WARNINGS
•Thisapplianceisdesignedtobeoperatedbyadults.

•The cooking zones heat up quickly when they are
turned on. Turnthem on only when you have placed a
saucepan onto the cooking area.
•Alwaysensurethatthecontrolknobsareinthe"OFF"
position when not in use.
•The residual heat indicator lights up to show if a
cooking zone is still hot.
•If you use an electric socket close to the hob, take
care when using an electrical appliance that the cable
does not touch the hot surface of the hob.
•Donotleaveitemsonthehobsurface.Anyitemsyou
place on the hob could be damaged if the hob is
accidentallyturnedon.
•Unstableormisshapen pansshouldnotbeused on
the hob as unstable pans can cause an accident by
tippingorspillage.
•Neverleave thehobunattendedwhenworking with
oil and fats because of the danger offire.
•Neveruseplasticoraluminiumfoildishesonthehob
surface.
•Alwayscarefullyliftsaucepansonandoffthehobto
preventaccidentcausedbyspillage.Donotslidethem
acrossthehobasthismayscratchthesurface.Ensure
saucepans and cooking utensils are large enough to
contain the food and prevent spillage.
•Alwaysremoveanyspillagesfromthesurfaceofthe
hobimmediately,donotallowspillstodryandharden.
•If you use a saucepan which is smaller than the
heated area of the hob, the handle may become hot.
Please ensure that you protect your hands before
touchingthehandle.
•NEVER cook directly on the hob surface without a
saucepan/cookingutensil.
•Sugar(solidorliquid)aswellasplasticshouldnever
getontothehotsurfaceofthehob,asthiscouldresult
in fissures and cracks appearing when the hob cools
down.Spillsofsugarormeltedplasticmaterialmustbe
removed while the hob is still warm and before the
remains have set. Scrape off the remains of sugar or
plastic with a scraper.Protect your hands.
•Useonlypanswithflatbaseswithoutrough edges,
to avoid scratching the surface of the hob.
•Adefectivehobsurfacewillallowliquidtopenetrate
ontotheelectricalconnections.Ifanycracksappearon
the hob surface, switch OFFimmediately. Isolate the
appliance from the electricity supply and inform your
local Electrolux Service Force.
•Certain food, plastic items and aerosols can be
affected by heat and should NOT be stored above or
below the hob unit.
•Under no circumstances should you attempt to
repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried out by
inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious
malfunctioning.
Refer to your local Electrolux Service Force Centre.
Always insist in genuine Electrolux spare parts.

Before using your hob
Cleanyourceramichobthouroughlybeforeitsfirstuse.
Ceramichobsaretreatedandcleanedthesamewayas
glass. When you use the ceramic hob for the first time
itcangiveoffasmellforashorttimeasthemanufacturing
deposits burn off.
This Electrolux hob may be installed into any kitchen
worktop with a depth of 600 mmor more. The worktop
must be constructed of material resistant to 100°C.

INSTALLATION
Thecutoutintheworktopshouldbetothedimensions
shown in fig.1. Before making the cut out ensure that
theedgesofthehob,thataretobeadjacenttoeithera
side or rear wall, have a minimum distance of 55 mm
between the edge of the hob and the wall (fig.5).
Whenthecutoutto theworktop iscomplete,lowerthe
hob into position to ensure that it fits.
Remove the hob from the worktop and carry out the
electricalconnectionasdescribedundertheElectrical
Connectionsection.
Checkthatthefoamsealalongtheundersideofthehob
is fitted correctly.
Refit the hob into the worktop and align correctly.
Using a Phillips screwdriver tighten the fixing clamps
ontotheundersideofworktopstartingatthecentreand
moving diagonally until all the clamps are tightened.
Do NOT overtighten.
Do NOT use Power Driven Screwdrivers.
Thedistancebetweentheundersideofthehobandthe
furniture beneath mustbe at least 20 mm (Fig.3).
Theminimumdistancecombustiblematerialoracooker
hood can be fitted directly above the hob is 650 mm
(fig.4).
The minimum distance combustible material can be
fittedabovethehobinlinewiththeedgesofthehob,is
420mm.Ifitisfittedbelow420mm,aspaceof50 mm
mustbeallowedfromtheedgesofthehobuptothelevel
of 650 mm (fig.4).
Theremustbeaclearanceof55mmfreeofcombustible
material to the side and back of the hob (fig.5).
In terms of fire protection, the appliance conforms
totypeY(IEC335-2-6).Onlyappliancesofthistype
may be installed on one side of adjacent upright
furniture housings or walls.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
WARNING: THISAPPLIANCEMUSTBEEARTHED.
Themanufacturerdeclinesanyliabilityshouldthis
safety measure not be observed.
•Ensurethattheelectriccircuitiscapableofcarrying
the load ofthe appliance.
•Switch OFF the electricity supplies at the mains.
•A double pole cooker control switch with a suitable
electricalratingshouldbeusedtocontroltheelectrical
supply to the hob.
•Thecontrolswitchshouldbeeasilyaccessibletothe
user on completion of the installation.
•The control switch mustnot break the yellow/green
earth wire at any point.
Towirethehob,carefullyplacetheunit,facedownward
on a flat surface with the control area overhanging, to
avoiddamagetothecontrolsliders.Removethescrews
securing the cover to the terminal box, remove the
coverandconnectthesupplycableviathecableclamp
(Fig.1), to the terminals provided.
•Connect the earth wire to the terminal marked with
the letter "E" or with the earth symbol or coloured
green.
•Connectthelivewiretotheterminalmarkedwiththe
letter "L" and coloured brown or red.
•Connecttheneutralwiretotheterminalmarkedwith
the letter "N" and coloured blue or black.
•Tighten the terminal screws and the cable clamp,
then refit the terminal plate cover. You mustensure
thatthe cabinet is stable and level.

889andamendment82/499relatingtothesuppression
of radio and TV interference.
Rating plate
Theratingplateissituatedon theundersideoftheunit
and gives the type and serial number as well as the
model description of the appliance (which should be
quotedinany communication).
Important:
The appliance must be connected to a cooker point,
having a double pole isolating switch with a contact
separation of at least 3 mm in all poles.

OPERATION
Cooking Zones
The hob has 4 ceramic cooking zones. All 4 cooking
zonesfeaturevariable settingswhich arerepresented
bynumberedgraduations.
Cooking Guide
1-2Gentle Tomeltbutterandchocolate,toprepare
cream sauces, stewsand milk pudding
or to fry eggs.
3-4Slow Dried vegetables, frozen food, fruit,
boiling water or milk.
5-6Medium Boiling potatoes, fresh vegetables, pa-
tes, soups, broths, pancakes or fish.
7-8High Larger stews, meat roll, fish omelettes.
9 Fast Steaks, escalopes and frying.
For successful cooking it is advisable to turn on to the
fast setting for a short while to boost the cooking zone
selected, and then turn down to the correct setting.
Halogen Cooking Zone
The halogen cooking zone is heated up very rapidly
comparedtothenormalone-circuitcookingzone.Itcan
be compared with a gas cooking zone.
Whenswitchedonthehalogenlampsimmediatelypro-
duce their full heating power.
Use the halogen heating zone to heat up food quickly.
Residual Heat Indicator
Allcookingzonesarerelatedtooneindicator.Thewar-
ning light illuminates when the surface of any cooking
zonereachesatemperaturewhichcouldcauseaburn.
The light will remain illuminated, after the heated-up
areahasbeenswitchedoff,aslongastheresidualheat
ofthecookingsurfacecancauseburns.Thelightwillgo
out when thetemperature is below 50°C.
Heat control slider
Thehobisoperatedbyfourheatcontrolsliderssituated
on the right hand side of the hob (fig.3 - pos.1). Each
is related to an indicator (fig.3 - pos.2). The symbol
(fig.3 - pos.3)indicatesthepositionoftheheatingzone
ontheceramichobandrelatestothesliderandcorres-
pondingindicator.
To begin hob operation
Eachsliderhastobeinpos."0"whenstartingthecera-
mic hob.
To switch on the ceramic hob, the top slider has to be
moved to the position marked with a key (fig.4). The
correspondingindicator shows ahorizontal line.

OPERATION
The slider must immediately be returned to the "0"
position,andthenalltheotherindicatorswillshow"0".
All the heating zones are ready for use but you must
switch your selected zone on within 5 seconds.
If this is not done, the top indicator will indicate a
flashinghorizontalline,thehobwillthen switchoff
and you will have to repeat the start-up procedure
again.
Ifanyoftheheatcontrolslidersisnotinthe"0"position,
ahorizontallineflashesinthecorrespondingindicator
and the appliance can notbe turned on (fig.5).
Switching on the two-circuit zone
The rear left cooking zone gives the possibility of an
inner and outersection ofthe heater.
To use the inner section (fig.6), push the slider to the
desiredpower level.
To use both the inner and outer sections (fig.7), push
theslidertothepositionindicatedby thedoublecircle.
Thefigure8withadotbyitwillbeshown,itwillnowbe
possible to control both sections with the slider.
To cancel the outer section,return the slider to the "0"
position and then select a power level with the slider,
this will operate only the inner section (fig.6).
Warming zone "L"
If you position the slider slightly above "0", an "L"
appears
(fig.9). Now the corresponding cooking zone
can be used as a warming zone.
Special hints:
Child-proof lock
Ifallpowerdisplays show a "0",one cooking zonehas
to be switched on within 5 seconds. Otherwise, the
electronic device turns off the ceramic hob.
Safety turn-off
Ifonecookingzoneremainsoninadvertently,theelec-
tronical device switches it off automatically after 6
hours. The electronic device turns off the complete
ceramic hob afterswitching off the lastcooking zone.
Switching off the cooking zone
Ifallslidersareinpos."0",theelectronicdeviceturnsoff
the hob within 5 seconds.
Rapid turn-off
If it is necessary to turn off the hob as fast as possible
you simply flip up the sliding rail.

HOW TO USE YOUR HOB
1. Beforeusing yourhob,alwaysensurethatthesur-
face of the cooking areas and the saucepans are
clean and dry. Never cook directly on the cooking
zones without using a cooking vessel.
2. Placethesaucepanswithcontentsontothecooking
area and turn the control knob to an appropriate
setting.Thehighestsettingwillallowthemaximum
amountofheattobetransferredtothepanforinitial
fast boiling or heating, but it is important to be
guidedbyrecommendationsgiveninthesaucepan
manufacturer's instructions regarding the use of
heatsettingstosuitthetypeofpan.Closefittinglids
on the saucepans will ensure faster results.
3. To select a setting for simmering after initial fast
boiling or heating, or for slower cooking, turn to a
lowernumber.Thenumbersdonotdenoteanyset
temperature,butafterusingthehobafewtimes,no
difficultywillbeexperiencedinselectinganappro-
priate setting, although this will vary with the type
andquantityoffood,thesizeandtypeofsaucepan
and whether or not the lid is used.
4. Remove any food spills on the hob as soon as
possible to prevent them from being burned on.
Pleaseseenotesoncareandcleaningofyourhob.
On ceramic hobs, sugar solutions e.g. jam and
syrupsmustbewipedoffthesurfaceimmediatelyto
avoid the surface being damaged.
5. Do not leave an empty pan on a heated area.
6. Saucepansmayberestedonunheatedareaswhen
cooking is complete,prior to serving the food.
7. Donotslidepansacrosstheceramicsurfaceasthis
can cause scratches.
Deep Fat Frying
For safety purposes when deep fat frying, fill the pan
only one-third full of fat or oil.
Donotcoverthepanwithalidanddonotleavethepan
unattended.Intheunfortunateeventofafire,switchoff
atthemainssupplyandcoverthepanwithalidordamp
cloth to assist in smothering the flames. Do not throw
water on the fat.
Do not store fat or oil on the hob in case the hob is
inadvertantly switched on.

Saucepans
Theheatingzonesarefittedwiththermallimiters,which
are a safety device to prevent the ceramic glass over-
heating, larger pans can be used - up to 230 mm (9")
base diameter on a nominal 180 mm (7") heated area
- providing they do not overlap the hob trims.
Only use cookware manufactured for use on ceramic
hobs. Look forthe relevant symbol (Fig.1).
Cooking pans with aluminium or copper bottoms
are unsuitable for use. These materials can cause
stains that can not be removed.
Thefollowingadviceshouldbefollowedtoachieve
anoptimumenergyconsumptionaswellasavoiding
overboiling,whichcanbeburnedontothecooking
zones.
PanBases
Cooking and frying pans should have a flat, solid and
smoothbase.Abasewithroughedgescanscratchand
leave abrasion marks on the ceramic surface.
Pan Sizes
Pansshouldhaveflatbases andbeapproximatelythe
same size as the cooking area.
Pan Lids
Alidpreventsheatfromescapingandthereforereduces
the cooking time.
SpecialistPans
Pressurecookers,preservingpans,etc.shouldcomply
withtherecommendationsfornormalsaucepansgiven
above.Traditionalroundbottomedwoksarenotsuitable
for use even with a stand, woks with flat bases are
available and do comply with the recommendations.
GeneralNotes
•Verythin,badlydentedanddistortedpans,particularly
with uneven bases should NOT be used.
•Neverplaceautensilwithaskirt(e.g.abucket)onthe
heatedarea.
•Pans should not have rough bases and should be
liftedon and offthe cooking zone.Do notslid them, as
this may scratch the surface of the hob.
•Donotuselargepreservingpansorfishkettleacross
two cooking zones as damage may occur to the hob.
•Pans must NOT overlap the hob trims.

WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A DEFECT?
Beforecallingthecustomerservicemakesurethat
the hob was operated correctly and the fuse is not
blown out.
You are able to clear the following defects:
•You hear a buzzing when you heat up a zone?
=> Thisisnotadefect.Itstopswithincreasingheat.
•Discolouring of a cooking zone?
=> Thisisnotafaultinthematerialbutburntonfood
remains.Theydonotaffectthefunctioningand
the durability of the ceramic hob.
Defect indication
•if all indicators show a flashing " ":
=> failure,breakdown
--> wronglyoperated
possiblereasons: - an object has been put on
the sliding rail.
- the sliding rail was lifted up
momentarily.
- the sliding rail has been da-
magedmechanically(e.g.by
being bent).
•iftheselectedpowerlevelblinksalternatelywith"E":
=> Your equipment has been installed so that the
increasingpowerislimited(seenotesregarding
powerlimitations in the Chapter "Operating
Instructions". The electronics automatically
switches back to the last permitted power level
(Fig. 10).
Thepoweris,however,stillsufficientfornormal
operation. (Due to the special distribution of
powerbytheelectronics,allhotplatescanstillbe
used.
•if an "F" shows on the display:
=> Theelectronicdeviceisprotectedfromoverheat-
ing by a temperature limiter. Cooking zones
showingan"F"willbeautomaticallyturnedoffby
the electronic device (fig.11).
As soon as the electronic device has reached normal
operating temperature again and the slider of the
corresponding cooking zone moved back to "0", you
can start the cooking zone again.
If the "F" symbol is displayed frequently, contact
your Service Centre as there may be a problem.

SERVICING
Repairs on electrical appliances must be under-
taken by qualified electricians only. Improper
repairs can cause serious harm and danger for
users. The appliance is only disconnected from
the mainswhen the fuseis turned off orthe mains
connection is interrupted.
Attention!
Ifanyfissuresorcracksappearonthehob'ssurfacethe
hob has to be switched off immediately.Disconnect
the appliance from the mains and inform the service
department.

INSTALLATION
Power limitation
In a few cases, it can happen that, depending on the
type of connection and the fusing of the supply line,
a power limitation may be necessary. It can then
also be used if a higher electricity supply tariff is in
force for peak power (peak current meter).
More detailed values can be taken from the table
below.
a) No power limiting (Fig. 12 - Switch position 0)
b) Power limit stage 1 (Fig. 12, Switch position
1)
Depending on the internal switching combinations
of the hotplates, and on the mains connection,the
maximumpowerislimitedwhenusingbothfronthot
platessimultaneously.There isno limitationon the
rear hot plates, or for a combination of these with
one of the two front hot plates.
c) Power limit stage 2 (Fig. 12, Switch position
2)
Themaximumpowerislitmitdforanytwohotplates.
If three or four plates are being used
simultaneously,themaximumpowerofallplatesin
use is reduced correspondingly. The cooking time
canthereforebesomewhatlongerasaresultofthe
reduced power used.

Beforecarryingoutanymaintenanceandcleaning
operations,makesurethattheapplianceisISOLA-
TED from the electricity supply.
Helpful Tips
•Makesurethebottomofutensilsandcookingareas
are clean and dry.
•Selectthecorrectheat settingsand usesaucepans
largeenoughtoaccommodatethefoodtoeliminate
boiloversandsplattering.
•Ifpossible,wipeupfoodspillsfromadjacentheating
areas before using the areas for cooking.
Note
•Use recommended ceramic hob cleaners only.
Cleaning
•Tokeepexteriortrimsandcontrolpanelinaspotless
condition, wipe after each use with a warm soapy
cloth.
•Wipethecontrolknobswithadampcloth,whichhas
been wrung out in hot, soapy water, then dry tho-
roughly.
•Remove any food spills on the hob as soon as
possible with a damp cloth.
•Make sure that the hob is cool before applying any
cleaningmaterials.
CeramicHobs
UseCleanerConditioner daily.Asitcleans, itleavesa
protective coating of silicone on the smooth surface,
which helps to prevent scratches and abrasions in
whichfoodparticlescancollect.Italsohelpstoprevent
buildupofmineraldepositsandwillmakefutureclean-
ingeasier.
•Applyadabofcleanerinthecentreofeach cooking
zone to be cleaned (for normal cleaning, start with
about5mlspoonfulofcleaner,applymoreifneeded).
Dampen a cloth and then proceed to cleanthe hob.
Toremovemorestubbornmarksuseaslightlydam-
pened non-stick pan cleaner (e.g. Scotchbrite or
Vileda).
•Wipe off this application with another clean damp
cloth and dry thoroughly.
•Any smearing or hazing on the surface can be
removed with a lightly dampened cloth andthen be
polished with a softdry cloth.
Note
•If a wet paper towel is used to remove spills from a
warmcookingarea,becarefultoavoidsteamburns.
•Do not use asponge or dishcloth.They will leave a
film of water and possible detergent on heating
areas,whichwillturnbrownandresemblediscoloura-
tion, next time the area is heated. If this happens,
apply Cleaner Conditioner to remove it.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
How To Deal With Metal Marks
•Metaldepositscanbeidentifiedasgrey/brownmarks
on the ceramic surface and are usually caused by
dragging saucepans with aluminium bases, parti-
cularly when new, across the ceramic surface.
•Toavoidthesemarks,protectthesurfaceofthehob
with Cleaner Conditioner and lift the saucepans
acrosstheheatedareas.Ensurethatnewaluminium
based saucepans are well scrubbed on the base to
remove any rough edges and take off any deposits
left from manufacture.
•Themarksareeasily removable,providing theyare
cleaned off straight away using the recommended
cleaners, and are not allowed to burn onto the
ceramic surface for long periods.
About Discolouration
Discolouration occurs on the surface not IN it.
By following proper care and cleaning recommen-
dations the surface will remain clean and bright.
The cooking surface should be cleaned thoroughly
eachdaytoremoveallvisiblespills.CleanerConditioner
has been specially formulated, use only as much as
necessary.IftheCeanerConditionerisusedtoogene-
rously, a heavy film may be left that will burn on and
discolourwhentheareasareheated.Whenthisoccurs,
lightlyscrubthesurfacewithadampenednon-stickpan
cleaner, this will help to loosen the excess Cleaner
Conditioner.Thenwipethesurfacewithadampenend
cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth.
Important notes
•In the event of the hob being scratched, spills will
collect and appear as fine lines.These are not fully
removable but can be minimisedby the daily use of
Cleaner Conditioner. These scratches donot affect
thecookingpeformance.
•Spills from sugar solutions MUST be removed from
thehobbeforethesyruphasset,otherwisedamage
to the glass ceramic surface will occur.
•Donotplacealuminiumfoildishesonthehotsurface
as these will cause damage to the hob.
•Hobrite and Corning Cleaner Conditioners are the
currentrecommendedcleanerforuseontheceramic
hob.
•CleanerConditioneris fortheceramichobonlyand
must NOT be used as general all purpose cleaner.
