Safety warnings
For the User
•Thecookerhoodisdesignedtoextractunpleasantodoursfromthekitchen,itwillnot
extractsteam.
•Alwayscoverlightedelements,topreventexcessheatfromdamagingtheappliance.
Inthecaseofoil,gasandcoalfiredcookersitisessentialtoavoidopenflames.
•Also,whenfrying,keepthedeepfryingpanonthecookertop/cookerundercareful
control.
•Thehotoilinthefryingpanmightigniteduetooverheating.
•Theriskofself-ignitionincreaseswhentheoilbeingusedisdirty.
•Itisextremelyimportanttonotethatoverheatingcancauseafire.
•Never carry out any flambécooking under the hood.
•Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before carrying out any
work on the hood, including replacing the light bulb (take the cartridge fuse
outofthefuseholderorswitchofftheautomaticcircuitbreaker).
•It is very important to clean the hood and replace the filter at the
recommended intervals. Failure to do so could cause grease deposits to
build up, resulting in a fire hazard.
For the Installer
•Whenusedasanextractorunit,thehoodmustbefittedwitha 150mmdiameterhose.
Shouldtherealreadybeapipeofdiameter125mmthatductstotheoutsidethrough
thewallsorroof,itispossibletousethe150/125mmreductionflangeprovided.In
thiscasethehoodwillbeslightlynoisier.
•When installing the hood, make sure you respect the following minimum
distance from the top edge of the cooking hob/ring surfaces:
electric cookers 600mm
gas cookers 650mm
coal and oil cookers 700mmmin.
•ThenationalStandardonfuel-burningsystemsspecifiesamaximumdepressionof
0.04mbarinsuchrooms.
•Theairoutletmustnotbeconnectedtochimneyfluesorcombustiongasducts.The
airoutletmustundernocircumstancesbeconnectedtoventilationductsforroomsin
whichfuel-burningappliancesareinstalled.
•Theairoutletinstallationmustcomplywiththeregulationslaiddownbytherelevant
authorities.
•Whentheunitisusedinitsextractorversion,asufficientlylargeventilationholemust
beprovided,withdimensionsthatareapproximatelythesameastheoutlethole.
•Nationalandregionalbuildingregulationsimposeanumberofrestrictionsonusing
hoodsandfuel-burningappliancesconnectedtoachimney,suchascoaloroilroom-

heatersandgasfires,inthesameroom.
•Hoodscanonlybeusedsafelywithappliancesconnectedtoachimneyiftheroom
and/orflat(air/environmentcombination)isventilatedfromoutsideusingasuitable
ventilationholeapproximately500-600cm2 largetoavoidthepossibilityofa
depressionbeingcreatedduringoperationofthehood.
•Ifyouhaveanydoubts,contacttherelevantcontrollingauthorityorbuilding
inspector’soffice.
•Sincetheruleforroomswithfuelburningappliancesis“outletholeofthesamesizeas
theventilationhole”,aholeof500-600cm2,whichistosayalargerhole,could
reducetheperformanceoftheextractorhood.
•Ifthehoodisusedinitsfilteringfunction,itwilloperatesimplyandsafelyintheabove
conditionswithouttheneedforanyoftheaforementionedmeasures.
•Whenthehoodisusedinitsextractorfunction,thefollowingrulesmustbefollowedto
obtainoptimaloperation:
—shortandstraightoutlethose
—keepbendsinoutlethosetoaminimum
—neverinstallthehoseswithanacuteangle,theymustalwaysfollowagentlecurve.
—keepthehoseaslargeaspossible(preferablythesamediameterastheoutlet
hole).
•Failuretoobservethesebasicinstructionswilldrasticallyreducetheperformanceand
increasethenoiselevelsoftheextractorhood.

•Thehoodissuppliedasanextractorunitandcanalsobeusedwithafilteringfunction
byfittingonecharcoalfilter(specialaccessory).
•YouwillneedanoriginalAEGcharcoalfilterforthisfunction(Availablefromyourlocal
AEGServiceForceCentre).
Extractor version
•Theairisdischargedtotheoutsidethrougha
pipe,whichmustbefittedtoconnectionflange

Fortheextractorversionthispipemusthavea

•Bestresultsareobtainedbyusingalowspeedfornormalconditionsandahigh
speedwhenodoursaremoreconcentrated.
Turnthehoodonafewminutesbeforeyoustartcooking,youwillthengetanunder
pressureinthekitchen.Thehoodshouldbeleftonaftercookingforabout15minutes
oruntilalltheodourshavedisappeared.
Thecontrolswitchesarelocatedontheunit’sfrontpanel:
A- Mainswitch,hoodoff.
B- Startandchoiceofmotorspeed1-2-3-1-2.........
C- Indicatesspeed1(LED).
D- Indicatesspeed2 andsaturationofthegreasefilter(LED)

Shouldthehoodorthecontrolsfailtooperate:disconnectthepowersupplyforatleast5
seconds,thenturnthehoodbackonagain.
Correct ventilation
Ifthecookerhoodistoworkcorrectlytheremustbeanunderpressureinthekitchen.
Itisimportanttokeepthekitchenwindowsclosedandhaveawindowinanadjacent
roomopen.
Important
Thisisnotapplicableforrecirculation.Greatcaremustbetakenifthehoodisusedat
thesametimeasaburnerorfireplace(e.g.gas,diesel,coalorwoodheaters,water
heaters,etc.),asthehoodwillexpelairwhichisrequiredbytheseotherappliances.
Inthissituation,ensurethatawindowisopen.Thenegativepressureintheroom
mustnotexceed0,04mbartopreventfumesbeingdrawnbackintotheroombythe
cookerhood.

Control device for grease and charcoal filters
Thishoodisfittedwithadevicethatsignalswhenitisnecessarytocleanthegreasefilter
orthecharcoalfilter(inthecaseofrecirculationversionwithcharcoalfilter).
Ondelivery,thehoodisnotsuppliedwithancharcoalfilter,sothesaturationindicatorwill
bedisabled.
Ifthehoodistobeusedwithacharcoalfilter,thesaturation
indicatorlightmustbeenabledasfollows:
PressbuttonsBandGsimultaneouslyandholdthemfor3seconds. Atfirstonlythe
greasefilterLEDDwilllightup,butwhenthecharcoalfilterLEDElightsupthesaturation
indicatorwillbeenabled.
Todisableit:PressbuttonsBandGagainsimultaneouslyandhold
themfor3seconds,untilthecharcoalfilterLEDgoesout.
Grease filter LED (D)
LEDDwillstarttoflashwhenitistimetocleanthegreasefilter.
Cleaningwillbenecessaryafter40workinghours. Alwayscomplywiththemaintenance
instructionsforthegreasefilter.
Charcoal filter LED (E)
ThecharcoalfilterLEDEwillstarttoflashwhenthecharcoalfilterneedstobereplaced.
Thisoperationisnecessaryafterapproximately160workinghours.
Resetting the saturation indicator
Aftercleaningorreplacingthefilters,pressbuttonAfor3secondsuntilthegreasefilter
LEDDorthecharcoalfilterLEDEstopsflashing.

Maintenance and care
•The hood must always be disconnected from the electricity supply before
beginning any maintenance work.
Cleaning the hood
•Cleantheoutsideofthehoodusingadampclothandamilddetergent.
•Neverusecorrosive,abrasiveorflammablecleaningproducts.
•Neverinsertpointedobjectsinthemotor’sprotectivegrid.
•Washtheoutsidesurfacesusingadelicatedetergentsolution.Neverusecaustic
detergentsorabrasivebrushesorpowders.
•Onlyevercleantheswitchpanelandfiltergrilleusingadampclothanddelicate
detergents.
•Itisextremelyimportanttocleantheunitandchangethefiltersattherecommended
intervals.Failuretodosowillcausegreasedepositstobuildupthatcouldconstitutea
firehazard.
Metal grease filter
•Thepurposeofthegreasefiltersistoabsorb
greaseparticleswhichformduringcooking
anditmustalwaysbeused,eitherinthe
externalextractionorinternalrecycling
function.
Attention:themetalgreasefiltersmustbe
removedandwashed,eitherbyhandorinthe
dishwasher,everyfourweeks.
Removing the metal grease
filter
•First,pushthemetalgreasefilterstop
backwards,thenextractthefilter,pullingdownwards.Fig.3.
Hand washing
•Soakgreasefiltersforaboutonehourinhotwaterwithagrease-looseningcleaner,
thenrinseoffthoroughlywithhotwater.Repeattheprocessifnecessary.Refitthe
greasefilterswhentheyaredry.
Dishwasher
•Placegreasefiltersinthedishwasher.Selectthemostpowerfulwashingprogramme
andhighesttemperature,atleast65°C.Repeattheprocess.Refitthegreasefilters
when they are dry.
Whenwashingthemetalgreasefilterinthedishwasheraslightdiscolourationofthe
filtercanoccur,thisdoesnothaveanyimpactonitsperformance.

Charcoal filter
•Thecharcoalfiltershouldonlybeusedifyouwanttousethehoodintherecirculation
function.
•TodothisyouwillneedanoriginalAEGcharcoalfilter(availablefromyourlocal
ServiceForceCentre).
•Cleaning/replacing the charcoal filter for UK
Thecharcoalfilterscannotbecleaned,werecommendthattheyshouldbereplaced
approximatelyeverythreemonthsormoreoftenifthehoodisusedformorethan
threehoursperday.
•Cleaning/replacing the carbon filter not for UK
Unlikeothercarbonfilters,theLONGLIFEcarbonfiltercanbecleanedand
reactivated.Atnormalusethefiltershouldbecleanedeverysecondmonth(when
usingthehood2,5hoursperday,inavarage).Thebestwaytocleanthefilterisin
thedishwasher.Usenormaldetergentandchoosethehighesttemperature(65ºC).
Washthefilterseparatelysothatnofoodpartsgetsstuckonthefilterandlatercauses
badodours.Toreactivatethecarbon,thefiltershouldbedriedinanovenfor10
minuteswithatemperatureofmaximum100ºC.
Afterapproximatelythreeyearsofuse,thecarbonfiltershouldbereplacedwitha
new,astheodourreductioncapacitywillbereduced.
•Fitting
Removetheframeiwhichsupportsthefilterhbyunscrewing itfromthehoodg
(Fig.4). Insertthecharcoalfilterinsidetheframeandputallpartsbackintheirplace.
•Toremove proceedinthereverseorder.
•Alwaysspecifythehoodmodelcodenumberandserialnumberwhenordering
replacementfilters.Thisinformationisshownontheregistrationplatelocatedonthe
insideoftheunit.
•ThecharcoalfiltercanbeorderedfromyourlocalAEGServiceForceCentre.

Warning
•Failuretoobservetheinstructionsoncleaningtheunitandchangingthefilterscould
causeafirehazard.Youarethereforestronglyrecommendedtofollowthese
instructions.
•Themanufacturerdeclinesallresponsibilityforanydamagetothemotororanyfire
damagelinkedtoinappropriatemaintenanceorfailuretoobservetheabovesafety
recommendations.
Changing the light bulb
•Disconnectthecookerhoodfromthemainssupply.
•Removethe lamp cover,use ascrewdriverasalever. Fig. 5.
•Replacetheoldbulbwithanewoneofthesametype.
•Refitthelampcover.
•Ifthelightdoesnotcomeon,makesurethebulbhasbeeninsertedincorrectlybefore
contactingyourlocalAEGServiceForceCentre.
