1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

ENERGY BY NATURE
iDo not install RADIASOL in the shade
or in poorly exposed areas making sure
that they are properly lted.
CAUTION: EDN shall not be liable in
any way for any damages and injuries
occurring to users, operators, third pares,
animals and objects that may be caused by
any improper use or modicaons of the
exchangers, as well as by the installaon
of non-original components.
iTampering or removing the marking
label will void any warranty cover for
the product.
2.1 Usage requirements
To make an analysis of the water before installing
RADIASOL (see chap. 8 Warranty).
To get the best prots, point the exchanger southward
(or northward, if the installaon zone is in the Southern
Hemisphere) applying a lt angle between 30° and 40°.
A dierent orientaon and lt angle may cause heat
rate variaons.
Please specify the data shown on your product label
every me you ask for assistance.
2. GENERAL INFORMATION BEFORE THE INSTALLATION
2.2 Marking data
A label placed on one side idenes RADIASOL models.
RADIASOL equipped with thermo-re-
gulated resistance and anfreeze kit
(oponal) can also be used in clima-
c areas with low temperature be-
low -10°C. EDN always recommends
to properly insulang the external
connecon pipes.
see the drawing on the opposite page
2.3 Recycling and disposal
RADIASOL is built with recyclable materials (glass-stain-
less steel-aluminum). At the end of the installaon, it
need to remove the protecve lm of the frame.

3.1 Safety regulaons
The non-compliance of safety regulaons may cause
serious damages and may have fatal consequences.
EDN recommends that the installaon operaons are
carried out only by qualied and experienced profes-
sionals who shall also be required to issue the related
installaon compliance cercaon (see Regulaons
Table).
CAUTION. Danger of burns. Both before
and during the installaon, make sure
that the exchanger ‘glass surface is co-
vered with re-resistant and non-tran-
sparent material to avoid overheang.
Remove the covering before acvang
the system. RADIASOL’exposure and as-
sembly materials to solar radiaons may
cause serious burns during handling ope-
raons.
Please, read carefully this secon before installing
RADIASOL.
Follow the instrucons thoroughly and make sure that
the minimum safety levels for operators are complied
with.

RADIASOL’s aluminum alloy external ca-
sing, should not be in direct contact with
metals of dierent potenal (I.e. copper),
to avoid galvanic corrosion and puncture.

ENERGY BY NATURE
CAUTION. Never leave RADIASOL
exposed to the sun without water. If the
exchanger needs to be le empty, make
sure it is protected by a re-resistant and
non-transparent cover.
CAUTION. It is compulsory to install a
thermostac mixer valve downstream of
the connector (hot water outlet) to avoid
users to get burned and to opmise the
exchanger’s performance.
CAUTION. EDN recommends installing
RADIASOL in limited access areas. The
surfaces’ high temperatures and the
safety valve’s sudden opening may cause
serious injuries. Please keep in mind that,
in case of ground installaon, the area
should fenced o.
RADIASOL must be installed on suitable
bolsters designed by a structural engineer,
and equipped to support the exchanger’s
gross weight (see Technical Informaon).
Snow, wind and seismic acon must be
calculated according to the place chosen
for the installaon and in compliance with
the naonal laws.
The frame anchoring inserts (not
included) must be suitable for the surface
type and the bolsters’ material.
CAUTION. Central heang installaon
and operaon must comply with appli-
cable local laws and regulaons.
CAUTION: Before installaon, please
store the packaged equipment in a
dry place, and on a steady ground or
shelving.

3. SAFETY REGULATIONS

ENERGY BY NATURE
It’s necessary to always direct the safety
valve drain in order to avoid serious
burns and damages because of the
sudden high temperature water runo.
4. HYDRAULIC CONNECTION
RADIASOL casing, in aluminum alloy,
should not be in direct contact with metal
of dierent potenal (ex. Copper) to avoid
galvanic corrosion and the drilling of the
same.
For the hydraulic connecon, use
pipes suitable for connuing operang
temperatures higher than 100°C.
EDN recommends using properly insula-
ted tubes and external ngs (low and
return), to avoid heat dispersion and
freezing in winter. In areas where tem-
perature may drop below -10°C, heang
cable and anfreeze valve (oponal)
must be used on external piping.
During the hydraulic connecon, it’s
necessary to cover the Exchanger to
avoid overheang. Discover RADIASOL
aer the installaon.
Always provide the system with a
thermostac mixing valve to prevent
serious burns.
RADIASOL must be installed vercally.
The following components are required for correct working of the system and the validity of the warranty (see pa-
ragraph 8):
1. Safety valve;
2. Check valve (cold water inlet before the expansion vessel);
3. Expansion vessel (it can be installed in cold water inlet or aer the non-return valve or in hot water output aer
the safety valve).

The absence of the check valve (it is
required by regulaons) may cause
damages to RADIASOL for system
decompression.

5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Users should arrange for a qualied technician to set up
a two-pole socket with ground, to be posioned aer
a key-operated disconnecng switch (or equivalent
disconnecon system). Power voltage = 230 V. All
the components should be marked CE (or equivalent
standard applicable in country where the exchanger
is installed), should comply with applicable laws and
should be properly installed and connected. The power
supply line must be protected with a dierenal relay
to stop the power supply in case of electrical contact to
the ground of the power supply system.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
BROWN: phase
BLUE: neutral
YELLOW AND GREEN: ground
CAUTION: the resistance has to be inserted inside the exchanger in the right slot through the lower cable
gland. Do not forget to check the close ng of the top cable gland, to avoid water seepage, which could
create irremediable damages to RADIASOL
Insert the resistance with the black
part containing the thermostat inside
the cable gland leaving out just the
red-sheathed end.

RED-SHEATHED GUIDE
RADIASOL must not be installed if the
energy power supply system is not
compliant with the above-menoned
requirements and with the applicable
laws and regulaons.
DANGER. Connecng the exchanger with
dierent voltages from those specied
may cause the operator’s death or
damages to the system.
DANGER. The frame must always be
connected to the ground line.
DANGER. When replacing the resistance,
RADIASOL must be disconnected from
the electric power line.

6. INSTALLATION SCHEMES (open and forced circulaon circuits)
The absence or the ineciency of the check valve (compulsory for regulaons)
must cause damages to RADIASOL for decompression of the system.
EDN recommends periodic controls of the non-return valve and its replacement
every 2 years.
RADIASOL’ thermal power can be eecvely used in all seasons both to produce domesc hot water and to heat.
RADIASOL, thanks to its eciency, works with reduced solar surfaces compared to tradional solar thermal systems.
RADIASOL, equipped with thermoregulang resistance and heang cable for the external pipes, can be used without
an-freeze devices even in forced circulaon systems respecng the environment.
