Asyou unpackthisset, makesure you havethe following itemsinthe package.

3.Replacethe batterydoor and snap itshut(FIG.3).
Step2:Powering thePhone
Before you connectthe phone cords,followthesestepstoinstall the batteries:
1.Pushdownthe batterydoor tab withapen orother pointed objectand lift the battery
door out(FIG.1).
2.Insert4size “AA”alkaline batteriesasshowninside the batterycompartment(FIG.2).
(The negativeside (-) ofthe batterytouchesthe batteryspring.)
CAUTION
Makesurethatthe telephoneline cordisdisconnectedbeforeopening the battery
door. Replacethe batterieswhen the lowbatteryindicator appearsinthe display..
•When the batteriesare dead,the displaywill notshowanything.You canstill makeor
receivecalls,butyou can tusethe Caller IDormemorydialing.
•Whenthe batteriesare dead,your dataandsettingscouldbe erased.

1.Pushbothsidesofthe bracketand insertthe2wider raised
tabsofthe bracketintothe wider slotson the back ofthe
baseaccording tothe arrowon the bracket.
2.Press the bracketuntil the 2narrowraised tabsofthe
bracketareinsertedintothenarrowslotson thebackof
thebase.
3.Toseparatethebracketfromthe base,pushbothsidesof
the bracketand pullthe bracketout.
SETTINGUPLCD CONTRAST,LANGUAGE,AREACODE,TIMEAND
DATE
You mayneed tosetup the LCD contrast, language,area code,timeanddatefor your
telephone when you install the batteriesforthe firsttimeor when you movetoan area
thathasadifferentareacode.Thisisnecessarybecausethe phonemustdistinguish
localor longdistancecallstoproperlydialcallsfromthe Caller IDlist.
Pressandholdthe DELETE buttondown,then press the
DOWN button,SETLANGUAGEwill showinthedisplay.The
defaultlanguage “E”(“E”=English; “F”=French; “S”=Spanish)
will flash.Releasethe DELETEbutton,and press the UPor
DOWNbuttontochooseyourdesiredlanguage(flashing).
Press the DELETEbutton toconfirmand accept.
Then the displaywill ask you tosetyour Area Code:
Whilethe firstdigitisflashing,you should:
1.PresstheUPbuttontill the firstdigitofyour areacode is
displayed(flashing).
2.Press the DELETEbutton toacceptand go tothe nextdigit.
Step4:Setting up theTelephone
Press theDISPLAYbutton repeatedlytoadjust theLCD contrast level.
NOTE:Duringsetup,ifyoudonotpress theDELETEbuttonwithin10seconds,thedisplay
willgetbacktonormaldisplaymode.
We recommend youtousethe plasticbracket for proper desk
use.

After setting theLCDcontrast, language,area code,time&date,you can adjustthe
displaytothe proper position sothatyou can easy read the information inthe display.
TORESETTHEPHONE
Intherare caseofabnormaltelephoneline interference,yourphonemaynotwork
properlyandmayneedtobereset.Makesure thephoneishung up,useapointed
objectlikeastraighted pape clipand stick itintothe small holeatthe back ofthe phone
(marked RESET)for 2second.The displaywill becomeblankfor aboutone second,then
resumetothe previousdisplay. Note all theinformation inyourphone(including the
memorynumbersyou storedand callerIDlist)will belost.
Then the displaywill ask you tosetthe LCD contrast, you can press the UPor DOWN
button toadjustthe LCD contrast, andpress the DELETEbutton toconfirm.Ingeneral,
you can press the DISPLAYbutton directlytosetthe LCDcontrast.

Selectthetypeofdialingthatyoudesireorthatyourtelephonesystemrequiresby
setting the TONE/PULSEswitch.
TONE-The setwill operateusing tone dialing.
PULSE -The setwill dialusing rotarydialtype pulses(clicking sounds).
If you are notsure ofyour dialing system,makeatrialcall withthe switchsettoTONE.
If the call connects,leavethe switchasitis;otherwise,setittoPULSE.
NOTE: Tousecaller IDservice,you will probablyneed TONEdialing.
Even when yourphone issettopulseservice,thisphone can be switched totemporary
toneforaccesstoservicesthatrequiretonesignalingincludingTelephoneBanking.

MAKINGACALL

1.Enter theoutside line access digit(e.g., 9).

Tocheck the stored number
Whilethe phoneisnotinuse,press the desired one-touchspeed dialbutton,or press
the AUTObuttonand the desired two-touchmemorynumber (0 to9).Thestored number
appearsinthe displayfor 3seconds.
Tochange astored number
Juststore anewnumber,asdescribedabove,the oldnumberwillbeerased automatically.

Caller IDallowsthe caller sphone number tobe showninthe displaybetween the first
and the second ring ofthe call,alsoinmostcases,the caller sname,and calling time
and date.Thisinformation will be stored automatically.
Inorder tousethisfeature,you mustfirstsubscribe toCallerIDservice.
Tousethe call back feature,be sure toenter your area code (see pages5&6),and
press the CALL BACKbutton for correctdigits.
WhenYou ReceivedaCall
Thephonenumber appearsinthedisplaywiththedateand
timeasshowninthe examplehere.
If your Caller IDserviceincludesthe caller sname,the caller s
namealsoappearsinthe display(up to15 letters),aswell as
time&dateofthe call (thisvariesbyregion).

1.If the message issentbythe telephonecompanywhichisprecededbyaring,thedisplay
will show “MESSAGEWAITING”andthemessagewaitingsymbol will appearinthe
displayandflash.
2.Afteryou haveretrieved your message(s),the telephone companywill send aclear
signal(byaring) toyour phone.The messagewaiting symbol will turnoff, and
