperature set point can not be changed during the temporarily tempera-
ture control interruption.
6.3 Alternative operation
In addition to your remote control, it is also possible to operate the fire in
alternative ways. For example, via an application on your tablet.

!Caution If you are using WIFI (e.g. telephone or tablet) to operate the appliance, you must
take precautions to prevent hacking and unintended activation of the appliance
by third parties.

7. Time Schedule
The temperature is controlled according to the time schedule, see section
8.3 ‘Setting Time Schedule’. The appliance is fully automatically ignited and
switched off.
7.1 Temporarily changing the temperature set point
The temperature set point of a time schedule period
can temporarily be enhanced or lowered.
➠
Press the or key once to set the temporarily
required set point. The display shown in gure 11 ap-
pears.
The currently set temperature flashes.
➠
Set the temporarily required temperature set point by
pressing the and keys. Depending on which
key is pressed, the or symbol will be momenta-
rily visible on the display.
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the
menu.
The display (example) shown in figure 12 appears.
The symbol indicates that the temperature set point has been adjusted
manually.
The temporary adjustment can be undone by setting the manually adjusted
set point back to the set point of the current time period. In case of a transiti-
on to a new time period, the temporary adjustment is cancelled automatically.
7.2 Temporarily interrupting the time schedule
In case of the use of a time schedule, the appliance can also be switched off
temporarily.
➠
Press the key once if the appliance has been ignited.
The display (example) shown in figure 13 appears. The symbol flashes to
indicate that the appliance is being switched off.
After the appliance is switched off, the display
shown in figure 14 appears.
The symbol flashes to indicate that the
appliance has to be ignited manually by
pressing the and keys simultaneously.
When the appliance is ignited again, the time sche-
dule becomes active again.
!Caution The temperature set point can not be changed when
the time schedule is temporarily interrupted.

8. User Menu
The user menu consists of four screens providing the following functions:
- Screen 1: Eco wave
- Screen 2: Switch contact
- Screen 3: Omnivent
- Screen 4: Adjusting the time
If you do not want to use a screen and its accompanying functions, you are
able to switch it off. These functions will no longer be visible on your remote
control.
!Tip At delivery, the remote control is set to manual operation. If you want to use the
time schedule, you will have to set this in the installation menu (see chapter 9). In
that case, these functions will be available to you, and you will nd them in the
fourth (and following) screen(s)/menu page(s) in the user menu. In this installation
menu you will also be able to switch o the screens mentioned under chapter 8.
In the User Menu the following choices can be made:
- Manually with flame height control
- Manually with temperature control
- Time schedule (temperature control)
In the User Menu the following settings are available:
- Time
- Day of the week
- Time Schedule
!Caution The User Menu is left by pressing key, or ve seconds after the last key press.
8.1 Eco wave
The first screen in the user menu is the Wave func-
tion (see fig. 15). This function will allow you to vary
the height of the flame picture automatically and
continuously. In this way you will save energy, while
enjoying a beautiful flame picture. With the remote
control this function can only be switched on and
off.
With the application there are many more options.
!Tip In order to be able to activate the Wave function, the appliance must be on!

Proceed as follows:
➠
Go to the rst screen of the User Menu. Hold down key for 2 seconds.
➠
Switch the Wave function on or o using the arrows“ ”: 1 = on, 0 = o.
8.2 Switch contact (if applicable)
The second screen in the user menu is the switch
contact (see fig. 16). This function allows you to
operate a lamp from the fire’s remote control. With
the remote control this function can only be swit-
ched on and off.
With the application there are many more options.
!Tip In order to be able to use this function, a lamp/Lux element will have to be con-
nected!
Proceed as follows:
➠
Go to the second screen of the User Menu. Hold down the key for 2 seconds
and then briey press the key once more.
➠
Switch on the lamp/Lux element (max 230VAC) using the arrows “ ”: 1 = on,
0 = o.
8.3 Omnivent (if applicable)
The third screen of the User Menu is used to con-
trol the Omnivent ventilation system (see fig. 17).
For instance, this function allows you to operate a
fan in the chimney breast with your remote control.
This function can only be switched on and off.
!Tip In order to be able to use this function, an Omnivent ventilation system must be
connected!
Proceed as follows:
➠
Go to the third screen of the User Menu. Hold down the key for 2 seconds and
then briey press the key twice.
➠
Switch the Omnivent on or o using the arrows“ ”: 1 = on, 0 = o.
8.4 Manually or Time Schedule
➠
Press the key once. The display shown in gure 18
appears.
A combination of two symbols flashes. There are
three possible combinations:

+ : manually with flame height control

Press the or key to select the required combination.
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.
8.5 Setting Time and Day
➠
Press the key a few times until the display shown in
gure 19 appears. The currently set time ashes.
➠
Press the and keys to set the correct time.
➠
Press the key. The days of the week are ashing.
➠
Press the and keys to set the day of the week.
The open square indicates the day selected.
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the
menu.
!Caution The days of the week are not shown in case a 1 day time schedule has been chosen.
8.6 Setting the Time Schedule
Depending on the choices made in the Installation Menu, 1, 2 or 7 time sche-
dules and II or IV time periods per day can be set.
The setting of the time schedules is the same for all choices.
Setting a time schedule goes as follows:
➠
Press the key a few times until the display shown in gure 20 appears. The
begin time of time period I ashes.
➠
Press the and keys to set the correct begin time.
➠
Press the key. The current temperature set point of time period I ashes
➠
Press the and keys to set the correct temperature for time period I.
➠
Press the key and repeat the steps above to set the required begin time and
temperature set point for all periods and days.
It is also possible to switch off the appliance during a set period of time.
➠
To do so, select --,- during the setting of the required temperature (see the gure
with the example display 21).
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.

9. Installation Menu
Select the Installation menu as follows:
➠
If selected, leave the User Menu.
➠
Then keep the key pressed for ten seconds.
In the Installation Menu the following choices can be made:
12- or 24-hours time representation
Time schedule (1, 5/2, 7days or )
Number of time periods per day (II, IV or VI)
!Caution The Installation Menu is left by pressing key, or ve seconds after the last key
press.
9.1 12- or 24-hours time representation
➠
Press the key a few times, until the gure 22 or 23
appears. The current time display ashes.
➠
Press the or key to select the required time re-
presentation.
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the
menu.
9.2 Time schedule (1, 5/2, 7days or )
➠
Press the key a few times until one of the displays
below is shown (see gures 24 to 27).
➠
Press the or key to select the required time
schedule (1, 5/2, 7days or )

Time schedule 5/2 is represented by the display showing 1..6.
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.
!Caution If is chosen, this will mean that no time schedule is used. In this case, only ma-
nual operation with ame height control is possible.

9.3 Day Time Periods (II, IV or VI)
➠
Press the key a few times until one of the displays below is shown (see gures
28 to 30). The currently set choice (digits) ashes.
➠
Press the or key to select the required number of time periods per day
(II, IV or VI)
➠
Wait a few seconds or press the key to leave the menu.
9.4 Selection settings Eco-wave, Switch contact and Omnivent
➠
Press the key a few times until one of the displays below is shown (see gures
15 to 17). The currently set choice (digits) ashes.
➠
Use the or key to select the required setting of the functions:
0 = not available in menu
1 = always off
2 = always on
3 = latest position.
10. Receiving Sensitivity
➠
Press the and keys simultaneously. The display
shown in gure 31 appears.
The RSSI (Receiver Signal Strength Indicator)
values are shown.
RSSI: from -20 to -70 is good, from -80 to -100 is
poor.
If needed, hold the remote control closer to the appliance in order to improve
the reception

11. Replacing the Batteries
The remote control operates with two ‘penlite’ alkaline batteries (type AA).
If the symbol is shown flashing on the display, the batteries have to be
replaced.
If the batteries are completely empty, the display will go blank. Therefore,
replace the batteries of the remote control in time.
Replace the batteries as follows:
➠
Remove the back cover of the RF remote control by moving the back cover down
a few millimetres (see gure 32) and then lifting up the back cover.
➠
Remove the old batteries from their holder.
➠
Place a new set of batteries in the holder as shown in gure 33.
➠
Replace the back cover of the remote control by placing the tabs A and B of the
back cover (see g. 34) in the according notches of the housing (see g. 33).
➠
Push the back cover up to secure it.
➠
The current time and day of the week must be set again after replacement of the
batteries. However, this is only necessary in case a time schedule is used.
!Caution Do not throw empty batteries away but dispose of them as chemical waste.

12. Troubleshooter
The displays in figure 35 to 37 indicate possible malfunction situations.
Communication failure between remote control and appliance (see g. 35).
The symbol flashes.
The distance between the appliance and the remote control is probably too
large. Hold the remote control nearer to the appliance.
Malfunction of the appliance (see g. 36).
The display shows an F, followed by a 2-digit malfunction code.
The symbol flashes.
!Caution The appliance should not be used, please contact your installer.
A so called lock-out malfunction of the appliance (see g. 37).
The display shows an F, followed by a 2-digit malfunction code. The text reset
indicates that the appliance can be reset. The symbol flashes.
In case of error message F01, you will be able to ignite the appliance 3x in a
row, maximum. Then, F00 will be shown on the display, and no ignition can
take place for 30 minutes.
13. Maintenance
At least once per year, the appliance should be checked for proper and safe
operation.
!Caution - Your appliance should be maintained by a competent installer;
- In case of a broken or torn glass pane, do not use the appliance and close
the gas tap. Have the glass pane replaced immediately.
- Do not make any changes to the appliance yourself.
!Caution As user, you are only allowed to clean the appliance on the outside:
- Do not use corrosive detergents;
- Paint damages, resulting from objects fallen/placed against the mantel of
the appliance are not covered by the warranty.

13.1 Cleaning the glass pane
Some appliances make it easy for you to clean the inside of the glass pane.
These appliances have a pane frame that can be tilted towards the front. If
you are using such an appliance, please proceed as follows when opening
and closing the fire.
!Caution Only clean a glass pane when the re is ‘cold’!
!Caution Avoid/remove ngerprints on the glass pane, as they will burn into the glass.
13.1.1 Opening the pane frame
In order to open the pane frame, please take the following steps (see fig. 38):
➠
Loosen the bolt (T) in the lock bracket (U) by 3 turns (see g. 38 (1)).
➠
Turn the lock bracket (U) to the left by a quarter turn. This will unlock the handle
(X), by means of which the frame can be opened.
➠
Use your index ngers to pull the handle (X) down and slide the handle 180° to the
right along the bottom (see g. 38 (2 and 3)).
!Caution Push down the pane frame while sliding the handle (X) to the right. This will pre-
vent the glass pane from falling forwards and getting damaged.

Pull the pane frame towards the front with the two lips located at the left and right
top side of the frame, until you are unable to pull them any further (see g. 39).

The pane frame has now been opened. Now it will be easy to clean the glass pane.
13.1.2 Closing the pane frame
The pane frame is closed by using the above procedure in reverse order.
Pay attention to the following when closing the glass pane:

Make sure that the pane frame is placed in the left and right grooves.

!Caution You must push down the frame before you will be able to slide the handle to the
left again. Otherwise, the projections will not fall over the glass pane, as a result
which it is not properly xed.

Turn the lock bracket (U) back to its position and re-tighten the bolt (T).
14. Environment
14.1 General
Packaging materials must be disposed of in accordance with the regulations.
Batteries are considered as small chemical waste and should be placed in
special containers.
14.2 Appliance
When the appliance has reached the end of its life, you should have it
processed sensibly, so that the appliance or parts of it can be used again.
!Caution Take the following steps, prior to removing the appliance:
- First close the gas tap;
- Disconnect the 230VAC connection;
- Then unscrew the coupling between appliance and gas tap.

Remove the appliance;
➠
Do not place the appliance with unsorted waste, but bring it to a recognized
collection point;
➠
Contact your council for information on available delivery and collection systems.
15. Warranty
The warranty for your DRU appliance will be provided by your supplier. In case
of complaints, you must always contact him. You supplier will contact DRU
if he feels this is necessary. The factory warranty is valid for 2 years after date
of purchase.
