building and technical standards;
The wood stove with built-in water heater is designed for building in and
therefore the niche in which it would be built-in must be constructed of non-
combustible material.
The stove must be installed on a horizontal fireproof floor with the necessary
capacity. To protect the floor a stable fireproof pad may be used, which should
extend beyond the stove at least 50 cm in front and 30 cm aside;
Within the stove radiating area, the distance from the insulated stove to any
combustible materials /on the sides and on the rear/ must be at least 10 cm, and
the distance from the front side must be at least 90 cm; It is recommended that
the air space between the insulated stove and the niche walls is at least 10 cm.
The stove must be installed in a suitable place to allow normal ignition, loading
and maintenance;
It is recommended to operate the stove with a separate chimney. If you connect
other heating appliances in the same chimney, its draft power must be calculated
accordingly.
The chimney is intended to draw the combustion products from the stove and
discharge them in the atmosphere outside the home.
The upward draft or “pulling” of the chimney is the result of a combination of
height and temperature difference between the flue gas and the outside air. This
difference determines the lower pressure in the warm chimney and higher
external air pressure. It is not significant, but it is exactly this difference, which
creates the draft. For higher and hotter chimneys the draft is better.
Before connecting the stove to the chimney, consult a chimney specialist to
measure the draft.
Lower draft is a precondition for difficult kindling, burning and return of flue gases.
This may be caused by:
- Accumulated soot inside the chimney, which decreases its diameter
while increasing resistance for rising flue gases;
- Cracked chimney wall or a loose rosette;
- Loose flue pipes, or pipes pushed deeply into the chimney, thereby
reducing or clogging its intersection.
The connecting elements (rosette and stovepipes) must be installed
tightly and firmly to ensure hermeticity, but without interfering with the chimney
passage section. The stovepipes must be the same size as the stove extension.
- Use of a chimney with a small draft by several stoves on close levels;
- Smoking inside may occur when the weather outside is warmed
suddenly – hot gases from the ignition of the fire cannot escape through the cold
chimney. In such case use greater amount of quickly burning sticks.
- In unsealed roofs or open windows on the upper floor the effect
“staircase-chimney” creates reverse draft;
- When a chimney is located in an overpressure area caused by wind.
