WHY THE SWITCH FROM V2 TO V3
Updated hardware keeps in lined with enhanced Payment Card
Industry (PCI) security standards which is imperative to help customers
combat card-present counterfeit card fraud.
By upgrading your equipment, you will:
• Reduce risk of costly data breaches
• Maintain PCI compliance – This is a mandatory requirement for all
customers
• Offer more ways for consumers to pay with their preferred payment
methods

KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE
One important aspect of the switch is that V2 equipment is not compatible
with V3 equipment. For example, if a V2 PIN Pad is connected to a V3 iCT
device or vice versa, the terminal will display “PIN PAD OUT OF ORDER.”
There are multiple ways in determining a V2 device from a V3.
Color Display Terminals
For color display terminals, the small lock graphic on the screen will be
different colors. Yellow for V2 and blue for V3.

Black and White Display Terminals
For black and white display terminals, the lock graphic is again involved
but the change is in the number displayed next to it. #1 for a V2 terminal
and a #3 for a V3.

Terminal Profile Displays
When a terminal or PIN pad is rebooted, the display will flash A98 for V2
devices. V3 devices will flash C98 on the display.

V3 Device Stickers
Terminal – New V3 terminals
will have an FCC sticker
attached to the bottom of the
device. At the end of each
of the FCC ID, US, and IC
codes, V3 will be printed.
PIN Pad – The C98 code
appears as a label on the
bottom of the iPP310 PIN
Pad display.

EQUIPMENT NOTES
• There is a 30-day grace period, starting on August 24th, on in-process
orders only to ship V2 equipment to a new customer.
• Swaps for existing V2 equipment will continue to be supported.
• Customers who currently process on either a iCT220 or iCT250 V2 ter-
minal will be able to add an iPP320 V2 PIN Pad, for proper compatibility,
until further notice.
