Chapter 1 Overview
ED-IoTHotspot-Pi4 is a Helium Indoor Full Hotspot designed by EDATEC. By deploying it at your home or office, you
can provide your city with miles of low-power network coverage for billions of devices and earn a new
cryptocurrency, HNT.

Chapter 2 Quick Start Guide
2.1 What's in the box?
The product package should contain the following items:
⚫Indoor Full Hotspot
⚫An AC 12V@2A power adapter
⚫Wi-Fi/BT antenna marked with “2.4G/5.8G”
⚫2.5dBi LoRa antenna marked with “868MHz” or “915MHz” for different models
⚫[Optional] 5.8dBi LoRa Fiberglass Antenna (Model 868MHz / 915MHz)
⚫Ethernet cable
Standard Configuration (NOTE: Only one power plug in the box –UK / US / EU / AU Optional)
Optional 5.8dBi LoRa Fiberglass Antenna (Model 868MHz / 915MHz)

2.2 Prepare and Power up your Hotspot
1. Carefully screw in the provided Wi-Fi/BT antenna and LoRa antenna
2. Find a suitable location for your Gateway (for optimal coverage we recommend placing the unit near a
window and close to a power source).
3. If you are using ethernet connection, locate the ethernet port on the back of your gateway and securely
insert ethernet cable.
4. Power the gateway with the included power adapter.
5. Allow the unit a few seconds to power on. The status light should be WHITE indicates that it's powered up
2.3 Understand the Status Light
The status light on the front of the hotspot can help you to verify various conditions:

Powered-up
Once the hotspot is powered up, the LED will go WHITE to indicate the
system is booting up
GREEN
Connected to
P2P network
GREEN indicates the hotspot is connected to Helium network. You should
always in this state to miner HNT
BLUE
Bluetooth
Mode
Once you push the button on the front of the hotspot about 10 seconds,
The hotspot will enter Bluetooth mode to allow you Andoird / iOS phone
to connect to the hotspot
YELLOW
Disconnected
from P2P
network
YELLOW indicates the hotspot is disconnected from the P2P network.
Please check you network settings or login to the Dashboard for more
information
PURPLE
OTA
PURPLE indicates a new OTA is available and the hotspot is installing it
RED
Error
RED indicates some errors occurs, maybe an OTA failed and miner
software run into issues. Please login into the Dashboard for more
information or perform a reset

2.4 Install Helium Hotspot App
The Helium app (available for iOS and Android) includes everything you need to on-board and maintain
your Hotspot and view its activity. With the app, which also is your Helium wallet, you're able to do things
like:
⚫Send and receive HNT and create Data Credits
⚫Add your Hotspot to the network and set your location
⚫Configure your Wi-Fi
⚫View your Hotspot's activity
⚫See where other Hotspots are located
⚫Run Discovery Mode
Scan the below QR code to install the Helium Hotspot App, or search ‘Helium Hotspot’ on Google Play / App
Store.

⚫Hotspot App for Android on the Google Play Store
◼Or if you don't use Google Play, you can download an APK from the official AppCenter build.

2.5 Helium Wallet Account Security
If this is your first time setup of your Helium wallet, you will be asked to input a seed phrase. It is a sequence of 12
words used to recover or transfer your accounts between phones.
NOTE:
It is important to remember these 12 words.
2.6 On-board your Hotspot and Set Location
Once you have set up your Helium wallet, press the key on the front of your hotspot for about 10 seconds,
and then follow the on-screen instructions:
