STEP 1:
Decide if inst ll will be VERTICAL
pol rity or HORIZONTAL pol rity.
STEP 2:
Decide if UPTILT or DOWNTILT
is going to be required for the p rticul r
inst ll tion. Br cket will be tt ched to
b ck of ntenn to provide uptilt or down-
tilt by rot ting the br cket inst ll orient -
tion 180°.
DANGER! Avoid Powerlines!
You Can Be Killed!
When following the instructions in this guide to inst ll the EZ2 t ke ex-
treme c re to void cont ct with overhe d power lines, lights nd power
circuits. Cont ct with power lines, lights or power circuits m y be f t l.
We recommend to inst ll EZ2 no closer th n 20 feet to ny power lines.
Safe y:
For your own protection, follow these s fety rules.
▫ Perform as many func ions as possible on he ground
▫ Do no a emp o ins all he an enna on a rainy, windy or
snowy day or if here is ice or snow accumula ion a he ins all
si e or if he si e is we .
▫ Make sure here are no people, pe s, e c. below when you are
working on a roof or ladder.
▫ Wa ch ou for any power lines which may be overhead, under-
ground or behind walls., keeping safely clear of hem wi h he
an enna, ladders or any ools.
▫ See appendix for FCC RF exposure guidelines
Recommended Tools: Pliers, Adjust ble Wrench, Screws for
mounting W ll Mount Br cket, Drill or Screwdriver for inst lling
w ll mount br cket, se l nt for se ling ny holes. NOTE: You
should be f mili r with using tools such s these before ttempting in-
st ll tion of EZ2. You should be comfort ble with working on l dder.
GROUNDING: Local building and elec rical codes require ha
he an enna be properly grounded. Improper ins alla ion may seri-
ously damage he equipmen or building, as well as cause injury
or dea h o you. Run a ground wire 10AWG or bigger from back of
an enna o a good ear h ground (Cold wa er pipe or me al s ake in
ground).

3
STEP 3:
Choose mounting loc tion with good line of sight to the re-
mote loc tion. The ntenn c n be mounted to n existing pole up to 2”
di meter. If only short dist nces re needed, the ntenn c n be
mounted inside building. Inst ll the ntenn s.
TECH TIP: Microwaves trave in straight ines and they ose
strength quick y when going thru bui dings and trees. If there are
objects in the microwave path, then useab e distance wi be reduced. If
the target unit is ess than 1 mi e away then you won’t have to worry too
much about a coup e obstructions but if over 1 mi e and there are some
obstructions in the microwave path, then the performance wi be re-
duced.
STEP 4:
Inst ll the CAT5 outdoor c ble by
inserting the RJ45 connector thru the
feedthru nd into the connector on the b ck
of the ntenn . Screw the feedthru into the
ntenn connector nd tighten g inst the g s-
ket. While pushing the c ble tow rds the connec-
tor, tighten down on the feedthru c ble cl mp.
STEP 5:
Route CAT5 c ble from the EZ2 into the building. Alw ys
cre te drip loop ne r the ntenn so the c ble is not pulling on the
ntenn nd ny w ter running down the c ble isn’t going directly into
the unit. Do this by cre ting sl ck in the c ble nd tie wr pping the c -
ble to the pole or mount. Alw ys se l ny holes in w lls or roofs prop-
erly to prevent w ter ingress. The Ethernet spec llows for m ximum
c ble length of 100 meters or bout 328 feet.
STEP 6: Aim the ntenn nd tighten the br ckets securely. There is
n ntenn lignment utility in the softw re to help with proper lign-
ment of the ntenn .
TECH TIP: Because of the specia y designed wide beamwidth an-
tenna, pointing is not critica and simp y pointing in the genera di-
rection of the receiving antenna wi yie d great resu ts.
STEP 7: Inst ll the RJ45 connector on the POE Inserter to
the router, switch or computer. Att ch the CAT5 c ble
from the ntenn to the RJ45 output port of the POE In-
serter. Insert power supply DC plug to the POE Inserter
DC J ck. Plug in the power supply to n surge protected
AC power source to power up the EZ2

Software Settings
1. There is n HTML m n gement system built into every EZ2 unit
which is ccessed thru st nd rd web browser. The unit c n communi-
c te thru the CAT5 ethernet c ble connection or thru the wireless con-
nection, so you c n m n ge remote units from single loc tion.
2. IP ADDRESS: Def ult IP ddress for the EZ2 is 192.168.1.1. To c-
cess the EZ2 your computer IP ddress must be on the s me subnet ie;
192.168.1.xxx.
TECH TIP: Downlo d the EZ2 Discovery Tool from http://www.e-
zy.net/support/2plus/Utility/ . This tool will ssist you in finding the
EZ2 on the network nd llow you to ch nge the EZ2 IP ddress or set
it s DHCP client. Just select the unit, click on IP DETAILS, m ke
selections nd s ve ch nges directly to the device.
3. SECURITY: The following security ch nges re recommended :
a. PASSWORD: Ch nge the user n me nd p ssword on the
EZ2 by going to SYSTEM | PASSWORDS nd setting the first
user n me nd p ssword. The defau t is no user name or pass-
word for ease of system setup
b. ENCRYPTION: Set n encryption type nd key. We recom-
mend WPA2 bec use it is most secure, but if this inst ll is s
client the encryption type nd key must m tch the Access
Point.
6. SITE SURVEY: The site survey is very useful tool to determine
wh t wireless devices re within r nge of your
EZ2 nd could be
source of interference th t could c use degr ded perform nce. Go to
WIRELESS nd then click on SITE SURVEY then REFRESH. The list
will show ll wireless devices including ch nnel #, MAC Address nd
rel tive sign l strength of ll the devices within the r nge of the EZ2
7. FACTORY DEFAULTS: If t ny time the system stops working be-
c use of ch nges m de to the settings, you c n get b ck to the origin l
settings by resetting to f ctory def ults. Go to ADMIN | SAVE/RELOAD
SETTINGS, then Reset Settings To Def ult. Any customized settings
will be lost once this process is initi ted.
8. UPGRADE FIRMWARE: For the l test firmw re point your browser
t http://www.e-zy.net/support/2plus/Firmw re/ . Downlo d the l test
firmw re to your PC. Select UPGRADE from the menu nd then browse

Additional Information you may find useful
1. RAIN, SNOW, ICE – The 2.4GHz frequency being used by the EZ2
will not be ffected by he vy r in or f lling snow. You should not see
ny perform nce degr d tion due to inclement we ther. If snow or ice
collects on the front of the ntenn , you m y see some reduced per-
form nce ssuming you re shooting long dist nce ( >3miles) nd the
ice or snow buildup is gre ter th n 1” thick on the surf ce of the n-
tenn . For this re son, we suggest mounting under n e ve of house
if fe sible for your p rticul r situ tion.
2.SUN AND HEAT– The EZ2 is constructed of ll UV protected m teri-
ls so it will survive for m ny ye rs in the most extreme of sol r envi-
ronments (ie; n Arizon rooftop during the summer). The unit h s been
tested nd qu lified for const nt oper tion t over 122 deg F mbient
temper ture. Even though the EZ2 is designed for long term surviv bil-
ity in extreme environments, we would still recommend th t the unit be
mounted in more protected loc tion, like under roof eve, if possible.
Of course if line of sight is better with the ntenn mounted in non-
protected environment then we would recommend the better line of
sight mounting loc tion.
3.LIGHTNING – Lightning is the single worst enemy of outdoor elec-
tronics equipment. No electronics will survive direct strike but there
re close proximity strikes th t c n c use huge electric l fields to be

6
gener ted which c n d m ge electronic equipment. We h ve t ken
speci l c re in the design of the EZ2 unit to ensure proper grounding of
the electronics inside the enclosure to prevent d m ge from electric l
storms. M ke sure th t the POE Power Supply is plugged into surge
protected outlet such s surge protected power strip or UPS inside
the house.
5.PAINTING – The EZ2 unit c n be p inted to m tch p rticul r house
color. Only non met llic en mel or l tex p ints should be used. If
p int with met l content is used, it will block the microw ves nd c use
reduced perform nce.
