TipsonBatteryUse
Reversingpolaritieswilldamagethe batteriesand possibly
your REMOTE. Be sure to follow polarity “+ ”and “–”as indicated.
Do not mix differenttypes of batteries together (Alkaline,
Carbon-Zinc,Nickel-Cadmium etc.),or oldbatterieswithnew
ones.
Whennotinusefor anextendedperiodoftime (over30
days),remove thebatteriestoprevent possibleacidleakage
or corrosion resulting in possible damage to your REMOTE
CONTROL.
Whenthe batteries have becomedischarged, they must be
disposedof inasafemanner thatcomplieswith allapplicable
laws.

Connectthe suppliedspeaker system bymatching the colorsof theterminalstothoseofthe cords.Thespeaker wires andconnectors
arecolor-coded for easier setup.
Tips for connecting the speaker wires
Unwind and stretch out the speaker wires attached with each speakers, then push and hold down the set terminal tab on the back of the
main set to insert each wire. Make sure the wire is fully inserted, but the insulation is not covering the inserted part of the speaker wires.
NOTE: Besuretomatch thespeaker wireto theappropriateterminalonthe back ofthemainset:(+)to (+)(color), and(–)to (–)(black).
If the wires arereversed, thesound will bedistortedand will lacksometones.Followthe colorcodesofeach of theterminals.

The4satellitespeakers andthecenterspeakershouldbeplacedapproximatelythesamedistance from your
listening position.
Thecenter speaker shouldbeplaceddirectly above(or below)theTVset.Theleft andright frontspeakers
should beapproximately atthesameheightasthecenterspeaker.
Therear speakersshouldbeeitherinlinewith,or behindyour listeningposition,approximatelyatear level,or
slightlyabove.
Thesubwoofer (main set)should beonthe floorneartheTV,or inanycorner,butrememberyouneedaclear
path toyourremote (don’tblockthisset withacurtain).
Allspeakersmustbevisible.Donothidethembehind curtains, furniture,etc,asthiswillaffectthesound.
Youmay onlyplacethecenterspeaker(bluewire)orthefrontspeakers (redwires) near orabovetheTVset
becausethesespeakersaremagnetically shielded.
Wehaveprovided onekeyholeopening onthebacksofall thesatellitespeakersthatallowthesatellitespeakers
tobewallmountedinavertical position.
Proper positioningandplacementofthe speakersandthesubwoofer areimportant toprovidethebestsurroundsoundexperience,
for optimal listeningexperience,position them asbelow.
NOTE: Youmay onlyplacetheCENTER speaker (blue wire)or theFRONT speakers (red wires) on ornearyour TVsetor
computer monitor. Thesespeakers have magnetic shielding inside. If you putthe REAR speakers near your TV setor
computer monitor,the colorson your TVorcomputermonitormay changeduetomagnetism.
Toavoid short-circuitingthespeakers
Make sure thestrippedend ofeach speakerwire doesnottouchanotherspeaker terminalorthe strippedend ofanotherspeaker wire.
Examples of poor connection of the speaker wires

NOTE: Iflongerwires are needed,you may buyanygoodquality speakerwire andsplicethewires yourself.Pleasemakesurethe
wires are notshortingtoeachother and observethecorrect color polarity.Many speaker wires haveadottedline or solid line
orraisedribon onesidetoidentifyeachside. Also make sureyouuseelectricaltapeto coveryoursplices.

switch onthebackofthemainset to ON position,thesystem entersSTANDBYmode andthe ON/STANDBY indicator willflash
inred.Thisplugispolarized, ifitdoesnot fityouroutlet,donotforceit,reverseitandre-insertit.
2Pressthe ON/STANDBY buttononthefrontofthemainsetorontheREMOTECONTROLtoturnthesystemonandthe
ON/STANDBY indicator willbe steadilyoningreen.
NOTE: The ON/STANDBY indicatorhas 3modes: flashing in red andin green, and steadily on in green (slow flashing in red
indicates the set is in standby mode; Flashing in green indicates confirming you pressed any button on the main set or on the
remotecontrol and steadily on in green indicates the set is on). When the set is on, pressing the ON/STANDBY button on the
main set or on the REMOTE CONTROL will turn the set to the standby mode, the indicator will become slow flashing in red.
3Press the SOURCE button on the front panel of the main set or on the REMOTE CONTROL repeatedly to select your desired audio
input sources and the sound will be heard from the HOME THEATER SYSTEM.
4For SUBWOOFER’svolume adjustment, press the SUBWOOFER volume control buttons on the Remote control:
+raises thevolume, andthe ON/STANDBY indicator willflash ingreen, butat itsmaximum level,the ON/STANDBY indicator will
stopflashing.
–lowersthevolume, andthe ON/STANDBY indicator willflash ingreen, butat itsminimum level,the ON/STANDBY indicator will
stopflashing.
Follow this step toadjust theFRONT,CENTERandREAR speakersaswell.
5For MASTER’svolume adjustment(changeallthe speaker’svolumeatthesametime), pressthe VOLUME+ or VOLUME –
button on the mainsetor theMASTERVOLUMEcontrol or onthe remotecontrol.

the MUTE button againorpressthe MASTER VOLUME buttonsto restore thesound andthe ON/STANDBY indicator willstop
flashingandbe steadilyon ingreen.
8Toselect the listening mode, press the CHANNELS button on the REMOTE CONTROL.
NOTE: Thefactory’sdefault inputsource isDVD with5.1channelsound output.When thesetisturnedtoON,thesound will
come out of 5 speakers plus the subwoofer. To change 5.1 channel to 2.1 channel output, press the CHANNELS button. The
soundwillcomeoutofonly2frontspeakersplus thesubwoofer,thecenterand rear speaker volumecontrolswill,of
course,not work.
NOTE 2: Flip the POWER switch on the back of the main set to OFF position if the set will not be used for along period of time
(several days or more). Remember to flip it back ON again before use.
About fuse replacement.
NOTE: Before attempting to change the fuse, the system must be unplugged from the wall outlet.
Inthe unusualeventthatnothinglightsupandnosound,yourfusemay haveblown.Tocheckfor ablown fuse,followthestepsbelow.
1. Openthefuse cover(on thebackof
the main set) by using aflat blade
screwdriver tounscrewthe fuse
cover cap.
2. Examine thefuse.If awire
shows, thefuseisgood.
3. Ifthewire isbrokeninthemiddle,
replacewitha1.25AL 250V “T”type
glassfuse.

Distortedsound.
1.Check thatthe speakers and components areconnected securely and
correctly,makesurethestrippedendofeachspeaker wires does nottouch
eachother toavoidshort-circuitof thespeaker wires (seePages7&8).Also
checkspeaker volume(seePages 11&12).
2.Make sure your source(DVDor other) ispluggedinandoperating.Also
checkthatcomponent’sbooklet, maybe youneedadjustthatcomponent.
3.Check and make sure your DVD’ssound output is set to analog. For some DVDs,
if the sound output is not set to analog, the audio cables may not be active and
therewillbe nosoundoutput.
4. Make sure that you have selected thecorrectsource onthe system (DVD or other
source,accordingtowhichaudioinput jacksare connected).
5.Adjustthe set’sMASTER volume or the SUBWOOFER’svolume settings on the front
of the HOME THEATER or on the remote,also adjust the volume of theinput source.
6.EnsuretheMUTE button isnot pressedon theHOMETHEATER remote(If
yes,presstheMUTEbuttonagain).
7.The audio or speaker connecting wires are damaged. Replace themwith new ones.
TheREMOTECONTROLunitdoesnot
work.
Thesystem does not operate properly. Double checkifinput &outputjacks wereinsertedproperly.Alsoaskafriendto
helpyoubeforecallingcustomerservice.
1.Make suretheCenter speaker’svolumeis setto anormal level (see Page 11).
