Floor Lamp Assembly

ASSEMBLY
1. Place the base on the floor and gently pull the power cord at the base until the
lower pole (8) can screw onto the base (9).
2. Screw the middle pole (7) onto the lower pole (8), pulling the power cord
through the base if necessary.
3. Screw the upper pole (6) onto the middle pole (7), pulling the power cord
through the base if necessary.
4. Unscrew the lampshade ring (2) from the light bulb receptacle cover (4).
NOTE: The lampshade ring is already screwed onto the lampshade receptacle
cover and needs to be unscrewed.
5. Remove the plastic covering on the lampshade (3).
6. Place the lampshade (3) onto the light bulb receptacle cover (4), and screw
the lampshade ring (2) over it. Tighten it securely to hold the lampshade in
place.
7. Screw the light bulb (1) into the light bulb receptacle. Plug the lamp into a wall
outlet and turn the switch to turn it on.
DO NOT USE ANY ABRASIVE MATERIAL TO CLEAN THE SURFACE
DO NOT IMMERSE THE BASE INTO WATER AT ANY TIME

HELPFUL HINTS
Untangling the confusion about light bulbs!
In the past we only had incandescent bulbs. If you needed a 40W you went to the
store and bought one. Now with the introduction of energy efficient bulbs the
wattage does not work the same way. Now you buy by the LUMENS you want. For
example, a 40W bulb gives off 450 lumens. If you want to purchase a CFL bulb
that gives off the same light as the 40W bulb you would pick a CFL bulb that has a
wattage between 9 and 11 watts. If you want to purchase an LED bulb that gives
off the same light as the 40W bulb you would pick an LED bulb that has a wattage
between 6 and 9 watts. If you want a brighter light and your lamp is rated for
40W, then you may choose one of the alternative bulbs (CFL or LED) that has a
wattage that is higher. Please see below:

GENERAL INFORMATION
When using the Floor Lamp, basic safety precautions should be observed. PLEASE
READ AND SAVE ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE Floor Lamp.
1. To avoid possible electrocution, do not operate this lamp near a water source.
2. For indoor use only.
3. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
4. You may use up to a 40W incandescent light bulb. An 18W CFL bulb or 13.5W
LED bulb is recommended.
5. Always turn the lamp off, unplug the lamp, and allow the bulb to cool
completely before replacing the bulb or installing a new bulb.
6. Unplug the Floor Lamp from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
7. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or Floor Lamp
base in water or any other liquid.
8. Do not use in a bathroom or any other damp place.
9. It is recommended that you unplug the lamp during lightning storms or when
not in use for long periods of time.
10. Do not cut or shorten the power cord.
11. Always lift the lamp by the shaft.
12. Do not adjust shade once it is tightened.
13. Check your local regulations regarding the disposal or recycling of your CFL
bulb. The EPA recommends that consumers take advantage of available local
options for recycling rather than disposing of them in regular household trash.
Your area may require recycling of CFL bulbs. Visit search.Earth911.com to
contact your local waste collection agency if necessary which can tell you if
such a requirement exists in your state or locality.
14. Do not operate the Floor Lamp with a damaged cord or plug, or if the Floor
Lamp malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the Floor
Lamp to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or
refund.
15. Never move the Floor Lamp by pulling the cord.
16. Place the lamp on a flat surface and ensure there are no flammable materials
around it.
17. Do not use the Floor Lamp with a damaged outlet.
18. Make sure hands are dry when plugging in and unplugging the Floor Lamp.
19. Do not use this Floor Lamp for other than intended use.
20. This Floor Lamp is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
the use of the Floor Lamp by a person responsible for their safety.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions
listed below may result in electric shock, fire or serious personal injury. The warnings,
cautions, and instruction discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible
conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that
common sense and caution are a factor which cannot be built into this product, but
must be supplied by the operator.
CAUTION: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury
resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords
are available from local hardware stores and may be used if care is exercised in their
use. If an extension cord is required, special care and caution is necessary. Also the
cord must be: (1) marked with an electrical rating of 125V, and at least 13 A., 1625 W.,
and (2) the cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or
tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
POLARIZED PLUG
NOTE: This Floor Lamp has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other).
As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a
polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.
If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this
safety feature.
ELECTRIC POWER
If electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliances may not operate
properly. The appliances should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other
operating appliances.
SAFETY WARNING
Although your Floor Lamp is easy to operate, for your safety, the warnings below must
be followed:
1. Do not place the Floor Lamp near a heat source.
2. Never leave the Floor Lamp unattended while connected to the electrical outlet.
3. Use the Floor Lamp on a stable work surface away from water.
4. Do not unplug from the wall socket by pulling on the supply cord.
5. The Floor Lamp must be unplugged:
A. After each use.
B. If it appears to be faulty.
C. Before cleaning or maintenance.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CAUTION:
Always be sure that the Floor Lamp is switched OFF and unplugged
before cleaning or attempting to store.
1. Use a dry dust cloth to periodically clean the lamp and shade.
2. If necessary you may use a soft damp cloth to wipe the lamp poles and
shades. Make sure the lamp is turned off and unplugged before wiping it down
with a damp cloth.
3. All moisture should be properly wiped away and dried prior to restoring power.
