Thetwooctavekeyboardcontrolsthe
fre-
quencyoftheoscillatorsandfilter.The
con-
ductivityofthefingerstouchingthekeyboard
providesthemeansbywhichthedigital
sensorselectsa particularfrequencywhichin
turnensuresthattheoscillatorsareconstantly
intune.

thetopnoteofthekeyboard;throughthis
holethereis
apre-ser
(asmallscrew)forad-
justmentofthekeyboard'touch'
sensitivity.
An
adjustment
maybenecessaryduetovary-
ingfingersizes.
Thekeyboardalsoprovidesa triggerwhich
setsofftheenvelopegenerators(seeEnvelope
GeneratorsandOutputsections).
Onthecontrolpanel thereisa 'bend'knob
whichisnormallysetinthecentreposition
andbyturning
this
knobtoeitherside,one
canshiftthekeyboardpitchupordown.
Belowthe'bend'knobthereisanotherhole
containinganotherpre-setforalteringthe
tuningrangeofthekeyboard.Whenyoure-
ceiveyour
'WASP'
youwillfindthekey-
boardtunedtoconcertpitch
(A=440),
but
thispre-setcanbeusedshouldyouwish
differenttuning.
Thelowerknobisa 'glide'control,which,if
turnedclockwiseslowsdownthechangefrom
onenotetoanother:(thisisalsoknownas
'portamento').
OSCILLATORS
Therearetwosignaloscillatorsinthe'WASP'.
Oscillator1:theterm'feet'(FT)isusedas
in
organsbecausethelengthofanorganpipe
determinesitsnote;whenthelengthishalved,
thenoteincreasesbyanoctave.Youwill
find5 switchpositionswhichrangefrom'32'
footto'2'foot,andthisprovidesa five
octaverange.
Theright-handknobhasthreeposition,'OFF',
'sawtooth',
and'square'wave.
Thesquarewaveislinkedtothecentreknob
whichcontrolsits
width.
Oscillator2:thishassimilarcontrolsexcept
forthe'pitch'controlwhichallowsthein-
tervalbetweenthetwooscillatorstobead-
justed.
Byusingthe'glide'control,thetuningofthe
twooscillatorsisoffsetduringtheglidepro-
ducinganinterestingeffect.

Thisisa lowfrequencyoscillatorwhich
providesnosounditselfbutcanbeusedto
controlbothoscillatorsandfilter.The
'fre-
quency'knobadjuststhespeed,and'pitch
mod.'
controlsthetwooscillators.
The6-wayswitchonthelowerrightprovides
thechoiceofcontrol.Thesecontrolsare
sine
wave(vibrato),risingsawtooth,falling
saw-
tooth,
squarewave,noiseandrandom
(RND),
whichturnsona sampleandholdcircuit.
Noisesignal:thisknobproduceswhitenoise,
whichisusefulforpercussionsounds.
FILTERSECTION
Therearethreetypesoffilteringavailable:
low
pass,
bandpassandhighpass.Allhavean
adjustable
'Q'
whichresonatesthefilterto
enhanceindividualharmonics,A manual
controladjuststhefilter's
frequency.
Control:
thesetwoknobssituatedbeneath
thefilterareusedtocontrolthefilterfrom
thecontroloscillatorandcontrolenvelope
(see'control
Env.').
Theyaresetincentre
positionandhave'+'and'-'functions,
i.e.a risingsawtoothcancontroltheoscilla-
torswhilstthereverse(falling)isavailableto
controlthefilter.

decaywhichcontrolsthespeedoftherepeat.
