Important Information
1. General
1.1 Note on Conformity
This product has been designed and produced
according to the directive 98/37/EC
under the European Union and has undergone
conformity testing and has been found to
adhere to all requirements covered by these
directives.
1.2 General Notes
• These Installation and Operating Instructions
form an integral part of the unit. They must be
kept close to the unit at all times. Precise obser-
vance of these instructions is a precondition for
use of the unit for the intended purpose and for
its correct operation.
New personnel must be made aware of the
contents, and they should be passed on to
future operating staff.
• Safety for the operator as well as trouble-free
operation of the unit are only ensured if use is
made of original equipment parts. Only acces-
sories which are expressly mentioned in the
Installation and Operating Instructions may be
connected or those recommended explicitly by
Dürr Dental. If other accessories are used with
this appliance, Dürr Dental cannot guarantee
safe operation or proper functioning. No liability
on the part of the manufacturer will be accepted
in the case that damage arises through the use
of non/approved accessories.
• Dürr Dental are only responsible for the equip-
ment with regard to safety, reliability and pro-
per functioning where assembly, resettings,
changes or modifications, extensions and
repairs have been carried out by Dürr Dental
or an agency authorized by Dürr Dental and if
the equipment is used in conformity with the
Installation and Operating Instructions.
• These Installation and Operating Instructions
conform to the relevant version of the equip-
ment and the underlying safety standards va-
lid at the time of going to press. All switches,
processes, trade marks, software programs
and appliances named in this document are
registered names.
• The translation of these Installation and
Operating Instructions has been carried out
in good faith. No liability can be accepted
for mistakes in the translation. The enclosed
German version of these Installation and Ope-
rating Instructions is the reference version. If
there is any doubt about the translation please
consult your dealer.
• Any reprinting of the technical documentation,
in whole or in part, is subject to prior approval
of Dürr Dental being given in writing.
• Retain the packaging for possible return of the
product to the manufacturers. Ensure that
the packaging is kept out of the reach of
children. Only the original packaging provides
adequate protection during transport of the
unit.
Should return of the product to the manuf-
acturers be necessary during the guarantee
period, Dürr Dental accepts no responsibility
for damage occurring during transport where
the original packaging was not used!
1.3 Appliance Disposal
The EU Directive 2002/96/EG - WEEE (Waste
Electric and Electronic Equipment) of 27th Janu-
ary 2003 and its current version in national law
states that dental products are covered by this
directive and, within the European Union, must
be disposed of as special waste.
If you have any questions regarding the correct
disposal of this product please contact Dürr
Dental or your usual dental supplier who will be
happy to help.
1.4 Correct Usage
The Dürr Hygocare Sensor has been designed
as an automatic, no-touch dispenser for Dürr
HD 410 Hand disinfection and Dürr HD 435
Hand washing Lotion.
1.5 Incorrect Usage
Any use of this appliance/these appliances
above and beyond that laid down in the Instal-
lation and Operating Instructions is deemed to
be incorrect usage. The manufacturer cannot
be held liable for any damage resulting from
incorrect usage. The operator will be held liable
and bears all risks.
This appliance must not be used in
Operating Rooms.

2. Safety
2.1 General Safety Notes
This appliance has been so designed and deve-
loped by Dürr Dental that under correct usage
that there can be no danger to operator or
patient. In spite of this, we feel it is our duty to
mention the following safety measures in order
to prevent any possible danger.
• When using this appliance all local and rele-
vant regulations must be observed!
Converting or modifying the appliance in
any way is strictly prohibited. In such cases,
any and all guarantees immediately become
invalid. The operation of modified appliances
can be punishable by law. In the interests of
trouble-free operation the operator is respon-
sible for observing these regulations.
• Installation must be carried out by suitably
qualified personnel.
• Before every use the operator must check
the functional safety and the condition of the
appliance.
• The operator must be knowledgeable in the
operation of the appliance.
• The product is not designed to be used in
medical treatment areas where there exists
the danger of explosion. Areas where explo-
sions could occur are those where flammable
anesthetic material, skin cleansers, oxygen
and skin disinfectants are present. This
appliance is not to be used in areas where the
atmosphere could cause fire.

4. Installation
Choose a suitable position for the Hygocare
Sensor.
The Hygocare should ideally be set up
with its opening nozzle located over the
wash basin. The Hygocare should not
be exposed to direct light beams.
Do not install in a position where the
sensor could be externally influenced.

4.1 Integration into worktop or wash-
basin
• If a drilled hole is available, use this, otherwise
bore a hole into worktop or wash basin. See
fig. 1
The hole requires a diameter of min. 8.5
mm and max. 34 mm.
• Place the sealing ring between Hygocare and
drilled hole. See fig. 1
• Place the Hygocare over the hole. See fig. 2
• Secure the Hygocare onto the work top or
wash basin using the mounting set. See fig. 2
Use the mounting plate supplied to
secure to worktop or work surface.
Use the washer supplied when securing
to the wash basin.

4.2 Wall installation
• Mark the position for mounting holes using the
mounting plate supplied.
• Drill holes and place dowels in position.
• Secure the wall mounting bracket to the wall
using the screws supplied.
• Place the sealing ring between wall mounting
bracket and Hygocare. See fig. 3
• Place the Hygocare over the holes.
• Secure the Hygocare from below onto the wall
mounting bracket with the mounting screw.
• Tighten the securing screw.
4.3 Installation of table-top model with
stand
• Place the sealing ring between Hygocare
Sensor and the stand. See fig. 4
• Position the Hygocare onto its foot pedestal
mount.
• Fit the Hygocare onto stand using the secu-
ring screw and the mounting screw.

5. First use
Before using the Hygocare Sensor for the first
time, check that it is positioned and set up
correctly.
• Securely fasten the disposable pump onto the
bottle with fluid. See fig. 5
• Turn the bottle with its pump upside down and
slide into the dispenser head. See fig. 6
This must be completely placed into the
dispenser.
• Connect the 9V battery and place cover onto
unit. See fig. 7
• Activate the sensor by moving a hand under the
Hygocare Sensor until the pump has drawn up
an amount of the fluid (approx. 5 to 10 times).

8. Disinfection and cleaning
• Clean and disinfect the Hygocare Sensor
using a surface disinfectant, e.g. Dürr Surface
Disinfectant
FD 322.
• Wipe the Hygocare Sensor with a damp cloth
and then dry using a soft dry cloth.
Do not use abrasive agents. Do not rinse
under running water.The inside of the
Hygocare Sensor must not be cleaned or
disinfected.
9. Disposal
Disposal of the unit is covered by EU-Directive,
see under section 1.3 Appliance Disposal.
Dispose of the battery according to local rules
and regulations.
Operation
6. Instructions for use
Once the Hygocare Sensor has been installed and
correctly connected it is ready for use. Each time
the Hygocare Sensor is activated it releases ap-
prox. 1 ml of preparation. If more fluid is required
then activate the Hygocare Sensor more often.
Move the hand away from the Hygocare Sensor
completely and then move it back towards the
unit.
Avoid splashing. Do not let
any water or fluid enter the plum-
bing. This could damage the electro-
nic parts of the Hygocare.
7. Changing the fluid bottles
7.1 Before changing the fluid bottle:
• Disconnect the Hygocare from the battery to
avoid accidental release of liquid.
7.2 Changing the bottles
• Only use Dürr HD 410 Hand disinfection
(order number: CDH410C3502) and Dürr HD
435 Hand washing lotion
(order number: CCH435C3502).
• Remove the empty bottle of fluid from the
Hygocare.
The empty bottle and the disposable
pump can be disposed of using the
local recycling system.
• Place the disposable pump securely onto the
liquid bottle.
• Turn the bottle of cleaning fluid with its pump
upside down and slide into the dispenser
head.
• Activate the sensor by moving a hand under
the Hygocare Sensor until the pump has
drawn up an amount of the fluid (approx. 5 to
10 times).
